  • Why isn't the song on iTunes the same as this?! I was SOOOOOOO disappointed when I downloaded the one from iTunes. Some off tempo bongos on the background, and the melody isn't as strong. Not cool....

  • @Obnoxiality The song evolved since I first recorded it. I'll record the funky version with pure guitar in my upcoming Acoustica album this Spring with film a full length video.

  • real fun

i like the tune and the groove also

  • Hi Mike, you're not the first, but it's a great video and some nice pickin' to boot. There's quite a few people doing the same thing much earlier on YouTube. Guitarist Michael Gulezian showed me your video, so you're getting some other guitar enthusiasts to love your video nevertheless. :-) Thanks for posting!

  • @ashlandjohn Hi. Thanks for the compliment about the music. If you know of any other video that uses an iPhone/iPad capturing oscillations on the outside of the guitar before this, please let us know. Peace, Mike.

  • @worldbeatguitar I think my first post sounded pissy, so I apologize! Your video is really cool, as is the videography on your "Amazing 12-String Guitar High Shutter Speed Video" post. The other iphone guitar string strobing videos qualify more as experiments, most inside the sound hole, as I'm sure you know. So maybe you are the first to do the "sunlight" effect w/iPhone! Do you know how many lumens it requires to push the shutter speed high enough? Maybe an app can change shutter speed too?

  • @ashlandjohn Thanks for the reply. I research it and so far no one has programmatically set an iDevice camera shutter speed, so the only way to increase it is to shine a lot of light. Indoors I was able to get the effect with 2600 watts very close to the guitar. But direct sunlight through a window should work too. Peace, Mike

  • @ashlandjohn No problem. I read all comments as if they spontaneous comments from friends!

  • Brilliant music and playing. Cool video effect!

  • Very nice song,

  • Really digging that rhythm.

  • Sneak! Cunningly touting your awesome song inside a semi-viral vid of 'Guitar Oscillations and Iphone/iPad buzz words. :-/

    Really cool! Where can get?

    You gots an album?

    Keep going.! :)

  • @jw2327 Hey, thanks Check my website for more info. Peace, Mike

  • I did something similar with a Canon 7D on another song. The video is called "Amazing 12-String Guitar High Shutter Speed Video."

  • Holy crap..

  • i difetti vengono santificati con sta apple... assurdo

  • Woah! Awesome!

  • @worldbeatguitar its also abut the music :)

  • @IntroTDarknes Thanks!

  • All the other stuff aside.... Nice music.

  • I found the album for this song, it's called "The Return Message."

  • There are literally hundreds of videos with this exact same thing going on, so please stop acting like some kind of break through amazing discoverer.

  • @adfsghjn Hi. I updated the description so it is more clear that this video is about filming oscillations OUTSIDE the guitar using an iPad or iPhone. If you know of any others please let us know. I think this is cool because you can film both the guitarist and guitar and see the oscillations - and you don't need a $4000 camera. I expect to see lots of oscillating videos of stringed instruments soon. This can also be a school lab project for physics. Peace, Mike

  • @adfsghjn please don't be a d*ck; it's not pretty. The guy is excited about discovering this, and wanted to share.

I get sooo tired of the negative vibe in YT video comments. How about some positive energy for a change?

  • Nice playing and composition. Kottke/Fahey influences surely. Well done!

  • "Prairie Ambience." Beautiful piece.. 8)

  • what song is that? or genre...

  • @sapiringo18 The song is my composition "Prairie Ambience." The genre is "American Primitivism" defined in Wikipedia. Cheers.

  • @worldbeatguitar its got elements of folk. complete work of art i must say.

  • I thought the image distortions of the rolling shutter grew with slower shutter speeds?

Anyway, awesome video, awesome effect, and awesome playing :)

  • What kind of guitar is that? :O

  • @lobaxx The guitar is a baritone (big and long neck) 12-string crafted by Brian Applegate. It is an awesome guitar!

  • Woah, that's freakin' cool. Kinda makes the guitar seem... Alive. I'm guessing this will get heaps of views soon.

Also, very good guitar playing. Very impressive. Might I ask what song you were playing? Thanks.

  • I really don't care about the oscillations but love the music! Available online anywhere?

  • Amazing song

  • You can see the butt of my Schnauzer "Leonardo" in the background in the opening seconds!

  • Nice man! Cool song
