Mike is my idol, and i wish he would have gotten more famous, he truly would have been a much better governor than arnold, because if you have read any of Mentzer's stuff, he was very intelligent politically

More than 20 years ago I read an article by Mentzer about HIT. Eventually I made a full switch to it from the mindless volume training I had been doing. It changed my life. I've won bodybuilding titles and have even written books and articles about HIT. I have Mentzer to thank for showing me the light. None of that changes the fact that this is the dumbest music video I've ever seen! 8^ P

Have you seen the behind the scenes video of he and Ray while they were making the HIT video? He was smoking nonstop and he looked really bad as did Ray. As I recall, they both passed just a couple days after completing the shoot.

Wow, never knew this even existed. Mike looked so good back in those days. He looked naturally big, not all bloated and freakish like the BB's today. Of course, he only competed at 215 or so compared to guys like Branch who at 5'7" is about 245 on stage. I had the opportunity to workout under Mike back in 1992 and learned so much. He was truly a great guy.

I think you stand correct. It looks to be in 79. Mike's biceps in 80, looked pretty damn good to me. It was obvious, that he was going for conditioning and his pecs suffered a little bit, but nevertheless, should of destroyed Arnold in that contest.

I've seen all the worlds strongest man shows since 1977. Mike was an attendee at one of the first ones, may be the very first one. All that was shown of Mike was him in the crowd for a few seconds, that's it.

I think you're right. The one that I was thinking about was "All Star Competition." (I think that's what it was called) It had Ferrigno and Mentzer in it. Mike was already retired from BB.
