I've managed to get some spectacular explosions, as well, don't hesitate to use even more voltage and current, I managed to get big bands in just a few seconds, you can pump several hundred amps through those D Duracell's, the cheap zinc carbon Eveready go pop too, with a black carbon dust blasted all over the jig. It's good fun, excellent video.

Here's your problem: you mixed and matched batteries. It says on the package not to do that. They won't guarantee performance when you do.

Just be careful with the lithium batteries, they can be rather volatile and spew junk at you with flames. i dont want to see you get hurt in doing it because i said to try it.

I wanna see what kind of explosion a 1,000 volt attempt to charge a 1.5 volt disposable battery would cause.

It is theoretically possible to increase 110 volts AC from the wall to 1,000 volts AC/DC at 1 amp

The battery clamps the voltage as a dead short and not much will happen unless you got 1000 Volts and 100 Amps at the same time to play with.

I find between 24 and 55 Volts at ±100 Amps perfect for these experiments.

Yes, you need a 1 kVA step up transformer 110V 9.1A to 1000V 1A. ac.

Then rectify to DC with appropiate rated rectifier diodes.

Well you charge with dc or dc with a pulsed ac ripple on it.

This experiment is just for fun to blow the batteries up.

A carbon cell battery can not be recharged.

A nicad or whatever else charge at about 5 to 10% of Ah capacity.

They, the batteries are certainly dangerous. BTW I do this outside and am aware of the explosive power of the batteries.
