Flip Ultra camera onboard a slow stick RC airplane

Very clever FLIP mounting design. Did you have any problem with ground (heavy landiing) contact with such a low slung set-up.? Did you extend the kit supplied landing gear for better clearance.? Also, did you have a significant pitch trim change with the camera hanging as shown...?? I cannot tell from the video, but, it looks like you have a single rear strut with a rubber-band as part of the bottom mount design to tie it back to the fuselage tube... Great video editing too....

thanks skywagon185d . I did make a totally new landing gear as the stock one is too flimsy and I wanted more clearance. The balance point is exactly the same with the flip attached (by design :)). The only difference in flight characteristics is the increase in drag.

First, THANK YOU!, 5 stars (liked)(21st) (3806th viewer) Perfection, and Fun, and that Smile says it all. Why I am asking and gathering my info. I own a Yellow bee, could not pass the deal up, and really want to get a plane I can have fun, attach my cam etc. and was directed to the stick. I built rc truck/cars. The Set up is important and i love to get back ino RTF planes I hear 2.4 gigs and this would be perfect, and advice be a Honer, Please Pm if you have that time. My hat is tipped A+

Thank You for all the great reviews and advice you have given about camcorders. I have watched ALL your vids.

I also own a big bee electric plane that I have put many cameras on (even a canon Tx1!) I have played with some low power 2.4 Ghz transmitters. There ia a whole slew of newer ones now that transmit over a mile distance.

Right now, I am sticking to putting my flip ultra HD or the,kodak play-sport on my big bee or the slow stick. If you look at the mount design, it is important to use balsa wood and use truss supports to remove vibration. I also put some thin foam on all the vibration points of contact. I did another video of the flip ultra over my neighborhood. Check out that video and see how clear the houses below are. I will try to ad a video response to this pointing to that video.

It comes with plane kit and speed 400 motor witrh gearbox. I would rcomend you buy the brushless slow stick ($75.00). Much better performance and worth the money. You will need a brushless controller and the radio gear. You can buy a matching reciver for your park zone if it is on the 72 MHZ band.

Nice vid /fly by's!

You will see a lot about the ATC2K. I have one...and I have a Flip Ultra. The Flip Ultra is hands down the far better camera for sound/picture and ease of use/Pc interface convenience. Only advantage(arguable)of the atc2k is the expandable memory and the underwater capabilities. Flip is lighter too. I use my Flip often...only use the atc2k when I go kayaking or snorkeling(not often). My 60 minute version Flip was $130.00 at Wal Mart.

Cool videos you have made silverspeed. The flip ultra has exceeded my expectations in video quality as well as the audio. I would rate the video and audio as good as my Canon Powershot A710. (at 640 by 480).

How good is the quality of the flip cameras video and sound. Cos I think it has the same quality as the action camera (VGA) and I have to say I was utterly dissapointed with it. sound Quality was virtually non-existant and video was dark and not that good. I was thinking of getting this camera for making movie as my parents camera is old and has now lost warranty so they don't want me messing around with it. Look at my videos and can you tell me how good the quality is compared to my movies.
