the reason these hitters are so strong is because most of them play other sports, such as football, so they work out alot. And they also turn on the ball and crush it, watch their shoulders square up to the pitcher
It's not hard to fix your swing..change it up. My swing used to look like Brett Gardner's. Now it looks exactly like this guy. It's quite easy, just start slow on a batting tee and increase speed every day. Keep your front shoulder closed until you feel it in your back(through the hips). Keep it nice and steady with proper weight shifting. Eventually your muscles will memorize the actions and that's it. =]
Come to the Red Sox! You couldn't have a better situation. Just look at what they've done with all their draft picks recently! Congrats on getting drafted.
wogdoggy, you are absolutely correct about the importance of converting to wood and about the ability to take BP into a game. I scouted this kid at both of the major national high school wood bat tournaments last Summer and Fall (Marietta and Jupiter). This kid hit over .500 with 6 HR's and 27 RBI against some of the best teams in the country over 54 AB's.
The kid's got great hands and terrific balance which is the key to his hitting.
wogdoggy, you are absolutely correct about both wood bats and game conditions. I scouted this kid at the two major wood bat events of the 2007 summer season. He hit .527 with 6 HR's and 26 RBI off some of the best pitchers in the country. He passes both of your tests.
