I definately agree with you about Limbaugh; but isn't it possible that there were some people in that crowd who were doing the best they could and working hard, but who still couldn't pay their basic living expenses? Or perhaps some who lost their jobs in the downturn? Or maybe their homes? There were 35,000 people there, and I think it's very unfair to categorize them all as "parasitic bums". Detroit is probably one of the hardest hit areas in the country with regard to recent economics.

I definately agree with you about Limbaugh; but isn't it possible that there were some people in that crowd who were doing the best they could and working hard, but who still couldn't pay their basic living expenses? Or perhaps some who lost their jobs in the downturn? Or maybe their homes? There were 35,000 people there, and I think it's very unfair to categorize them all as "parasitic bums". Detroit is probably one of the hardest hit areas in the country with regard to recent economics.

Well, I'm sorry, but I have more faith in people than that. I believe most people want tp work for a living honestly, and get the things they want for their families. I believe that most people who believe that a certain group (any group) of people are welfare addicted are responding to a prejudice regarding people whom they don't even know. I would'nt want to pass any negative judgments on any of those people in the crowd until I had personally met them.

This commentary is a sad facet of certain individuals on the left, like jesse jackson and al shapton--attack the person you disagree with and stick the racist label on them. The point Rush made was simply that people are running to get what they believe is "free" money, ignorant of the fact that the government had to take it from someone who earned it....which includes some of those standing in line. Bill Clinton fostered the same mentality and Rush criticized him as well. Ideas, not race.

Car insurance redistributes wealth from people who haven't just been in a car accident to people who have just been in one.

But it's not government's job to reward and punish. That's God and the universe's job.
It's government's job to assist the economy and to assist citizens, whether they're rich or poor.
