Wonderful sound.I remember listening to their album "We Came To Play" back in the early '70s."It's You that I need" is just great."Up on the Roof" has been a favorite of mine since the early '60s when the Drifters did it.
These guys did the singing for The Muncheros corn chip advertisement (Smiths crisps) & I got to watch them record the singing along with about maybe 6 others. Virtually private entertainment from a fantastic acapella group. I then got to record the solo over the top...
I also bought "We Came To PLay" many years ago and wore it out. The Persuasions just make me feel good. Sure there's ugly stuff in the world today. Always has been. You just have to choose.
@Baskerville22 I'm mixed: black and white. And, I took this to offense first, but it's the truth. I don't even listenin' to a lot of black singers myself, unless it's Gospel. But, just don't think that every black singer is nasty. But, I sadly do agree. I wish music was still like this.
@Baskerville22 -- You have no idea what your spewing. You're just another racist ,hateful asshole. You are aware that 80% of rap music is purchased by White males.
I was 16 when I first saw them live. I'm 45 now. i played in punk bands, ran a record label, listened to everything from industrial to bluegrass..they will always be my favorite band. Nothin' is more REAL than the Persuasions. len-detroit
@Nazz53 This sounds better than ALL young people. Young singers need to learn from these grand old masters of dazzlin' harmony, doo wop, and soul!!!!!
There are no better harmonies than those from this accapella group. I first discovered their music in the early 1990's listening to Harvey Holiday's "Street Corner Harmony" program on WOGL-AM 1210 Philadelphia. Initially it was "Looking For An Echo" then I got the "Chirpin" CD thanks to Val Shively at R&B Records in Philly and all of this while listening to radio from near Dayton, Ohio.

@Baskerville22 Your scope of black music must be limited to gangster rap to make a statement that black music is obscene filth.Do your homework.
