  • You know you're in love with ballet when you're watching this, stretching at the same time, pointe shoe sewing stuff on the table, when you're supposed to be doing math. :,)

  • not so impressive uvarov....

  • Also,I really wanted to thank you for uploading such good quality videos of beautiful classics of ballet, including tons of relevant information and the best dancers around. :] Thank you very much!

  • This is my favorite out of all Paquita dances, variations, anything. <3

  • Is in CD the variation of Uvarov? Pleas solution!!

  • where can you get the music for the first variation? I looked on itunes and looked at cds, I really, really need to get the music.

  • @liveforballet02 - one can find it amazon - its available on the CD "La Bayadere & Paquita" with Boris Spassov conducting the Sofia National Opera Orchestra. Look up "Minkus, L.: Bayadere (La) / Paquita [Ballets]" under "mp3 downloads" ... you'll want track 29. I wrote a review of the CD.

  • I have a recording of the paquita pas and I always wondered where/what the original lead ballerina variation looked like. I actually hate the version I have because I swear there is something wrong with the violin its all squeaky and off tune and I thought to myself "how can someone choreograph to this??" I think I've seen the male lead dance to that music as well

  • Some great pieces from Don Q......??????

  • @fishmaster9399 All those variations are interchangeable. I've even seen the male variation here turn up in Giselle Act 1 for Albrecht.

  • beautiful!

  • wow great vid. how old was the girl that came on at 3 and 1/2 mins? and was that the young school of the bolshoi that came on at the end? do you have to audition to get in there?

  • And a little more about all the other recent Bolshoi - Kirov reconstractions. The Stepanov notations of stallen "black books" by Nikolay Sergeyev from Mariinsky (yes - they did not belonged to him!) is not just VERY far from beeng accurate. There are very many empty places.Very often Port de Bras are not mentioned at all. Often there is only mentioning of spacing! Often one cannot make out what notator ment...

  • Yes I understand the problem - Yuri was passionate about making such reconstraction - my respect! But he also wanted to please the audience of 21 century. But can one call it RECONSTRACTION?

  • If choreographer wants to call it reconstraction - then he should not allow himself things that contradicting the archival documents of the past. One of the examples - famous foto of little children doing Mazurka, not the adults! And manege of corps de ballet girls around soloist who is doing Grand Pirouettes - that simply could not exist...

  • I am sure this reconstraction was done in accordance with musical score of the original Paquita - and that is absolutely great!!But Yuri additional choreography looks like antique from Ikea. It does look like some VERSION of classical ballet - yes, but not like RECONSTRACTION of ORIGINAL Paquita...

  • Thank you for posting this! I have never seen this variation before - love the port de bras!

  • What a gorgeous production of one of my favorite ballets. I only wish the Bolshoi and the Mariinsky would do the the full length like POB.

  • Thanks ever so much for posting this, and of course thanks to Yuri Burlaka for putting it together. As usual, thanks for the fine notes. It was nice to see Zakharova. She should do this sort of thing more often.
