have to laugh at the commentator making sure he got his 18.20 jump in there during the conversation, nobody cars now johnathan edwards beat them all, who says white men can't jump lol
Mike Conley ran the 200m in a blistering 20.13. Not sure of his 100m time, but 20.13 is probably equivalent to a 10 flat or even faster (the average speed of a 200m tends to be slightly faster than that of a 100m in a world class sprinter as the relatively slow first 30m of a sprint makes up a smaller proportion of the race in the 200m, and this effect offsets the lower peak speed in the latter race). Jonathan Edwards, though regarded as very fast on the runway, had a pb of 10.48 in the 100m.
@mpljcbh Just checked again and it was 20.12, but wind assisted (+2.7m/s). I guess that would equate to about 20.3 legal at the slowest. Still blindingly fast for a specialist triple jumper though
Those saying his technique is "shit" obviously don't understand anything about physics. Conley was extremely efficient at conserving horizontal speed off the board, keeping his trajectory low through each phase WHICH IS WHAT YOU SHOULD DO! Conley was also a master at competing when it counted most.
His technique is not visually pleasing, like Kristo Markov's, but it is a superb technique because he keeps low enough to conserve his speed through the three jumps. He is almost certainly the fastest triple jumper ever (faster even than Jonathan) and only he could pull off a jump like this.
Almost Flawless form produces 18m jumps so I'm not sure what form ya'll are looking at? I think it's that the jumpers nowadays don't have form like the old school so we think it's right..shit I know what I'm watching for inspiration!
@Jay8941 what? Jonathan Edwards IS the world record holder! 18.29m the frenchman has jumped 17.98. Edwards is 1st man to jump over 18m! Edwards has infact jumped 18.43m wind assisted! FACT
@jediknight08 well they speakin from the standpoint of he chopped before he hit the board, and his technique isn't pretty, but he is effective and 1 of the best clutch jumper ever
its a bit stupid how the marker board showing the distance is sat so far back with officials sitting in front of it! I would say conelys technique is actually extremely good- very little speed loss through the phases
@papano12 why do people think his form is bad, I think it was great actually, he stayed low to the ground, relaxed hip flexor after 2nd phase (1:35), great arm swings, good landing...?
