  • The Black man is God

  • terrible hop, still world record at the time

  • Comment removed

  • pause at 1:06 for qwop :P

  • have to laugh at the commentator making sure he got his 18.20 jump in there during the conversation, nobody cars now johnathan edwards beat them all, who says white men can't jump lol

  • WILLIE!

  • he is really strong through his hips in every phase very good jump!

  • guys his techniques not bad... keeps great momentum throughout the phases.

  • is it just me or did it look super short till you saw him pass the 18

  • i mean its not a bad technique. he jus looks a little flat.

  • is this the same Olympics when mike powell broke the record for LJ?

  • @gtthtt

that was world championships in tokyo, not olymics. cheers.

  • @jonesy77777 You are wrong. This is Barcelona 92. You can read it in the track.

  • @polinganerouniversal

I'm not wrong, the guy asked if this was where Mike Powell broke the record, to which I replied that that was in Tokyo WC's not Barcelona Olympics.

  • @polinganerouniversal Sorry, I didn't see it was an answer.

  • @gtthtt nope

  • i think he is a great jumper. his first phase isn't the best but he makes up for it in the second phase....

  • i wonder how he could do that!!! his technique is terrible!!! +o(

    xD

  • is that 18.17???

  • doesn't look like 18.17

  • @MatttHa Yeah it doesn't cos hes really quick, so the phases come faster

  • Mike Conley ran the 200m in a blistering 20.13. Not sure of his 100m time, but 20.13 is probably equivalent to a 10 flat or even faster (the average speed of a 200m tends to be slightly faster than that of a 100m in a world class sprinter as the relatively slow first 30m of a sprint makes up a smaller proportion of the race in the 200m, and this effect offsets the lower peak speed in the latter race). Jonathan Edwards, though regarded as very fast on the runway, had a pb of 10.48 in the 100m.

  • @mpljcbh Just checked again and it was 20.12, but wind assisted (+2.7m/s). I guess that would equate to about 20.3 legal at the slowest. Still blindingly fast for a specialist triple jumper though

  • @mpljcbh By the way do u have any time for any of the other american triple jumper? I am jus collecting some data on them

  • @mpljcbh Is there a website for the american rankings?

  • @mpljcbh Thanks and wow thats quick!!

  • How fast does Mike Conley run 100m in?

  • it's funny how there are no current great american triple jumpers...1 can name 1 or 2 but damn

  • Nobody got 1988 trials triple jump race?

  • Those saying his technique is "shit" obviously don't understand anything about physics. Conley was extremely efficient at conserving horizontal speed off the board, keeping his trajectory low through each phase WHICH IS WHAT YOU SHOULD DO! Conley was also a master at competing when it counted most.

  • His technique is not visually pleasing, like Kristo Markov's, but it is a superb technique because he keeps low enough to conserve his speed through the three jumps. He is almost certainly the fastest triple jumper ever (faster even than Jonathan) and only he could pull off a jump like this.

  • @mpljcbh Do you know his 100m time? i would like to know

  • Is technique ist shit, but... but... FUCK 18.17m !!!

  • oh my willie banks sounds so self centered when he starts saying that the wind was over the limit!

  • Almost Flawless form produces 18m jumps so I'm not sure what form ya'll are looking at? I think it's that the jumpers nowadays don't have form like the old school so we think it's right..shit I know what I'm watching for inspiration!

  • @jediknight08 watch the best Jonathan Edwards, 18.16m & 18.29m breaking the world record in consecutive jumps in Gothenburg 1995 world champs!

  • @dan32113 dude from france just crushed that record this summer in diamond league championships

  • @Jay8941 what? Jonathan Edwards IS the world record holder! 18.29m the frenchman has jumped 17.98. Edwards is 1st man to jump over 18m! Edwards has infact jumped 18.43m wind assisted! FACT

  • @dan32113 the guy teddy tomgo from france jumped 19.08 this summer in diamond league...I watched it myself, and the video is posted on here...

  • @dan32113 look up triple jump world record 2010

  • @dan32113 My bad that was the indoor record...ur right i stand corrected...LOL...and it was 17.90

  • @dan32113 DAMN...lol I just saw the vid...and hell he could have jumped 19.00 if he hadn't shortened his 3rd phase...but great jump

  • @jediknight08 well they speakin from the standpoint of he chopped before he hit the board, and his technique isn't pretty, but he is effective and 1 of the best clutch jumper ever

  • he hardly had any extension, just short jumps...& his running form is baad

  • its a bit stupid how the marker board showing the distance is sat so far back with officials sitting in front of it! I would say conelys technique is actually extremely good- very little speed loss through the phases

  • Wow bad form much?

  • @papano12 why do people think his form is bad, I think it was great actually, he stayed low to the ground, relaxed hip flexor after 2nd phase (1:35), great arm swings, good landing...?

  • Oh my god, in my opinion, his technique is AWFUL

  • @arsenal92 i knoooow, it is not very good for a pro

  • @arsenal92 It's not bad... But he could get a hell of a lot more out of his jump...

  • @Varish73 you should watch his daughter jump

  • @arsenal92 well with his apparently, "bad" technique, he jumped 59 7 and a half. and the technique isnt that bad, actually.

  • @arsenal92 his technique is not awful. his last phase just sucks ass. the rest of his phases are perfect

  • @arsenal92 How so? His technique is geared toward a long 2nd phase. Everybody expects ppl to all jump the same. Not so.

  • @arsenal92 no.....it is good for this time!

  • @arsenal92 dude jump 18.17

  • damn

  • @teddystar93 dont worry teddy u got that easy

  • Great Triple Jump Cometition..

This was always going to happen for mike he had the potential to jump out of the pit.

I long for the 18 meter barrier to be broken again soon..

    thanks..
