They have been skating together so long. I'm thinking since early 1990s, and am sure somebody will know this. What a delight that they returned for Vancouver. I am so happy for them, especially since Zhao had a serious injury (Achielles tendon) prior to Torino. They got another Olympic bronze there, so 2010 must have meant so much to them.

What I really love about this team is that they make every bit of their performances beautiful and interesting. So many pair dancing teams, it seems, simply go out there and showcase their most dangerous or 'cool' tricks; they forget about the story their dance should tell.

Shen/Zhao don't seemed so preoccupied with nailing the 'tricks',but rather they seem intent on sharing a beautiful, exciting story. And if that story happens to involve incredible lifts, jumps, and spins, then so be it. ;)

He's 36! And he still throws her into the air as though she were light as a feather.

And look at her perfect muscle tone! And their speed, perfect unison and chemistry. They've obviously worked so hard.

You can really root for a team like this. Just think of the hard-work they've done, and that horrible injury he skated with at the last Olympics. I still remember watching them at Nagano in 1998 (and Salt Lake City, and Torino) and thinking they were dynamite.

I can't imagine what they went through in the last two years... They have a unfinished dream and are working so hard to make it come true. They are closer than ever to reach the gold which they are so deserved even long time ago...

They always bring that magic combination of power, elegance, and a connection as a couple (that some teams lack imo) to the ice.

And you can tell they're really pushing S&S who though they could muster through their programs, especially the FS to the OGM.  Though we'll have to wait for the FS tomorrow to see whose going to be on top the podium here and then make predictions for Vancouver.
