Although you solo with nice ideas in mind, you have to remember that less is more. You've probably hear this many times but listening to players like Wes Montgomery ,Scofield and especially Larry Carlton wil give you an idea of how you can achiecv a tasty solo without rushing into technicality. I too am a student but youll learn through time that you cantalways solo like vinnie moore, or greg howe without pacing yourself.
@1bulldog998 since he said he is playing in A dorian then he is using all the notes for a G major scale since Dorian is the second mode and A is the second scale degree of G major. He is using all the notes of g major but the diffrence is the root note is now A and note G
thats not how it works. Dorian is 'more to' chord changes in the dorian mode. The pentatonic mode is the dorian / aeolian mode except stripped down to 5 notes which work over both of those minor modes.
nice licks, nice guitar playing, but, your sound isn t that good, and i think you should pay more attention to the backing track. (not that i would play a better solo than you :))
I agree with alex345678. You have good ability and some cool licks but you need to pay more ateention to the backing and get the timing a bit better, and you'll be amazing
This is impressive. You play smoothly and definitely have a lot of technical ability. The only thing I'd recommend is that you try to fit the solo to match the b.t. a little more. But other than that this is definitely good guitar playing.
Tht was really really good. have you got any advice for soloing in the dorian scale? should i learn all 5 shapes before tryin to solo in it. Iv basically got the blues and pentatonic covered, i need an interesting scale to learn, preferably used in jazz.
Well the Dorian mode is a lot like the minor pentatonic, just with a couple more notes. Also it has 7 shapes, not 5. Its a good one for jazzy blues sorta stuff though. Check out the Guthrie Govan video called "Pirate Modes" for a good example.
For the Dorian scale I'd call the root position the one that has the root note under your first finger on the low E string but it doesn't really matter as long as you know where your root is.
i have the same floating bridge as the one you have on your guitar in the vid whats you method of intonating and tuning you got any tips im at a loose end
Great chops!

i don't really get the modi,
I mean you can play all the notes on the exact same order as a scale.
But how do you play it whit improvising because i think it sounds boring if you just follow the scale.
