I will never forget this game. It has one of the best atmospheres and storylines I've ever been lucky enough to find. I miss the music, the characters, the lore. All of it. If only this series had become as popular as the Final Fantasy franchise, maybe today we would have games worth playing.

@starkingxxx If I remember correctly you had to have the PS memory card in slot 2 when you started a new game. It would ask you if you wanted to load the data...and well it's fairly academic from there :)

Loved the game, and LOVED the intro! Just watching the intro and listening to the song pulled at my heartstrings with all the passion mixing with both the images and the song. When I had the game, I would watch the intro over and over before I ever actually went about playing the game. Lol! Definately would make an awesome anime, though, me thinks. :D

Best intro in the series. The game itself is good story-wise but the battle system has a lot of issues (like hitting your own people), there are far too many scripted battles and little freedom in building your own team until the very end. Unless you want a perfect Suikoden collection just read the manga for the story.

Suikoden 3 was the first PS2 game i ever got and i had it before i even had a PS2. I would play it on a friend's PS2 cause of how 2 was i didn't want to have to pay $100 for it.

I prefer Suikoden III than any other. I just enjoyed the point of view from the three main characters, and the others. I've played this so many times, hehe. I just wish it was voiced. Also, I liked how the main characters actually talked. I don't like how in the others the main character doesn't really talk unless you make the decisions for him. I liked how part III combined both of them. I hope part VI will have something like this.

Beeing one of the Suikoden series greates funs (n.32 at global S.V. funclub) i can also confirm you that IV is the worse of the 5 main suikoden games. More based on grafics than story. I, II & V are the best but havving played them all is even better. Sugested order? As they came out. You can't get to find the first 2 anymore? Then let's enjoy again this intro from the 3 and as many said before me: Wikipedia is your friend.

My favorites: 5,3,2,1,4. 2 was a bit overhyped to me by the time I got to it, though, to be fair. 3 had the most epic storyline, like, ever, but blew it all on the battle and map system, but that's the one that REALLY made me a fan. It's a shame that the exec producer left after 3 though, because if Suikoden had kept on the pace of 3's storyline, it would be the most concentrated epic win of all time.

(A little bit of that would be nostalgia, since 2 and 5, and then 4 and 1, were all probably fairly close in terms of length/quality for the times. But maybe not... 2 was a seriously good game (well so was 5). And 4 had some serious annoyances.

Anyhow "better" can be a hard thing to define, since some people like it best, but I think general opinion seems to be that it's about halfway. It did some things differently, at least. Some good, some bad.
