I can honestly say that I never ate Tang out of the jar. I can also honestly say that I threw a lot of Post Super Sugar Crisp in the trash when nobody was looking. Alpha-Bits was alright, but sort of plain. I did like Honeycomb. For some reason, the cereal pieces looked much larger when I was a kid. Maybe because I was smaller, but it does seem the pieces have shrunk over the years. I bought a box of it a year or so ago for nostalgia's sake and was suprised by the small pieces.
have been looking for this the past 30 years!!! eaven called kraft co.and was sent to the advertising agency that made the sat moring commercial.. waiting to hear back from them... 1969 moon landing... THANKS FOR POSTING!!
I still know how to do "The Moonwalk!" Can't remember anything from school but remember every commercial I ever saw...this one was great...after a glass of Tang which was pure sugar...we danced all day...many many thanks for posting!
Amazing how much Tang I drank as a kid, and I can't stand the stuff today. Still, I used to "FORCE" myself to eat Post Super Sugar Crisp cereal to get the first and second free sets of Archies cardboard records. I hated that cereal. Was very glad that the third and fouth sets came on the backs of Post Honeycomb and Post Alpha-Bits cereals. I liked them much better.
I have a couple of those cardboard records somewhere...Post Alpha-Bits actually could tear the inside of your mouth! I also HATED Post Super Sugar Crisp...I can still taste that awful aftertaste!! I remember eating Tang out of the jar...so the lyric Tang, Tang, BANG BANG is absolutely correct!!!
LOL...now that I think about it, the prize inside or outside of the cereal box always was more important than the crappy-tasting stuff inside. I remember struggling through boxes of that horrible Super Sugar Crisp (puffed wheat coated with sugary resin) to get those cardboard records too...sometimes you had to put a penny or two on the tone arm to weigh it down so they would play.
It always seemed like the worst tasting cereals had the best prizes. I was soooooooo glad when the cardboard Archies records switched over from Sugar Crisp to Honeycomb and Alpha-Bits. I can't believe Sugar Crisp (now renamed to Golden Crisp) is still on the market. How do kids eat that stuff? And then a couple of years later, Sugar Bear formed his own group, called the Sugar Bears, and had his own group's cardboard records on the back of Sugar Crisp again.
Yeah, it says tons when the music from a commercial would have made a great song single. An extended version of this up-beat tune would have been a great summertime hit.
Yeah, been an Archies fan for almost 40 years now. I only wish VCRs were around back then so I could have taped some of these old commercials, and so of the original CBS Saturday morning broadcasts of these shows. It's amazing how much stuff has been lost over the years. I have not been able to find the video of this Tang commercial, even though older ones still exist. Strange.
Toni did the "Meow Mix" jingle? The one that went "Meow Meow Meow Meow, Meow Meow Meow Meow", etc.? I never knew this. Very interesting. Yes, Toni has always been a great talent. But put her and Ron Dante together, and the result is sheer magic.
Toni Wine is now touring with Tony Orlando and the Lefty Brothers Band. I saw them at Fallsview Casino. Toni has a long and noble history in the music business (she wrote "Candida", among other things). But her most famous performance was singing the Meow Mix jingle! She gave us a little sample of it at the Fallsview concert.
Tang!...and "Space Food Sticks!" Oh, brother, a standard diet for any kid during the days of the Apollo program! LOL!

@arkady714 I drank my share of it!! Everytime I see it in the store now, I'm tempted to buy a jar... just to see if it tastes the same, but....

Hey why did they stop making Tang anyways>
I had a neon-orange t-shirt with the Tang (Orangu)tang on it !
blunklaura 1 year ago
@blunklaura I'm pretty sure they still make it... at least the orange flavored one anyway. Don't think they make the grape flavored Tang anymore.
windsorbear 1 year ago
@windsorbear According to Kraft's website, Grape Tang is still available.

@smittykins I wonder if the taste of the Grape flavor has improved after 40 years???
