Beginners obviously can't start with, for example, Jason Becker, so they stick with easy, cool and known music - not everybody likes technical progressive speed instrumental tracks with 15+ minutes, you know.

And an easy song for you might be a hard song for a beginner, so they deserve those props. Stuff you consider hard might be easy for some other guitar players, that doesn't give them the right to bash your skill level.
