  • you replaced the gasket because you were spewing oil? I am replacing mine b/c someone recommended it when they smelled oil burning and saw a puddle under my car.

  • Mine is the same...just two rubber grommets and a tube of RTV..

  • Quick correction, that's not an EGR valve. Its a valve for the secondary air system, the EGR valve in on the left hand side near the fuel rail.

  • Something really strange about some saturns( mine specifically, 1995 SL1) it doesn't use a normal gasket, just black silicone, they handed me a box about the size of the valve cover at autozone and when I opened it, it was just a tube of silicone and two new bolt gaskets lol. Confusing as hell at first. Lol

  • great video, thanks for posting! im changing the valve cover gaskets on my 98 saturn this afternoon, and this is exactly what i needed to see.

  • Wow!!! Several problems here.First, never ever remove the spark plugs unless you replace them immediately. You WILL get debris in the cylinders.Second, the PCV valve does not flow oil into the cover. It is a breather to release gas from the engine so it can be reburned. That said, you only need RTV in the corners shown in the video. The oil in the spark plug wells is most likely from the center plug gasket in the valve cover. As for torque sequence, google it.Different years use different sequences.

  • The instructions i have say to put a bead of rtv in the cover groove before installing the gasket to act as a glue so the gasket doesnt fall out when you turn it over, since you didnt use rtv did you have a problem with the gasket falling out when you turned the cover over.?

  • If I have oil in one of the four tubes, what do your instincts tell you...That would not be the Valce Cover Gasket, would it?

  • @nbkyqks yes it would

  • @nbkyqks I have the same problem, but i also have oil from the valve cover too

  • @nbkyqks well, its either the gasket, a cracked head, or loose spark plug.

  • Thanks Sir, so you said you have a blog that will show me how to tighten the bolts and also what kind of manual are you using?

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for the comment. Actually the only place that is needed is on the left side, top and bottom corners where the block connects together. That's how it was stock and what the manuals say.

  • @LucidDreamTricks NO!!!!!
