You know before I saw this video I wasn't really frustrated by pine at all. I was purdy content being dumb and thinking everything I was doing looked pretty good. Well now I have all this new information and apparently a whole lot more to fret over. Thanks! I have one question, though. I know we've been over how pine blotches and doesn't hold stains n dyes evenly. How does a clear finish over unstained pine hold up? Does it age blotchy when it ambers over time?
Very informative, thanks. I really appreciate you addressing the big box options and issues since is what most beginners start with. Clear and concise stile.
Mr Neil, I dig your videos. Very informative. Really like that you put so much on the finish. I have been woodworking for years now ( jr high and 36 now) and it is all about the finish product. Appreciate that the old school is giving some tricks. As we really have to make this trade survive. I was blessed, working with some really talented craftsmen and it does show in my work. Functional art. Thanks again. Thumbs up buddy. Gary Vander Zwaag
I was fabricating a side table for a friend. He asked me what I was building it with. I told him pine, He said WOW if you really know what yer doin you can make it look like plywood. I still laugh everytime I think about it. The table turned out great and being PINE, it fit in perfectly. THANK Charles. I love yer stuff
Charles; My dove-Tail’s always have big gaping spacing all around sides and bottom and they never fill in like the videos everyone does and they always look so childish. I guess I should just accept the fact that I will never have the ability to cut dovetail and just go for the folk craft look (ROTFLMBFAO)! Charles you’re a prince and a wonderful woodworker and friend. I hope that the day will someday come that we can meet face to face someday. Eternal regards
Charles; LOL; You’re such a hoot! I never know what you’re going to say. It’s only my opinion that the TV thing would be wonderful (Ha, ha) but I understand that it is such a hassle and a nuisance and a physical strain on the ole body. You have a wonderful way of explaining and demonstrating things and you would be quite successful should you change your mind. (You’re so much fun to chat with) I truly do cherish our friendship! Where should I E-Mail for the info?
Hey Charles great Job on this video as usual a fantastic wealth of information.
Thanks so much for sharing your expertize in the area of woodworking and finishing.
Anyone who has not seen your other videos is missing a lot. Besides being accomplished fine master woodworker your one of the finest human beings I know..continued success to you and your great family
