Hey man, awesome composition! Funny little question though, where do you get/what kind are those patch cables? All the RCA's that i find are so boring looking . . .
@maxflamehead violin is a really great instrument to master touch control, as you really learn to space your finger uniformely from one tme to another, i wish i could play a bowed instrument, anyone of them lol
Hi there! Nice beats... I'm thinking of buying the ESX-1 and KP3 although I'm not sure I have enough in and outputs :/ Got Cubase Studio 5, KRK RP 5 G2 and an EMU 0404 soundcard... I want to connect the ESX-1, KP3 and KRK RP 5 G2 to my soundcard but are there enough connecters?? If not, what should I then get so it will work?? please help :)
one commonly used trick is to use the kp3 only with the ESX by plugging the outs 3-4 into the kp3 ins and returning the kp3 in the esx audio in, and sending the parts you want to FX to out 3/4 and turning on the audio in thru, everything wil go by outs 1-2 into your soundcard input
if you want to effect the computer sound, youll need another soundcard with 4 ins 4 outs OR you unplug the speakers, plug 0404 outs in KP3 and return KP3 in the 0404 ins, then solo the track and play it back
plug some headphones in the KP to monitor, the drawback is you just hear th epart you are fx ing, not the part in contet, for that a 4 IO soundcard would be perfect, kep the outs 1-2 for the monitors and use out 3-4 in the kp3 and outs of the kp3 in the ins 3-4 of your soundcard, then set up an external effect in cubase on the track you wish to x and you can tweak it in context (or go old school and just send the track to out 3-4 and record a new track with ins 3-4
(my method, so i can use multiple "instances" of the kp3 on as many tracks as i want, while the external fx is god for 1 fx that you need to tweak every bounce, while the direct out and record allows you to "automate" each track via the KP (even the whole mix) and have that tweaking saved and not needed to be redone every bounce, but experimenting and finding your method is really the key to make this work
hope this helps and that i'm still coherent, don't hesitate to ask if i wasn't clear :)
Great to hear... What do you think of the DSI Evolver?? I want to make Electro House and Trance, and sometime go live... at the moment, my choise of buying is the ESX-1, KP3, RME Fireface 400, got headphones and a little keyboard from korg for fun... this investment will cost me around 2000 $ later I will buy the DSI Evolver and KRK RP 6 G2, although should I wait the KP3 and go for the DSI right away?? :)
do you want more an fx processor or a synth (which one do you need for your songs to work?)
the ausio interface is more for the studio side than the love side, but just an ESX and a KP3 can give a god show if you know your gear inside and out
I think I'll go with the KP3 to begin with... later on I might get an DSI but for the time being I'll start with ESX-1 and KP3 and ofcause the RME, get to know those two in and out so to speak
just what I thought... so now it all cost together 2700 $ which is pretty cheap considering I'm from Denmark... wonder if it's cheaper in Germany, gonna find out soon
@loociousz Thats a tough one. Honestly... I think with the DSI and a good software DAW I could do anything. I have a kaos pad / kp3 and my friend has the esx1... they are a ton ton ton of fun... more fun than any other equipment IMO...but i have yet to use any of the music ive made with that hardware in my recorded music. all my recorded music is straight from softsynths and my midi keyboard. The dsi has some amazing sounds on it. im so jealous of people who have them
@grenadezeroone Okay... My idea is to use the esx-1 and kp3 as the mixing unit with the all the sound I got and then record it into cubase and afterworse edit it in cubase and supply the track with effects the esx-1 and kp3 can't do... Would that be possible?
@loociousz lol I meant to say kaossilator and a kp3 below. But yeah I suppose thats possible. The kp3 doesnt have a whole lot of options really. you can just record four (up to) 16 beat samples and basically only adjust the volume of them. also as far as i can tell, you can only apply the effects to the entire signal going through the kp3...and not to individual samples that you sampled. I'm trying to figure out if theres a way to only use the kp3's effects on one of the sampled buttons, idk
@loociousz I think if you made loops on the esx-1 and then applied the FX to them on the kp3 then recorded to cubase... and did this for every single loop you did...individually... you could get around that... but i dunno. maybe im wrong & theres a way. i havent fully figured out the kp3 yet. in any case id rather have a good soundcard, a good controller with keys/sliders/knobs, and lastly a good synth that can get sound no softsynths really get... cuz you can really do any beat in a daw right?
@loociousz im thinking about selling my kp3 and my friend is selling his esx-1. I'm totally keeping the kaossilator though... I LOVE that thing. I can get faded and sit there for hours with it. Then again... although I've gotten the most use out of it in terms of...well using it... i haven't recorded anything from it. It's just a whole lotta fun.
@grenadezeroone Well think I have found my setup, but think for your help... right now I'm leaning towards a MOTU ULTRALITE MKIII, DSI Mopho (mainly bass), Waldorf Blofeld (mainly effects), Novation Nocturn (controlling VST-plugins) and KRK RP 5 G2, working together wiith Cubase Studio 5.... think I'm gonna route the Blofeld (midi I/O motu) and Mopho other outs and in, ofc. the KRK with stereo... although there could be another (don't know) but is this a good setup or not? for a beginner :)
@loociousz Dang... big spender... haha. Well it sounds like a pretty rad setup to me. I'll be super jealous, if you post videos send them to me! I haven't really played with the motu so i cant comment on that. Cubase is oldschool hahaha. I haven't used it since like 1998! :) didnt know they still updated it regularly.
@grenadezeroone just saved some money up for the purchase :) well... I have taken the mopho off for now, just gonna use the Waldorf Blofeld, Roland SH-201, same soundcard and monitors to start with... Well they have launched the Cubase Studio 5 and Cubase 5, maybe I'll add a Clavia Nord Lead 2x or Virus C, not sure yet :)
because i own it, and it's meant as a "silence fixer" for the kaossilator lack of realtime "fixin
my kp3 usually sith in my big rig as an effect, but when i use my mini rig(this one) it's mostly a sampler to accomodate the way-to-basic looper of the k01, the k01+mini kp combo is kind of stand alone(but boring a bit, it's my micro rig)
no i also play on my "big rig/spaceship" most of the time, it's actually been 10 months since i last played with the minis by themselves, thanks a lot for watching and taking time to comment
too long start and to bord!!! :P

if you want to have one individually do you just hook it up to speakers?
DailyDosageOfDaft1 1 year ago
@DailyDosageOfDaft1 the kaossilator yes, the mini kp produces no sound unless there is some audio fed in it
muzik4machines 1 year ago
@muzik4machines thanks and im assuming that the same goes with the kaossilator pro?
DailyDosageOfDaft1 1 year ago
@DailyDosageOfDaft1 yep, since its a synth, it produces audio by itself

thanks for the reply :) but think I'm just gonna an MOTU 828 or the RME fireface 400 instead... that would solve my problem right?? :)
loociousz 2 years ago
wise choise, i use a traveler myself since it's out, never had an issue
RME is even higher quality, and the drivers area mong, if not, the best of the industry

why use the KP mini if you have a KP3?
catzblu999 2 years ago
because he uses kp3 for both effecting (an already effected sound) and for sampling. And because 2 is better than 1.. o.O
KeithRonaldssen 2 years ago
because i own it, and it's meant as a "silence fixer" for the kaossilator lack of realtime "fixin

what do you mean as a silence fixer?
catzblu999 2 years ago
because when you "fix" on the k01, it stops the playback, i needed something to fill in those gaps, hence the delay from the miniKP
