  • The only way this ship lost was through hacks. Defiant 4 lyfe

  • The defiant was a awesome ship I wanted to buy the toy but can't find it

  • just had a thought i feel bad for worf, I mean he just witnessed the destruction of the Enterprise now another ship bits the dust..I want that alarm for a smoke detector indicator.

  • Anyone ever noticed that during lost battles with the defiant, that there are no Galaxy ships lost at all damaged yeah. The only galaxy star ship lost was the Odyssey during the early years before the formal war begun.

  • That Ship Is Gone!

  • where did the escape pods go or end up after ejection?

  • @protossrock1 I guess some of the other Federation ships beamed them on board or stuff

  • love the abandon ship alarm

  • Weyuon was a great sci-fi villain.

  • Nasty buddy, thats wat NASA should build if there was a NASA to buildt them, lol thats whyt tht underr because, they built cheap ships, lol

  • @JayMANeNC31 "whyt tht underr"

Failed third grade spelling? You're not alone...

  • This is my favorite ds9 battle scene...finally the defiant gets its ass whooped...i was tired of ds9 blasting galaxy class ships left and right.

  • Every time I watch this episode, it brings a tear to my eye when Sisko says "abandon ship" and the alarm sounds.

  • this is when sisko lost his first pimp cain.

  • Why is it always "Attack pattern delta"?

  • @manweller1 it usually works

  • @manweller1 because its classic.

  • @manweller1 I suspect that this is a standard pattern for such ships as the Defiant, which have high firepower and maneuverability.

  • F7U12 Weyoun....

  • Well, it wasn´t a great showdown for that great ships two hits and gone it was. I´ll miss it.

  • @Spaninator the loss of power crippled her. I suspect that it was some sort of EMP weapon.

  • @RaptureMan117. I love that movie!

  • Ion cannon!!

  • Great scene. Poor Defiant. Watching it again, I find it a bit amusing that Worf (strongest person on the bridge) leaves Bashir (probably the weakest male there) to pick up Kira.

  • @Meushell I believe Bashir possesses superhuman strength due to his genetic enhancements.

He is probably stronger than Worf.

  • @Archedgar I've seen that assumed by fans, but I don't recall the show itself ever declaring he had superhuman strength. To quote him, "My IQ jumped five points a day for over two weeks. Followed by improvements in my hand-eye coordination, stamina, vision, reflexes, weight, height. In the end, everything but my name was altered in some way." He doesn't mention strength, and while that is a genetic enhancement in others, not everyone is enhanced the same way. For instance, when he meets Jack

  • @Meushell he is asked if he could do a backflip, which Jack demonstrates that he can. Bashir doesn't think he could. Jack remarks with "What happened? Your parents couldn't afford the full overhaul?" With that, while he was physically enhanced, I don't think strength was one of them...at least not to the point of being superhuman.

  • @Meushell The show openly states that Bashir has superhuman strength on several occasions.

Off of the top of my head; it is mentioned in the baseball episode (Take me out to the Holosuite) by Captain Sisko, when he makes a statement along the lines of "They(Vulcans) are stronger and faster than any of us except Worf and Dr. Bashir"

  • @Archedgar

Its somewhere in ST canon that Bashir was indeed genetically engineered. They were going to use him as the basis to make the LTEMH (long term emergency medical hologram) aka...the Mark 2 but couldnt because of his engineering. So we ended up with that dipshit emh that appeared on the prototype federation ship USS Prometheus on ST Voyager "Message in a Bottle" episode. They ended up reworking Zimmermans model (Voyager) for starfleet that we seen on ST: First Contact.

  • @Archedgar Dont start with Worf..he can kick anyones ass..except for data.

  • Poor little Defiant!!! She was a very neat ship!!!

  • Uss Defiant was kredit to team!

  • @miloootic Well the defiant also has ablative armor and thus fares better after shield failure. Essentially, the Defiant is the ultimate ST warship-such vessels as the Borg cube and "Endgame" Voyager are superior only because of extreme tech (Voyager) or massive size (Borg)

  • @tnphysics the defiant is 130m to 160m depending on its screen time (they never got the scale right) the ship is small in size really small the ablative hull isent in a defiant class original specs. coz the hull volume is tiny it needs the ablative hull armor to stay alive. compare its hull to the size of a torpedo,a single torp could cause massive hull breach thats why it has the armor, plus it shields arent as strong as an intrepid or a galaxy since its deflector dish is so small as well.

  • Comment removed

  • Did anyone notice that Nana Visitor really botched that "fall" from the helm console? lol

  • no way to seel breaches without emergency force fields seams like a bad disign flaw shouldnt they of added some emergencie bulkheads 2

  • @tonysixwing Well if there is no power for the emergency force fields then it is conceivable that there would be no power to lower the bulkheads.

  • Someone should be held accountable for the lose of all those ships as this was a massive intelligence failure not knowing what the Breen ships were capable off.

  • i remember watching this the first time, my heart stopped

  • i think that this was the only fight we saw, that Sisko lost.

  • "Poor Captain Sisko... I believe he was quite fond of that ship..."

    Classic Weyun :D

  • @3imperium3 Weyoun, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all

  • @musicalcaptain

    That was Weyoun's last clone.

I hoped you would say that.

  • @3imperium3 His orders to the Jem'Hadar in the finale episode are still his best :)

  • If Species 8472 came, they would have conquered both the Feds and the Dominion.

  • @PhotonicDoctor wrong series.

  • @littlemegamonkey But same time line. Voyager left when DS9 was on. Even Chakotey did state to Belana that Alpha Quadrant was in war with the Dominion and the borg too were attacking. So again I state that Species 8472 and they were planning an attack on the Alpha Quadrant but Janeway persuaded them to go back home would have ripped the Dominion and everyone else to shreds. We don't even know how many of them are out there in the fluidic space. Also, it took 9 Bioships to destroy a planet.

  • @PhotonicDoctor still, the Federation would have won. the uss ben sisko's mother fucking pimp hand would have seen to that.

  • @littlemegamonkey You just don't get it do u. If Species 8472 came all would have been dead. Nothing can stop them unless u have nanoprobes. 8472 are so quick at wiping out a planet, no feds or even dominion can do that. Plus them being a telepathic race, Sisko or others would still do nothing against them. Kes from Voyager had trouble blocking them. So there. What can feds and dominion do? Suicide runs don't work on a telepathic race.

  • @PhotonicDoctor

species 8472 ships can be damaged, even crippled, by conventional weapons as seen in scorpion and prey. they appear to operate in small groups making them vulnerable to dominion swarm tactics, especially considering their eagerness for ramming attacks

  • @zzxcvb98 there is a lot that we don't know about species 8472. Just because in fluidic space a few of the nioships got wiped out, does not mean they don't have a defense against that. trust me they can over come anything. Plus they are telepathic.

  • @PhotonicDoctor

they're telepathic, but they've only been shown to communicate with other telepathic beings. they could try to subvert vulcan/betazoid starfleet officers etc, but it wouldn't be a problem for most other powers (dominion, klingons, romulans, cardassians, breen).

  • @zzxcvb98 Do u know how difficult it is to kill species 8472. Do u honestly think all those powers combined can topple them? I doubt it. I mean they can try and there will be massive loses but the truth is, Species 8472 are not easily beaten. Hirogen hunters had a difficulty killing a wounded one and that was with the help from Seven. In that episode, it was the borg cube, a 28 cubic km in volume that destroyed the bioship and its basically a 3 km size ship. traveling at light speed

  • @zzxcvb98 Dominion has nothing on Species 8472. U say a few ships at a time, they can change that and have u seen how fast they blew up the borg planet. Now tell me how can dominion stop that. FLuidic space is vast. Its another dimension. Who knows how many bioships they got. Billions. They did say our galaxy will be purged. The weak shall perish. Something like that. All they need to to is wipe a few cloning factories and there is a huge reduction of dominion troops.

  • @PhotonicDoctor

for all their power, 8472 seems to be fairly timid - they retreated in a panic after janeway entered their realm and used the nanoweapon, and they were only invaded the galaxy out of perceived self-defense, under the assumption that everyone in it was out to get them. in all likelihood they fear aliens and would be reluctant to commit to a war.

also, when voyager dropped into fluidic space only four bioships were able to intercept them

  • @zzxcvb98 u are describing a scenario that was written by writers. If everything was laid open on the table and in full force they came, not even the borg would be able to stop them. Have u heard seven how she told janeway that it would take a specific number of nanoprobes to destroy whatever is there in the size of a solar system i think. and janeway proposed to use it to scare them a bit. Just because a few got canned, does not mean they cant protect themselves. Time is not on borg or fed side

  • @PhotonicDoctor

8472 could've been invaded and exterminated by the borg after they got the nanoprobe technology; janeway's handing over the probes may have been too late

  • @fang207984 They said that all power is offline. They didn't even have enough power to seal the hull breaches. Let alone engage warp and initiate a transport.

  • one hit (basically) and WHAMMO!

  • Umm...why is that during a tense battle during a war, when there are bound to be many wounded, Julian Bashir, the CMO is on the bridge at a console?

  • The final volley at the Defiant was the penultimate insult. While other starships we're damaged beyond repair, they chose to annihilate the Defiant. The pain in Sisko's voice when he tells the crew to abandon ship emboldens the tragedy.

  • fuck =O hmm i'll bet the klingons saw the power dissipators as dishonourable, they meant that noone could put up a fight, and in that sense, it is rather unfair, but that's war i guess. it's nice to know though that we got revenge for this defeat soon after =D

  • I hated to see the little Defiant destroyed, too. Federation starships just aren't invulnerable. Always something there to remind them that there are other races out there, who sometimes pull ahead in technology, and technology is at its best during times of war. I wonder why none of the other Federation starships are attacking, just the Defiant. So easily destroyed, it was. Ablative armor didn't last long.

  • @MrRwalker6

For a DS9 battle, it lasted a lifetime. This is the show that traded in naval like battles, for dogfights. I mean look at the first volley they shot at the Breen. Split that ship in two in seconds. Apparently, everyone has forgotten they have shields and refuse to raise them.

  • @Uridien Seriously. Get USS Enterprise in there, with the shields that baby had in TNG, it could have withstood 100 Jemhadar ships. Only problem would have been it would have taken Enterprise a few hours to destroy one ship.

  • AHHHH, I fucking hated it when this happened. >:(

  • Love that, thanks! :D

  • Was this after they switched over to all-CGI, or were they still using motion-control photography? Either way, this is one of the most impressive battle sequences for any of the "Trek" series.

  • geez, the air space reminds of the I 10 freeway in los angeles during rush hour.
