How were people who were born before Jesus saved?

This is stupid, you don't know what your talking about... you talk about a lot of things but have no proof or verse to prove your claims one by one, you even forgets verses in the Bible? How can people believe you?

If the old testament is a jewish book, then why is it used in christianity? Jesus was jewish!!! Jesus couldn't have been christian, because he would have had to believe in himself! Jesus was sent to earth BY GOD alone! But by the coming of christ in the new testament, it should have opened the eyes of people to believe in jesus! He is the only way to God!

I'm amazed that someone of the 21st century is so small minded! Even the Roman church concedes that through God's mercy God's salvation may possibly be attained through other faiths The key to Jesus teaching is on how to conduct one's life and to connect to the divine. Do you realize that some of Jesus' parables are found in the Buddhist scriptures which predate HIm (ie. prodigal son) He obviously had some familiarity with other thought besides Judaism so I wouldn't be so quick to condem.

@robcd35 Well, that may be....but that's what Christ teaches: "I am the way, the truth, and the life...no one comes to the Father except through me"...........the heart of Christianity is not the Law or what we do...the heart of Christanity is What God has done in Jesus Christ to save us from sin, death, and damnation. That's the Gospel...The Gospel makes Christianity unique ..not the Law...everyone knows the Law (even a Buddhist, etc) beause it is written on man's heart..not so the Gospel

@robcd35 If Savlation is obatianed from other faiths, what is the need for faith religon at all? Not only have you negated Christ's death and resurection, but also have undermided the unique claims of other religons. If God has a purpose for us (immortal begins) beyond death. And He makes a differance between those He finds useful for that purpose and those He does not, those immortal souls, the ones who God has determined to be of no use to Him, will need a place i.e. hell.

If god is an anthropomorphic being or otherwise general entity, then at some point an entity had to come into existence. To answer that nothing did because god has always existed would simply be circular logic that carries implications, If god has always existed, then existence must have also, if god therefore exists, he does so because of existence, therefore he is subordinate to existence and NOT all powerful.

How many "Original" lutherans are there? 20 million maybe. 70 million if you include all the break aways which are not really Lutheran. Thats hardly a majority amoung the over 2 billion christians of the world. Why should I believe you over the church fathers? This is the exact reason the church was afraid of everyone reading the bible. It is really easy to form your own conclusions due to misunderstaning or diliberate misuse. Even Martin Luther knew that. Hi..we honor the Church Fathers except when they deviate from Scripture. No one can be saved apart from the promise of Jesus Christ...whether that promise is in the O.T. which speaks of His coming or in the N.T. announcing his arrival. Saint Justin Martyr said in 100AD that all who lived their life arording to reason before Christ came were christians, even the semi athiest philosophers like Socrates. He probably walked with Saint Peter who is said to have died in 93 AD. If the apostles them selfs taught such things then it must be true.

Regarding being saved, I have a question regarding this. In my line of work, I deal with some people that are literally insane. I doubt very much that these people go to church much less pray every night. Whether or not they were born this way or acquired it over time, how is one saved that is literally insane? Or have mental illnesses that cause them to do things the ordinary person would not do? (Like Jeffrey Dahmer for example)
