I also believe this vid should be deleted/redone. Anyone who knows the true history of this drink will tell you it cannot be called a 'Mai Tai' without Rock Candy syrup.
for our own new and improved drinks.... not found here sadly.... also for a business sense, if you want people to respect your company... don't post abusive remarks back to those constructively criticizing you like "Thanks for your comments. Another know nothing internet expert." that really endears your already misfortune future customers.... in fact keep it up... and you wont ruin the potential talent of any more future bartenders
Close but no cigar... you have made two videos of this recipe and still not correct. Please stop claiming this is an original when it is not the original recipe. Dark rum (preferably jamaica and rhum agricole to get that ages wray nephew taste) Triple Sec, Orgeat (pronounced with the t BTW), cane syrup (rock candy if found) and fresh lime.... Btw again, we all comment criticisms to stop you diluting the brains of future bartenders. and we search your drinks because we are looking forinspiration
@jtiano We don't have to ask him. We have their books. Tried looking up "Tiki Safari" but didn't get anything. You can't keep doing this. I'm going through all the stages of grief over your channel, and I'm now at the point of Anger/Bargaining. I will do literally anything to get you to make a cocktail right. Please help me. I'm about to enter Depression/Reflection/Loneliness, and frankly, I'm scared. I'm scared to wallow in the scope of damage you've already done. Please right your wrongs.
Trader Vics' "Tiki Party" book on pg 70 gives the following recipe [not the crap you just put together] 1oz Gold Rum 1oz Dark Rum 1/2 oz Lime Juice 1/2 oz Orange Curaco 1/4 oz Simple Syrup 1/4 oz Orgeat 2 cups Crushed Ice 1 sprig Mint 1 Fruit Stick Sorry, unless you can cite a Trader Vic book with your recipe, it is NOT the original TV Mai-Tai, what you just made is NOT the TV MT.
If you were a real bartender instructor, you wouldn't need to be looking to cue cards for the recipe. And you do pronounce the Orgeat incorrectly. And no, this is not the Original Trader Vic recipe. There is no Triple Sec, and no Sweet and Sour in the recipe. Also you are missing the orange curacao, lime and the simple syrup [aka rock candy syrup]. What you made.. I have no idea... maybe a redneck version of a Mai Tai, but not the real thing. You'd get kicked out of Vegas for making that!
We provide recipes with easy to find ingredients. When's the last time you saw rocky candy syrup for sale?

This is NOT the Trader Vics Mai Tai!
Delete this video, you ruin the reputation of the Mai Tai!
This is right:
1oz Aged Jamaica Rum
1oz Rhum Agricole
1/2 Orange Curacao
1/4oz Orgeat
1/4 oz Rock Candy Syrup
2/3 to 3/4 oz fresh lime
