Maybe because he is an unethical lier. He had a major conflict of interest while he was on the House Banking Committee (which had jurisdiction over Fannie Mae) - he was sleeping with the Fannie executive who created the sub-prime programs there (Herb Moses), and Barney lies about his efforts to block regulations of the GSE's.
