i play the trombone as well. i am pretty equal with both the trumpet and trombone. i like both sounds that each one make, but i still like the trumpet better. (i played trombone until last month, then i switched back to trumpet)
I haven't heard this band play this song in more than twenty years, when they were first trying to put it all together. The tb player is not named, but his first name is Don, too, I remember. He was an elementary school music teacher, and I have always believed that he played the damndest "Trombone Rag" I ever heard -- better than any of the top tier jazz bands, even. Maybe even better than Turk Murphy. And look at this! Rory Thomas playing with LCDJB! Wow!

This tune is Turk Murphy's Trombone Rag written in 1942.
