I've been looking for Mark Isham's stuff for a while.I dunno if the trumpet player is the movie theme writer. He sure plays trumpet like he doesn't write themes for movies.
He drills the mother load with his trumpet.
It's like he sticks the musical ecstacy electrode in my brain when he plays.
@crushedz Wow, that sounds pretty good! His Wikipedia page says "Mark Isham (born September 7, 1951) is an American trumpeter, synthesist, and film composer. He works in a variety of genres, including jazz, electronic, and film."
@johnalexwood I reckon real talent-capability+ creativity, takes the practioner into unchartered waters of themselves and the world, and finds a way to takes us there, extending the boundaries, deepening the experience.
Dare I say it,there is an implication-or maybe an ill-informed assumption on my part.
@crushedz Hell yeah, it's Mark Isham the movie theme writer. He was more known in my youth as a trumpeter and more recently for doing the scores. He kicks ass. Sometimes it's subtle, but he's kicking it out. Would love to see him live. Would love to see Dave Grusin live too, but Dave is getting up there and hardly tours.
What about a pointed stick? Shut up! Yeah, I love that sketch too! I also have all 45 shows on DVD - bliss! Cardinal Biggles. Cardinal Fang. Beautiful plumage etc - fantastic stuff! Hey, my step bro lives in Caracas!
By the way I'm a huge fan of Monty Python too, "dead parrot and Spanish inquisition" are two of my favorites sketches and the personal defense class is the favorite of my two sons (11 & 16 years old), they are still in Venezuela and I left there all of my DVD's and CD's ( I have the orange box from A & E with the whole 4 years of the show), but they'll come to USA at the end of the school years with my wife to star a new life again here.
@jorgel216 Sorry it's taken me a whole year to reply! You're a Monty Python fan, so you've obviously got class! You should add yourself as one of the biggest Python fans on my python-esque blog on blogspot! All the best :)
Well..., very tempting, but actually I'm at the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, I live in Florida right now ( I lived in Venezuela for 46 years), but now that I'm here I'll try to catch a concert here in the US and send you a video or at least some photos. Thanks any way.

@kishgoldsmith Know what you mean - he's awesome on that trumpet of his! He's also a very active Scientologist working to help improve society.

too bad that I can't find any of his works in discotheques or through torrent. I don't mean movie soundtracks

Mark is performing the main title from THE COOLER in this clip - in case anyone's wondering the piece is.

Well why not come to the show this year (October) as Mark is very likely to be in the line up? He has been part of this gig for years now.

Is nice to see him play live, even for a minute. Thanks... Were you there ?
jorgel216 3 years ago
Yes, I took the video. Was in the audience. Mark was one of the acts - it's an awesome annual gig, in aid of charity!
