@ifkgotet Sorry for the late reply- I have been away for a while. Thank you, thank you! I have loved this film for 43 years, and finally know what the song says. I do appreciate it. I guess that the lyrics are meant to be ironic.
@coralarch did you know that the actress playing elvira got the role just because she at the time was girlfriend to the swedish king (crown prince) carl xvi gustaf? the producer bo widerberg saw a picture of her in the newspaper and thought of her for the role of elvira. she was only seventeen and had never done any acting before the movie and didnt have any plans of being a movie star. later on she got into a drug habit and went to jail etc. quite interesting lifestory....
@ifkgotet Yes, I'd read a bit about this- and her lack of formal training is a real asset, as she has spontaneity and no studied mannerisms. Her unravelling life afterwards is truly shocking.
@coralarch Have you seen En Kärlekshistoria by Roy Andersson? Its another great swedish film from the same era and its about youth, love, parenting and the differences in social classes in sweden 1970. I think you might like it if you are a fan of Elvira Madigan.
Thanks for uploading this magnificent film which should not be forgotten, like that other Bo Widerberg film The Ballad of Joe Hill which seems to be fully forgotten!
the swedish are so attractive!

I think if one lives in the Northern climate it's the best time to die in Summer, somewhere in the open and far from people, if possible...

@Mazurka1001 Or they could buy a ticket to a nice warm country like Hawaii :)

@ComradeDragon They could do that too...of course, before Hawaii goes down geologically and seismically. ;

@coralarch The Time of Bloom Now Comes
The time of bloom now comes
With great satisfaction and beauty
You are on your way, delightful summer
When grasses and crops are germinating
With your mild and lively heat
Coming to everything that has been dead
The sun’s beams are getting closer
And everything is reborn

@coralarch what do you mean with ironic? ironic towards the message of the movie?
ifkgotet 1 year ago
@ifkgotet Yes- the lyrics extol Spring and growth, but the lovers are dead, and not producing any young.
