the problem is that the fish could eat the webing on the turlte feet ,giving the turlte no way to swim and staying afloat and could drowned eventually,
my fucking tiny ass zebra cichlie killed both of my 8 inch oscars and he was half of a half their size straight out fucked them up they had no fins by the time i got home
cichlid of a great varieity can mix with yellow bellied turts and res, but beware that when hungry (and these animals should be kept hungry) the cichlid becomes food
what a moron the type of fishu have will bug the hell outta that turtle thats a no no remove it and put ina sept tank wow who does that crapa also if it bugs the turtle too much it may eat it and they carry thing the turtle cant eat bad if u want fish it minows or guppies for feeding either way not a good idea and the turtle u have has been known ot reach up to a foot in size meaning 10 gallons of water per inch of turtle so u do the math most are to live in ponds i have raised for 30 years
It is not a Toxin it is a Bacteria that produces a toxin. ALL Herps can carry it, no real threat unless you have small kids, an immune deficiency, or fail to keep up hygiene for you and your Herp.
I keep many Heprs and have never had Salmonella poisoning, it truly is a matter of knowing what you are dealing with.
I have 6 fish in with my Mississippi Map. Only a few pieces of scenery other than that its fair game. Its been over a year and everyone still gets along... for now
Haha, you wait. I was speaking to someone at my local pet store, and apparently he had his red ear with loads of fish for 2 years. Then he woke up one morning and the turtle ravaged the place =P. So be warned.
Firemouth cichlid. They flare their gills and try to bluff, but when you turn your back, wham, they strike. These fish have an amazing personality. Oh, and they are extremely fast. Just wait until that little guy gets two or three times the size he is now,
@jay942942 cichlids and turtles mix fine, the cichlics are capable of defending themselves against the turtles so the turtles leave them alone, but they cant actually hurt the turtles
Sorry fish lovers. Cichlids and turtles can coexist for years no problem. the aggressiveness, size, and hardiness of cichlids make them perfect tank mates.
the fish isn't actually attacking the turtle, it is most likely chewing off small bits of food or bacteria stuck to the turtle. this is actually good for the turtle because it keeps it healthy and hygienic =D
I had to take my cichlid out of the turtle tank just last week because he was doing the SAME THING to the turtle...hummm...I guess they just don't mix!
I've seen my smaller turtle eat a fish that size for dinner, if he really was ticked off, really getting annoyed, that fishes head would have been off in one bite.
Turtles are mad funny I swear. They be chasing their reflection thinking it's another turtle

Fish only have a three second memory span, so he won't remember what he did to anger the turtle before it rips him to bits.

it seems like the cichlid is picking the shedding skin off your RES which is pretty normal for fish and turtles

cichlids are always trying to pick fights. That one was lucky that your turtle didn't turn around and try to eat it 8D

cichlid is just cleaning his turtle companion, just make sure the turtle is well fed and your cichlid will come to no harm

if you under feed the turtle THEN itll resort to the cichlid other than that theyre peacful 2gether!!

Actually, the fish is attacking the turtle, or at least provoking it.
See how it's flaring it's red gills? That's what firemouths do when they are attacking something, not while eating :).
