  • ..... mother of god this seems like the best way to spend 170 dollars..... i now want one......

  • Chicken.. wing.. bah, either way nice gun! Love the laminated stock on your M44.

  • You're shooting carbine correct, with bayonet extended. When folded, point of aim is off. Flash likely due to slower burning powder with round for longer barrel such as for Dragunov or M91 long rifle or even the Tokarev. When shot in shorter barrel, flash occurs from unburnt charge. Laminated stock, nice carbine.

  • the m44 was used more in Vietnam than WW2, but the m44 was used late in second world war don't get me wrong. m91/30 was the main battle rifle for the Russians in ww2

  • you can pull a rifle tighter to your shoulder if your elbow is down. i dont know what the guy above me is talking about

  • I own a M91, one that the Russians sent to Remington and New England Westinghouse in 1916. My old man bought from someone for 90-some-odd dollars, with over 100 rounds included in the deal.

Sure, the ol' Westinghouse is beat to hell, but it still fires like...some old Russian's wet dream...and I digress. Now, does anyone know where I could find replacement bolt assembly; old man cut off the original bolt handle and welded on a new one when he tried to mount a scope on it...

  • Chicken Wing is actually the correct way to shot a rifle.

  • whats with the chicken wing?

  • im in ww2 now

  • that is a really nice looking m44, mine is beat to hell.

  • I didn't know you guys sold chicken wings.

  • That has to be a modified stock, they didn't produce these with laminated stocks, unless it was post-ware era and for civis. and quick quesiton, why are you holding your elbow so high!?

  • @NIGHTEHAWK Yes the Russians did build them with laminated stocks. Recommend you do some research. I have owned several M44's and M38's with laminated stocks.

  • By the way, that 'chicken wing" smelt will have more powerful than the M-44 to kill deers..kkkk

  • In Vietnam, that gun after first shot and we reload by HAMMER because sticky bolt.kkk How about you guys, gun lovers?? How do you fix it?

  • I think it's interesting how you can see the muzzle flash in some shots and not in others. Must be missing the framerate of the camera to capture it.

  • Nothing wrong with a "chicken wing" stance. Depends on the kind of shooting and personal preference. I'd consider myself a decently experienced shooter and for an offhand shot you bet I have a chicken wing going on. After heavy exertion it isolates the gun away from your heaving chest. (think biatholon or rundown during a service rifle match). Service rifle is my game and I shoot it competitivly.

  • I have a full-sized mosin-negant and I can put three rounds in an inch and a half at 100 yards(iron sights :) ! ). They really are good rifles for their age and cost. My only criticism is that their "safety" sucks donkey balls.

  • Great video. I have a couple in this model, also a couple of the Finnish issue, with the proof-targets still attached. To prove at the arsenal that they would shoot accurately.

  • Finger off that trigger till you are ready to shoot

  • shooting this gun is ear-splitting even in a wide open area, how have your eardrums not popped yet?

  • shooter's form is correct. Anyone who shoots competition, or military, or who wants to hit the target, will raise arm til parallel to grolund, as it forms a pocket in the shoulder area, keeping the weapon properly secured in shooting position, enhancing accuracy.

  • in only see one flash, strange

  • thats actually a beautiful stock

  • im getting a 1925 model that has the octagon shaped barrel its pretty nice and somewhat rare

  • Good posture, your left hand could be nearer the center but the spot weld is right on.

Your right arm is fine. Which military taught you to shoot?

  • Novice shooter or just a weird stance?

  • IT LOOKS FAKE

  • @suger561 ITS NOT

  • I had my m44 taken away, and am now getting an m91/30. Does anybody know the differences besides the barrel length it would help a lot.

  • @abcd1234781 Depends, first I must ask you, why was it taken away? On to answer to your question, With the M44's hinged bayonet, the 91/30 has a removable bayonet that locks around the barrel, with the 91/30 barrel length you'll have more accuracy out past 500 yards depending on bore condition. M91/30 production ended in 1945 were as M44 production started in late 1943 and ended in 1948. Look for a prewar dated 91/30 with a good to excellent bore.

  • @theotherhomer It was a gift but under another family members name, they wanted it back one day, so I was forced to give it back.

  • just got done shooting my m44 at the range today for the first time. also my first time shooting a rifle

  • is this the mosin nagant short version?

  • Chicken wing

  • thlap it

  • Technically the "chicken wing" is only incorrect in tactical shooting. For sport or target shooting, you want to pull the stock in as tight to the shoulder as possible, and since you can exert more force onto the rifle with your elbow out at an angle, the "chicken wing" actually aids shooting. The support arm, holding the foreend of the weapon, is the one that needs to be directly underneath the firearm to bear the weight and stabilize your aim.

  • @coryhouston1

Additionally, the right arm "chicken wing" does a few other good things too. The shoulder pocket increases in size considerably when your elbow is up. The stock is also raised up a little more, closer to your cheek, and your hand and arm is more correctly aligned with the trigger.

  • I have a 1943 Hungarian m44 and I've got to say that it is one of the most accurate iron sight rifles I've fired. It's a fun weapon and very inexpensive because of the amount of surplus. For the price, it's worth it to add to your collection. I would have it ultrasounded before shooting since many of them sold have been used.

  • lower your right elbow when you shoot

  • Holy shit that stock is hot.

  • How hard was it for you to find one? How much was it?

  • @mastercommentor You suck at spelling, learn to spell.

  • his stance SUCKS

  • I think this video is not real.

  • @sock56point why do you think that?

  • I just bought one! I'm really freakin excited to have a play around with it!

  • @akkadianarab

The mosins were typically sighted in with the bayonet extended/attached.

  • might i ask why is it that almost every mosin nagant m44 video has the bayonet extended. does it affect accuarcy?

  • nothing wrong with chicken wing. don't let the mall ninjas fool you. just be sure to tuck it in when you're being shot at.

  • Great Rifle I got one too. I shoot mine with my elbow to the ear too! My Dad (WW2 Vet) taught me to do that with his 30-40 Krag. !

  • TUCK IN THAT ELBOW!!!

  • mine was made in 1934 and has never been fired

  • Screw the fucking chicken wing, his form is all off! Get him on the other knee, left shoulder facing the target, right elbow should be behind the left, raise rifle sights to eye level with minimal head cocking, stock butt in pocket of shoulder, breathe gently and squeeze the trigger.

  • That is actually pretty close to the proper shooting position for those old WW2 rifles. Even the Garand was taught to be shot with the elbow level to the ear.

There are vintage training for this here on youtube.

Your elbow is a bit higher though probably due to the short stock that was meant to be used by a guy wearing a thick winter coat.

BTW I have an M44 and 91/30, great rifles and super addictive.

  • It's a version of the rifle for cavalry?

  • Yep, he used all his strength doing the chicken wing and doesn't have enough left to flip the bolt up

  • love the sound of the reload.

  • @IIISWIFTYIII you mean the rechambering

  • nice chicken wing...

  • where did you get the soft point rounds all they have where i live are fmjs

  • @pyroboys2 My rifle was made in 1945, it came from the factory looking like that. It's called a laminated stock. It's actually rare and desirable. Don't be a troglodyte.

  • @coupequattro that thing is pretty. it does however look a bit short.is it the carbine version? a short barrel, combined with a heavy caliber like the 7.62x54r, that thing has got to be LOUD! very nice rifle. and looks like you got the complete version, wtih a bayonet. nice catch!

  • @LukyRemington If it's the M44 it's the carbine. The full length is the 91/30. They're great rifles.

  • @coupequattro i want it

  • @coupequattro ahahhahaha, that made me smile.

  • @coupequattro not that rare i mean if i can find them in stock like every week at big 5 there not rare

  • @coupequattro i own and love a 1941 ... Do you have any info one some of the firarms made in that years?? for some Reason my mosin has a Really sweet Trigger pull at around 4 pounds .. I have shoot a friends mosin made in 42 and it has a 10 pound trigger on it .. And it seem like it was just crudely made..

  • @coupequattro ON not ONE !! my typeing is fail = ) same with spelling !! thanks for feed back

  • @pyroboys2 My rifle was made in 1945, it came from the factory looking like that. It's called a laminated stock. It's actually rare and desirable. Don't be a troglodyte.

  • @coupequattro is 99 dollars a good price for one? the guy has a laminated stock version but its 129 dollars and i dont have that much, and it was mad in 1943

  • @jcodym13 anything under 200$ is good for this rifle

  • @coupequattro........i got a battlefield pickup and a day later i was checking out the serial numbers and not only did it have a laminated stock, it was made by Tula, and it had all matching serial numbers of yk1556. It is a 91/30 model too. I picked it up at a local Dunham's store for 130 dollars. Which is kind of unbelievable, but apparently the guy that owned it before didn't know anything about it. The marking on it turned out that it was issued to the guards of the Tsar.

  • @coupequattro I just picked up an M44 just like yours with the laminated stock. Now I have the 91/30 and the m44 both russian, both with laminate stocks and both look like they are brand new I love these rifles.

  • @coupequattro desirable if you want it to look like a dump.

  • @coupequattro my hardwood 1945 is more rare because it was reworked in yugoslavia not being a dick just sayin

  • @coupequattro nice! i dont have a m44 i have a m38 with laminated stock :)

    l

  • @coupequattro Laminated stocks are not rare, they are more uncommon than hardwood but are by no means rare. Nice rifle though.

  • @pyroboys2 it has a more modern frame and the stock loks fine

  • @pyroboys2 dumbass

  • How is the recoil for a Mosin M90/30 compared to a Kar98k? I just got the Mosin and can't wait to shoot it!!!!!

  • @MrSniperGuy mosin probably has a little more recoil just because of how the bolt and the stocks design

  • does that one have a bayonet on it?????

  • To call your friend inexperience for using a "chicken wing" stance is just silly. Rifles of 19th century ergonomic where the barrel is above the line of the shoulder are meant to be shot in such a manner. Look at photographs or training footage of the era and they are all using such a stance. I could be just me, but I don't think you need to shoot a bolt action rifle with a tacticool dynamic magpul stance

  • @SpiroHrvoje1989 Because my rotator cuffs are so far gone that's the only way I can shoot with any degree of comfort. My boy's call me Fog-horn Leghorn.after the cartoon rooster.

  • @SpiroHrvoje1989 if its most comfortable for him then why are your criticising? Generally you shouldnt have your arm out but he looks like a big guy with longer arms so having your elbow tucked in may not be comfortable.

  • @baconator490 Excuse me, but maybe you should read what I wrote a little more carefully.

  • BUGAWK

  • lol when i first shot mine i rested my cheek bone on my thumb and gave my self a black eye

  • I love my mosin nagant. But you guys are getting worked up by a chicken wing. Just remember when you guys were learning/novice, besides he's pretty hot and distracted me from noticing it at first.

  • why does everyone with a mosin shoot with they bayonet on? lol

  • @Corpral1992 Because the Mosin Nagant rifles were intended to be fired with the bayonet attached or, in the case of the M44, extended.

  • He should bend the other knee, and use it to support the arm supporting the M44. More steady and accurate that way. At least I find it to be a fairly comfortable position. Shoot however you like as long as it's safe :P

  • Damn that dudes got quite the chicken wing on him.

  • nice finish

  • He should try the Czech ammo out... HUGE fireball! Love my Mosin! the stock finally stopped sweating cosmoline when I'd shoot it! Awesome rifle! I love letting people shoot it for the first time....they never expect how much recoil there is! My wife got a rude awakening and a sore shoulder! She did shoot 5 rounds! Then I let her shoot my Remington 870 with the deer barrel on it...with slugs. That's when she got pissed off at me!

  • He should try the Czech ammo out... HUGE fireball! Love my Mosin! the stock finally stopped sweating cosmoline when I'd shoot it! Awesome rifle! I love letting people shoot it for the first time....they never expect how much recoil there is!

  • if i was a rusian, ill kill a german with my rifle and take his, because the mosins bolt is shit. but i love my mosin to death.

  • NAGANTS FOR LIFE!!!! Long Live x54!!!!

  • @Hugh33h It certainly is lmao since 1891 isn't it?

  • That is a nice M44 I am looking to buy one where did you buy it?

  • whats the diffrence between a M44 and 91/30? anybody?

  • @xXdEaThSeQuEnCeXx M44 has a 20in barrel, the 91/30 has a 27in

  • @OhshitPositive cool thx

  • yeah cool

i have a mosin nagant of 1942 have the communist simbol and the communist star on the rifle

  • good stance and its pretty cool you can see the heat waves off your rifle i have two m9130s and one m44

  • The "Chicken wing" is actually OK, and more stable.

  • how are we supposed to see the fireballs when you zoom in to the bolt and not see the barrel. lol just saying

  • do i have a mosin nagant m44 that my great gramps snagged coming out of world war 2 he gave it to me and i love the rifle it even has talley marks on it for you that know what that means

  • damn that has a beautiful stock on it

  • Bring that chicken wing back KFC. (:

  • jesus thats a really nice stock you have for that rifle

  • In Soviet Russia, gun shoot you!!! Is that a bayonet?

  • My husband has this carbine and when he shoots it ,it sounds like a cannon! That,s what the other guy's said at the range(LOL)

  • I bet that kick hurts your shoulder a bit.

  • Chicken wing? That's proper posture.

  • @klesmer no it's not. why would you stick your arm out like that? it makes you a bigger target. not trying to sound like a tool or anything, but you want to keep everything tight and in.

  • @reallydumbhorse Dude, I was taught to shoot by a Marine drill instructor over 40yrs ago, that is military posture. Plus the elbow ain't near as big a target as your torso.

  • @klesmer ok... Dude. I spent two and a half YEARS (07-09) as a Marine small arms instructor at Camp Lejeune and at a few places in the DC area (I'll just let your imagination take you places here). Not to mention tours overseas. I don't care how small your elbow is, sticking extra crap out increases the chance of extra extremities getting hit (trust me... I know), hence increasing the chances of you becoming a less effective trigger puller when everyone else needs you to be.

  • @reallydumbhorse My how things change over the years. I guess if I am being shot at I will keep my elbow tucked for sure. The old bastard who taught me to shoot is probably rolling over in his grave.

  • @klesmer maybe they have changed some. i wasn't trying to be a jerk or anything by the way. if you search "usmc cqb instructors" or "us army cqb training" the first videos that come up have some good examples of steady compact shooting posture. i like the army also, they get it right as well, as shown in the army video i just recommended. happy shooting.

  • chicken wing. Put the stock in the meaty part of your shoulder. ya it'll hurt but it's worth it

  • Chickenwing is inexperienced? Thats standard U.S. Military training

  • jesus boy.. put your arm down

  • elbow to the sky

  • Comment removed

  • Teach your friend a shooting stance. Hahaha hes alright. With Mosin Nagants, it is really helpful to rest forward wood on something and then lean forward, one hand on the trigger and the other on the stock with you cheek against that hand.

  • Anyone care to tell me what the term "chicken-wing" means? Is it the way he holds his arms or something? 'Cause I don't really see him doing anything wrong... :?

  • I see you've got some mosin slap going on there, need to get the rest of the cosmolene out of the barrel. Use a drill and wire brush, just don't get into the rifling, worked great on mine, made the action much smoother. Almost needed to work the bolt with a mallet the first time I shot my mosin.

  • they kick like a mule with 205 grains

  • @WVliberty there the rifle of the prolatariat

  • What the HELL is a chicken wing? I been shooting for 38 years, I DO not hold my arm up like that, is that a chicken wing?

  • are the 203 grain good in the mosins???

  • i hav a mosin nagant carbine but its not as short as this gun, are there different sizes of carbines?

  • @Woozle401 Maybe you have a M1891/30 with a 27 inch barrel. Mine is a M44 with a 20 inch barrel. The bayonet is extended in my video. The only other carbine Mosin is the M38 which is the same as the M44 except without the integral bayonet.

  • you forgot the 91/59 witch is a 91/30 cut down

  • @coupequattro

M-44...Did you guy have STICKING BOLT when the rifle get hotter? or after 200 rounds?

-In this case, go home and cook HOT water and clear the bolt and barrel first before Oil and cleaning stuff, LAST I lubricated bolt area with AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DEXTRON ii WORK EXCELLENT!!! so the SKS and AK-47 (NOT AMERICAN GUNS!)

  • You have a 91/30 this is the m44 vrs. there isnt a big differnce ony the size and the m44 has the baynett right on it and (like a sks) the 91/30s baynett was used like a screwdriver and to impale people but thats about it same round size and all

  • @b52goats kk That screwdriver bayoneta can go thru 2 NAZI boys..not kidding!

  • m44 is short barrel version of the m91/30.

They were made shorter for more practical use and easier manueverability. The barrel is just shorter, the bolt and bore and everything is the same

  • @Woozle401 Yes the M44 is that short! and it..pardon the pun is a blast to shoot. The 7.62x54r is a hell of a cartridge. They sent a lot of Nazis to hell with all variants of the Russian "Three Line"!

  • @Woozle401 P.S The M44 is designed to be fired with bayonet extended. Folding it makes it easier to stow.

  • @Woozle401

Your rifle is better, I mean less kick and accuracy is a plus!

M-44 is the short version, easy to put in the back of pick up truck for deers ....

I had 1 and very accuracy with bayonet out, I hear M-44 in order to shoot good must used bayonet in prepare to kill position! (sorry bad English, but understandable)? $69.00 at BIG 5 Phoenix,AZ on sale now and then!

  • I know the differnce now people thanks any way :P in fact i own a 91/30 now to

  • @b52goats no problemo

  • can some one tell me the diff. between a m 44 and a 91/30?

  • @b52goats from wat I have heard/read the 91/30 was designed in 1891 and the m44 in 1944...other than that i dont know but i think the 91/30 is longer lol.

  • thanks do you think 119 for the 91/30 would be good?

  • @b52goats u mean the price? then yea if its in good condition sounds like a good deal to me.

  • sweet thanks agin :D

  • 91/30 has a longer barrel the m44 is a carbine so it has a shorter barrel

  • m44 is the short version of the 91/30

  • 91/30 are the 1891 model of Mosin Nagants. They have a long barrel. M44 is the Model 1944 Carbine version of a Mosin Nagant.

    91/30 long barrel Better accuracy.

    M44 Shorter barrel.

  • Very nice video! Loved seeing the muzzle flash on the second to last shot.

  • Get that elbow down!

  • Nope elbow up makes the cup...it's a battle rifle from WW2, not an AR!

  • awesome video

buy it does no justice to how loud those things really are! :P

    once again, awesome vid

  • correct me if wrong but this gun has a very small barrel so that must mean that the gun doesn't have that much accuracy as a mosin nagant m91/30 since the gun has huge barrel?

your dead wrong.i have a m44 that if you leave the bayonet out it is a tack driver.i put a scout scope on it and can get moa accuracy.i have been shooting nagants for 30 years now and eaither the 38/44/91-30 all have dam good accuracy.the 44/38 were carbines. good accuracy out to 400 or so

  • The M44 carbine has a 20" barrel. The M1891/30 has a 27" barrel. Neither of those are short barrels by .30 cal rifle standards.

  • m1 carbine has an 18" barrel, m44 is close, but 2" in the carbine world may as well be a mile

  • @coupequattro Makes sense, the original model bolt action rifles a lot of countries were using at the same were designed for volley fire at targets over 600 meters away. Nobody really grasped until during the First World War that repeating rifles and machine guns had made Infantry Line tactics obsolete. Even then, a lot of old design cliches continued in late bolt action designs.

  • @CaptHawkeye Yep, gotta remember the infantry officers of WW-I were products of the mid 19th century!

  • @highcountry74 yea right, the bayonet makes the rifle shoot better, that is a good one.

  • @highcountry74 Barrel length doesn't decrease or increase accuracy.

  • @highcountry74 I have had the privilige of shooting the raw power of the M91/30 however I made a bone headed move back 4-5 months ago and i sold it, I was getting tired of cleaning it. Anyway my rationale tells me to get a yugo 24/47 which is only a bit more expensive, can get one for about 170-180 in VG condition + 10 handselect. Should I go back to a Mosin, or get me a Yugo? I have an unissued checz VZ-24, perfect bore and crown, wood work is A++ but that piece is to nice to fire it, opinion?

  • @SSSDiaz7 between the 2 i have had some yugos that would shoot circles around any mosin nagant.the guns are better made and you cant go wrong with 8mm .the ammo may be a bit more expensive than the 7.62x54r.i would also not shoot the vz-24 to have one in that good of shape is a rarity most are shot out mismatched shooter grades.i would pick up a 24/47 over a mosin anyday. usaully you can get some that look unissued.i have 2 that look brand new and didnt even have hand pick.go with yugo mauser

  • @highcountry74

You're right about the bayonet. Unlike most rifles, the Nagants are sighted in the factory with the bayonet attatched, because the Soviet infantry doctrine of the time was to always have your bayonet fixed. Hence you'll get more accuracy firing with the bayonet than without it.

  • @highcountry74

WRONG! not small barrel, SKS,AK-47 or even small anti-aircraft ALL Russian guns made the wall thickness are VERY THIN but THEY WORKED!

-Just short version to use easy at Stalingrad battle field....even M-44 you can chase deers, water buffalo, hippo and up to elephants! 7.62x54R rounds no kidding..This caliber can shoot thru M-113 (American light tanks) even helicopter fly low too (VIETNAM) NO JAMS ..NO WHATSOEVER!

  • correct me if wrong but this gun has a very small barrel so that must mean that the gun doesn't have that much accuracy as a mosin nagant m91/30 since the gun has huge barrel?
