The point is, the heat that gathers melts the ice caps, this absorbs heat and you get cold weather and floods.

I think the law suits against the Red Cross because of blood transfusions with HIV contaminated blood are okay. The suing of the doctor is, too. He won the trial but the 6.5 million verdict is of course questionable and was therefore reduced. I don't know the case in detail but Wikipedia says that "Winning this case established the North Carolina precedent of physician and hospital liability for failing to determine if the patient understood the risks of a particular procedure" Sounds alright.

I like the idea of using Ethanol as an alternative fuel. What nobody wants to point out is Ethonal comes from food products. What happens when we use more corn, wheat, and Sugar cain for fuel than for food? The price of food goes up.
why do you think it is a temp transitional fuel? couldn't it be a 'consumer choice' alternative fuel? like maybe based on regional consumption. Iowa for instance. ethanol can also be made from the corn stalks that are left lying in the field. I had a friend 30 years ago that made 'gasahol' and it was used by local farmers to run their farm equipment. very efficient, not to mention cheap.

Whether or not global warming is an imminent danger, why not reduce emission (all air pollution for that matter) simply so that we can breath better? I always thought breathing was rather important. Man-made has a hand in it, but man-influenced would be a more accurate term. What no is mentioning is that deforestation and similar processes where CO2 is actually used and converted into O2. There is a little bit more to the problem than simply CO2 emissions. I just find it sad that we limited our understanding of the situation strictly to fossil fuels.

The point is, the heat that gathers melts the ice caps, this absorbs heat and you get cold weather and floods.
Most warm weather in the non tropical parts of the world is provided by currents like the gulf stream, which will be gone when the caps melt.
So in general, for Europe and N.America, it gets colder, but the globe warms, as is evidenced by the north pole being circumnavigable for the first time in human history.

I think the law suits against the Red Cross because of blood transfusions with HIV contaminated blood are okay. The suing of the doctor is, too. He won the trial but the 6.5 million verdict is of course questionable and was therefore reduced. I don't know the case in detail but Wikipedia says that "Winning this case established the North Carolina precedent of physician and hospital liability for failing to determine if the patient understood the risks of a particular procedure" Sounds alright.

You are right, you dont have to like greedy or unethical people. But what I am saying is that JOHN EDWARDS is not one of "those lawyers"! Like I said in my first post, GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT! He hasnt made his money suing honest doctors or exploiting anything. Hey HERB, give me a specific example of Edwards "exploiting the court system", or an example of an "honest doctor" that he sued, or a "hospital" or "clinic" that he put out of business. If you cant, then shut your trap.

He did make his money suing corporations on behalf of the individuals who were hurt by the corporations lack of attention/concern for the welfare of those injured individuals. Edwards may be the VP for Obama, so you may have to deal with him for a while.
Also, what's wrong with having a succussful business man and lawyer in the white house? Didnt we learn our lesson with Bush?

I did, but my second post seems to have gotten lost. He is a sleazy trial lawyer: check his Wikipedia article. He sued the American Red Cross - a medical charity, not a corporation - three times. In 1985, he won a $6.5 million verdict against a doctor (which an appeal court later ruled was grossly excessive and unsupported by the evidence).

Wikipedia is not credible in itself, but where the information is backed up with reliable sources (as it is on the John Edwards article) it is credible.
And I'm not saying anything about the value of someone's life or who their lover is. John Edwards isn't gay and I wasn't calling him a faggot. I have a problem with him because he is a sleazy ambulance chaser who made a living suing honest doctors, and because his liberal views are insane.

Heres the thing, its neat so pay attention. Oil and natural gas reserves (which are the compacted boilled and mashed fossils of thousands of years) take a long time create. Corn can be grown in a season. Again and again and again. :)

I like the idea of using Ethanol as an alternative fuel. What nobody wants to point out is Ethonal comes from food products. What happens when we use more corn, wheat, and Sugar cain for fuel than for food? The price of food goes up.

why do you think it is a temp transitional fuel? couldn't it be a 'consumer choice' alternative fuel? like maybe based on regional consumption. Iowa for instance. Maybe a farm chooses to use/make ethanol for all of it's equipment, it would only make sense to also use it in their cars. what about also heating their homes or farm buildings? there could be endless uses when we actually get into it.

to bad not everyone can farm corn. currently there simply is not enough crop in the united states to create enough ethanol to ween America off oil as proposed. We should instead be talking about electric, hydrogen, and I know im gonna get a lot of flack for this, but we really need to reconsider nuclear energy (it has come a long way). I was disappointed Edwards did not mention any of these and am hoping more candidates will speak on these options

ethanol can also be made from the corn stalks that are left lying in the field. I had a friend 30 years ago that made 'gasahol' and it was used by local farmers to run their farm equipment. very efficient, not to mention cheap.

Oil WILL run out eventually, and quicker than you think. Are you saying we shouldn't even TRY to change over to another source? Number one, we would be self-sufficient and not rely on the middle east or anywhere else for fuel. That in itself is TOTALLY worth it. Whether or not global warming is an imminent danger, why not reduce emission (all air pollution for that matter) simply so that we can breath better? I always thought breathing was rather important. More people nowadays get asthma & have respiratory problems. Also, air pollution smells bad. What I mean to say is that it doesn't have to be an apocalyptic divisive issue to move people. Simply making things better for us and the environment should be enough.

Accidents do happen. Last year, planned parenthood received a little over $300,000,000 in taxpayer funding and netted a profit of $55,000,000. Abortions are big business. I would support ending the tax payer funding of planned parenthood to support babies that have been rescued from abortion and are allowed to enjoy freedom as you and I know it today.

Planned Parenthood doesn't perform abortions. Only doctors do. I believe they are an educational operation, and they probably pay for themselves in reducing welfare babies. In my city, we have plenty of traffic and crowds here - we don't need more people just for take of having more.
