Wow Harper, you really know how manage Canada. Lowering the gst was an amazing way for us to save money! So everyone thought. You lowered the gst, and all the stores from the smallest strip mall to transnationals like walmart RAISED THEIR PRICES! So the money we "save" now goes to stores. The outcome? The consumers save no money, the Government loses money and stores take in more money. If you wanted us to save, you should have lowed the income tax. Like said by jackiechan, 5% is your approval.
