  • Meh. Let these morons dig their own grave for as long as possible. These guys, like more conservatives, actually have no idea how to manage an economy. The Liberals will be back to fix their mess eventually and what's left of the Conservatives will be off in the corner just like last time.

  • Wow Harper, you really know how manage Canada. Lowering the gst was an amazing way for us to save money! So everyone thought. You lowered the gst, and all the stores from the smallest strip mall to transnationals like walmart RAISED THEIR PRICES! So the money we "save" now goes to stores. The outcome? The consumers save no money, the Government loses money and stores take in more money. If you wanted us to save, you should have lowed the income tax. Like said by jackiechan, 5% is your approval.

  • northlea public school is my school :)

  • This photo op by Harper is just him posting his approval rating.

  • what do you want; higher taxes? i like this guy because he allows me to spend more of MY money! fiscal responsibility and tax relief is the best for Canadians.

  • Conservatives, Conservatives

    What does cutting taxes do?

Who does it help besides rich CEO's and presidents of small buisness owners?

If conservatives thought about others Canada would be a better place.

    Stephan Dion for prime minister!

  • Stephan Who???

  • There have been broken promises on both sides and you fail to mention, or even be bold enough to admit, any failures the Liberals have created since their laborious term in office.

  • Moral to the story - there's very little difference between the Liberals and the Conservatives. The only exception is one side believes in high taxation in support for boondoggle social programs (which is really an expansion of government intervention) while the other believes in reducing taxes, government, and spending.

  • Cutting the Gst by 1% was worse than merely useless as BC just raised taxes 5%. So we went 1% back on GST and 5% forward on PST to make up for the shortfall from the FEDS. That's what I call worse than merely useless.

That's what I call worse than merely useless Harper accomplished zilch, except keep his promise on one side of his mouth knowing that cutback to the Provinces would cause the Provinces to make up for the cutback by increasing PST thereby placing the tax blame on others.

  • um... this man is an idiot. cutting taxes will not help anything

  • No but it makes people think things are getting better and they do for a short period of time.

  • SAVINGS,SAVINGS<SAVINGS, all off set by tax gained on the energy we buy. What happened to your promise to drop the GST when gas went over 85 cents a liter Mr. Harper? ooops!

  • What happened when the Liberals said they were going to cut the GST completely and then went back on their word and raised it? Does 1993 ring any bells?

  • May 17/04.....

Ding Dong!- it ain't Avon baby!...

Conservative Leader Stephen Harper promised he would provide relief for motorists by eliminating the GST on gas costing more than 85 cents a litre.

"These are revenues that no one foresaw even a few months ago. We are only depriving Ottawa of a massive windfall it didn't count on and that it doesn't need," Harper said,
