  • Can you replace all the rappers please?!?! when you called america on its continued puritanical sexist bullshit i had to change my pants.

  • >Record executive says the song is terrible, then says the industry shouldn't exploit her TALENT.

    lolwut

  • I love (by which I mean, hate) the sexist double standard that so many people seem to be comfortable with: condemning women who sell their bodies for money like they're selling them to a bunch of helpless, vulnerable, sex-starved men who can't control themselves. Those poor men!!

Have I mentioned how amazing I think you are for calling out bullshit hypocrisy in such an elegant, concise, lyrical and thoughtful manner? Because if I haven't, kudos to you, sir!

  • Shallow comment but I'm so jealous of your cat right now, hahaha.

  • Comment removed

  • industry rule number 4080 haha illdoctrine, you're the truth. keep doin your thing man.

  • Yeah, you's the dude Illdoc.

And yo cat is so gonna get stole by ME!

  • u know whats funnny its 2010 record companys are sweatin bullets everyday about how to make money and artist still say with a straight face im working on a ALBUM

  • "industry rule # 4080 record company people are shadyyyyyyyyyyy"

  • @novembrrain my mind automatically completed this one too. crazy.

  • lol "thats totally beneath you" *stares at girls dancing*. XD

  • I think there's a subconscious connection felt by whites (who own these labels, who operate news stations, and who, frankly, generate profit bearing ratings to various media outlets) to Ms. Dupree's situation thinking, "she doesn't deserve this, only colored people are to be exploited because they bring it on themselves." Sort of like when a white college girl goes missing. Remember the black honor roll student who died sometime ago? Neither do I or anyone else. Just another Negro...no worries.

  • he QUOTED CHECK THE RHIME BY A TRIBE CALLED QUEST.....i'm subscribing

  • I just found your vids and love your point of view and the way you express yourself...but your cat was what drove me to comment...she is made of awesome...as are you! But seriously that cat is too cute. You manage to make me think a lot harder and feel a whole lot more inspired after 2 minutes...plus you have a cute cat

  • Solid point.

  • *whistles* nice one baby! You make a fantastic, clear and revelent point! I love you? lol

  • This girl was a confused child and a prostitute for the entirety of her life. The only time she ever mentioned music was when she became spitzers prostitute. Come on! The public can't be that stupid. She is NOT an artist. Seriously She makes britney spears, and lindsay lohan look like alicia keys or something. "ashlees" music sucks. The music industry will chew her up and spit her out after she's lead on a long winding road to mount nowhere.

  • you are wrong.

  • wow what a solid arguement you made lol

  • I never insulted you, but you just insulted me lol. If were talking about grammar you never capitalized any of your new sentences. Also thanks for completely avoiding writing atleast ONE thing that was on topic of the video why you disagreed.

  • im subscribing!

  • Wow, your videos are very well edited.

  • industry rule number 4080... record company ppl r SHADY!!!

  • CHECK THE RHIME!!! ATCQ! KUDOS!

  • why the fuck are you not world famous?? I mean if i look at all the talentless pretty faces that the current music labels are spitting out day by day, i would consider it a nice change of pace to see someone like you on television, (no offense im not saying because u have talent ure ugly...should i say nohomo now?..^^) but neways keep bringing out new vidz cuz i like ure way of looking at things, critical but tolerant...peace

  • you on point fife

  • Industry Rule #4080.......ALL THESE RECORD PEOPLE ARE SHADYYYYY____

  • I think you have the best vblogging on youtube so far

  • love your cat!

  • hey, if i had some big tits and a crappy voice and got my chance to sing my lame music or other peoples lame music for a few dollars, i would accept that extended offer... and if i got the fame that came with that all mighty dollar and lame music, then fuck yeah! what people should really be pissy about are all those fuckin' television shows like 'american idol' that trap the common people in time and shake the same voice over and over for eternity. losers.

  • Record company people are shadyyyyyyyy, so kid whatcha back, 'cause i think they smoke crack, i don't doubt it, look at how they act.

  • industry rule number 4,080...

    record company people are shadyyyyyyy

  • You are BRILLIANT!!!

(and I don't use that term often)

    -TonyaTko

  • Why does this comment get so many thumbs-down when he is being real as can be!

    Thumbs-UP!

  • There are plenty of people in showbiz that have a less than squeaky clean past and still others that slept with the right people to get where they are. This is is the same business that is happy to condemn her for "gasp* getting paid for sex but didnt have a problem with Snoop Dogg releasing hardcore porn DVDs with musicial tie-ins in a deal with Hustler. Industry Rule 4,080 indeed...

  • I love Jay Smooth's honesty. So what she was a call girl and got paid to have sex. I like her voice and I would buy album...

  • There are 2 things involved. Sales, the record labels see that she sold many in the begining but it died down because she isnt any good. People were just curious and then they got tired of her. They are looking to sell millions not hundred thousands. Marketability, well they cant market her because she already marketed herself. Not as a singer but a call girl. She chose her path and she wont escape that stigma. She will always be considered as that call girl. Ashley did it to herself.

  • And those goes TRIPLE for some of you bitches who bitch like the ones you are about hip-hop yet watch "The Sopranos" and glorify nasty, white, crackhead skanks. Funny how NOBODY has a problem with Hollywood movies that constantly show brutality and violence against women and GLORIFY criminal lifestyles ala mob movies. But oh NOW let's all have 'standards' what a bunch of BULLSHIT!!

  • Oh, god, I accidentally gave this idiot remark a thumb's up. Lady, I have no idea what your problem with Jay Smooth stems from, but that loud whooshing noise you're hearing is the point sailing over your head.

  • but it spoke truth...you can't get the 1:57 back so whine on ...

  • why the cat?

  • Because the cat is awesome and licks his head. That's one of my favorite parts. Adds levity.

  • I loved the cat!! and nearly every thing else you said.

  • You nailed it just like Spitzer nailed Ashley Dupre.

Never gonna understand it: why violence = good, but sex = bad ?

  • Industry rule number 4080, record company people are shadddddddddddddddy!

    Cool video

  • ill go as far as saying 50 or any other 'rapper' is more talented that Ashley Dupree.

  • Now selling Girls Gone Wild tapes to a bunch of prevs with this girl staring in it.. Now that's a "hit". This girl won't sell any more music after this week..

Joe Francis of Girls Gone Wild will make lots of money.. Too bad for the prositute..

Good call by the record Companies, now if they can only stop promoting thugs this world might have a chance.

  • Totally the best part of that apart from the awesome truth that was said was cat licking head. Yes, you love it.

  • Our laws and those who enforce our laws are chosen to preserve society within a given space and time, whether we believe in them or not. Both Washington and Jefferson had slaves, even though they embraced a document that spoke of people being created equal. At least we can see some improvement. Even the oldest profession has made a few strides. One exceptionally attractive young woman may have opened some doors, even though she was not pleased with the way she did it. Thanks for this video.

  • I respect your opinions. I disagree with some of your sentiment. I like ya so I'm keep on responding back. If I didn't I wouldn't comment.

I know those guys from philly that produced this track. They're from my stomping ground.

If what she did wasn't wrong, we need to change the laws.

  • ok, sorry hard to interpret how people are coming at you sometimes, on the internets :)

  • this. is. brilliant.

It's nice to see an inside voice be incisive about the hypocrisy...word.

  • It's a shame this video only has 4 thousand views..

You are spot on with your opinion, I agree completely.

  • Two wrongs don't make a right..I'm just saying.. Not judging..

  • I don't think Ashley Dupre (or a former crack dealer) getting time in the spotlight is inherently wrong.. it all depends what they do with that time in the spotlight once they get it.. the problem with the rappers in question is that they too often use their music to glorify what the used to do, but there's nothing wrong with being an ex-hustler in and of itself (remember malcolm x was one)

  • We shouldn't glorify people that commit crimes. We are shooting ourselves in the foot. What she did was wrong(against the law), as is selling crack.

The rules are for everyone. Next thing is we'll be giving book deals to ax murderers..

Don't you have a soul man? Greed isn't everything..

  • "Don't you have a soul man? Greed isn't everything"

Umm, I respect your difference of opinion but I don't think this vitriol is warranted.

"Wrong" and "against the law" are hardly synonymous, but regardless of the (debatable) ethics of her particular crime, just because someone remains in the public eye after they commit a crime doesn't mean the crime is being glorified, it all depends on what you do with the spotlight once you have it.

  • The only reason why some are interested is because people want to see who this prostitute that have sex with the govern, not because they think she's talented. What she gonna to do for an encore, have sex with the pope.lol. this is pretty shallow stuff.

With that being said you did a outstanding job with the Snoop mix.

  • umm are you high? Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani, Spice Girls, Pussycat Dolls, every blonde wannabe in hot pants and a bra rolling around on the floor writhing. Women are objects in the music industry.

  • I think he more talking about how they got there. Britney Spears, Gwen, and all the other artists you brought up were not call girls before they got a record deal.

    Maybe after... but not before.

  • well said indeed

  • Get em Jay!!!

  • Well said.

  • Wise words from Jay Smooth and indirectly, Kamaal the Abstract.

  • Wise words from Jay Smooth and indirectly, Kamaal the Abstract.

  • Jay....brilliant as usual.

  • well done again!! and i love you and ur cat!! soo adorable!

  • *your

  • record company people are shaaaaady!

  • This is why you have to keep Checking the Rhime. To understand the truth of things.

  • Well said, I wish YOU were Obama's pastor

  • Hit Em in tha head AGAIN, Jay! :D

    on-point, as usual! :D

  • welllllll said my man

  • ***** Good one!

  • You would think, based on the "sex sells" (read: sex=the female body) mantra that they butter their bread with, she'd be exactly what they're looking for.

However, since she's been a prostitute they can't try the "oh she's sexy, but virginal" bullshit they like the make women straddle.

  • like TO make*

and when I say "they" I mean the larger culture as whole, of which, the music industry is a part of

  • It's also got to do with a blatant hatred for women. If some guy was getting paid for fucking women, anyone who questioned him would instantly be deemed a hater and jealous, but if a woman does the same thing...

  • yep

  • I think the problem is that the old sexism hasn't really changed. Taking a page from Ariel Levy that since women can be chauvinistic now it's considered acceptable or even condoned when men do it to women since women supposedly have the power now. So you're called a hater when you go against the what is considered a social norm. Really besides actually getting paid for sex what is the difference between this girl and Fergie or Paris Hilton besides the legality?

  • True. But, Paris copped a lot of shit too.

  • what about Kim K? True she has her own clothing store or whatever, but the only reason she really got the hype was due to that sex tape...ironically more attention given to Paris because of that. The only thing that is different between those two and Ashley is that they were born into wealthy families and have parents that are known where Ashley was a nobody untill this whole issue came to fruition.

  • I think I find the problem is that in the Media today the only women you hear about are ones that usually exhibit a scandalous behavior of some sort. It's been said Brittany Spears is her own economy because of her behavior. The same can be said of Lindsey Lohan to a degree. You don't hear anything about intelligent women who are out in the world making a difference. In sense the Media and the Entertainment industry sends the message a woman's worth is is summed up totally in her looks.

  • its like the media has made it popular to be attracted to the downfall of people who already are successful. isnt the entertainer's job to take us out of our own problems and shortcommings in our life with their works, or has it gotten to where we have to see this as the new norm now?

  • I think it's the car crash mentality. You are driving along and people slow to see the wreck, not wishing people were injured or killed, but at the same time hoping to see it. The problem lies in the fact that celebrities for whatever reason are the new Temple Priests. They are there to distract from the real issues. That's why the Major news networks run those stories. They offer little substance, but the masses tune in to watch. In a sense News has become Entertainment.

  • Props for the Ariel Levy reference!!

  • Thanks Roxie 21. Ariel Levy is a good writer, and has some really good arguments. Well thought out.

  • Industry Rule 4080 is the truth.

  • She'll make her mark for a minute.

  • Wow... Man. The hypocrisy shouldn't surprise me anymore, but yeah. I know she'll get a record deal somewhere. If Paris Hilton can get a record deal this girl will. I mean yeah she's a call girl, and had an affair with a govennor, but come on. Moncia put out a line of handbags didn't she? I mean what state would our culture be in if some business entity didn't capitlize on this? Moral corporations?!? That's world I can't live in! I would have no one to be outraged against!
