It was the best analysis I could come up with atm. There are many ways to interpret this sequence, but this analysis I presented was a means of shining a sympathetic and honest light on one of the most notorious villains in American film history.

If I can interpret this scene in a nutshell, Nurse Ratched's coldness reaches an apex to the point where when degrading Billy, her coldness engulfs her entirely and her humanity has completely shattered. Note how she shows no sense of emotion and remorse towards Billy's suicide? Her reaction and complete and utter sense of full-blown coldness towards Billy's death triggers McMurphy to attack and nearly choke Ratched to death. In the end, Ratched's defeat signals the recovery of her humanity.

Billy's character is great. He doesn't stutter when she asks are you ashamed. But he stutters when she brings up his mom. Throughout the movie, you could tell that he was a little bit more crazy then everyone else. Just because of the way he acted when Ratchet brought up his mom. Sad what happened to him...

Words can't express how good this file is. The performances by all actors is flawless. The emotions it touches is unlike any other film I have ever seen. I have watched the film countless times, and even now watching this clip it makes me angry. I think this is the only film I have ever watched where I actually cried out aloud - "KILL HER!". The movie doesn't convey it like the book, but McMurphy damaged her vocal chords so badly when he strangled her she never had the same voice. It was hoarse and difficult to hear and understand. As such her power was broken so even if she remained there another 10 or 20 years her authority over the patients was broken. Can't think of a better hell than to be irrelevant to the people she once tormented.
