  • the last bars at the end are from "four" amiright?

  • @guysmarsh right !

  • @guysmarsh Both songs have a similar tag at the end, although i don't know whether they are necessarily related.

  • By far the best version I have ever heard. Have to love 5:19

  • @Leedysgladstones 5:34's not bad either. =P

  • His political opinions doesn't matter here, what is important is the great performance, the great musician he is

  • What year is this?

  • Dude, Arturo is badass. His accent is cool too. With his mustache I almost expected him to say "It's a me, Arturo!"

  • A Jazz Player is born not made!!!! We can study Jazz for many reasons, to understand it or perhaps to Master it as a musician as well as to listen it for pure enjoyment...CJC

  • Groso. Que lastima que sea tan gusano.

  • @rodrigogdea oye come pinga sigue mamadosela a fidel pedazo de come pinga. te tiene pasando ambre y necesidad y todavia sigues en esa mierda comunista? estupido despierta.

  • o arturo eo melhor trompetista do mundo

  • esse eo cara

  • Absolutely amazing! He is my favorite trumpet player of all time. I sure wish I had stuck with trumpet...

  • The professor in question got his 802 card by blowing Bill Chase......I hope the car that Stretch is thinking about is arturo's 1959 Edsel.......

  • he is a jazz player.

  • TODOS A BAILAR

  • A so-called trumpet professor at Georgia State university said that Arturo couldn't play. That cat isn't fit to chew Arturo's dingleberries.....

  • @terrryc That's funny.....maybe this particular professor can drive Arturo's car around for him......

  • any idea what year this is from?

  • Listen here........this rhythm section is HANDLING BUSINESS!

  • he's quoting "four" at the end?

  • jerec... yeah... dont talk about the man, what u talkin about that he cant play salsa???

  • keep it pretty ... love you Arturo!

  • I hate when that happens to me.. =\ lol at 5:30 when I'm playing high some times I loose concentration of my air and I get that slur mistake lol.

  • I want everyone whom speaks il of Arturo to go and listen to all of his albums, then make a Judgement, or see him Live.

If you go and see him Live a word of advice, bring your Ear Plugs, he likes it Loud!

I started listening to him in the Mid 90's and from that first album I bought "' I remember Clifford(Brown)" I was hooked.

I'm not a trumpet player (sax's and clarinet), but boy o boy he has got the skill that no ordinary human could ever hope to have.

    Bravo Arturo!

  • what makes miles and dizzy so legendary is that they brought something that was never seen before to playing trumpet. arturo is a fantastic player just continuing their legend. and he does mess up near the end but still an amazing performance for a musician who has come a long way

  • Arturo actually screwed up! He is human!

  • @enward327 wait i missed that when did it happen?

  • @EmperorAckbar at 5:30 it's all sloppy, you can see his eyebrows go up

  • @enward327 his eyes went up because his eyes opened.... lol

  • i do respect all that miles and dizzy have done for jazz and the trumpet but when it comes down to it he is a better player then both of them

  • hummmm "surpassed miles davis and dizzy gillespie"............. i dont think so

  • Thats all opinionated when it comes to music man. But he is a freak at trumpet player like how those two werent, that you ahve to give him.

  • Umm, I'm sorry, and I quote @0:11 "Sandoval's music transcends every border, and he SUCCEEDS Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie..."

  • watev.... SAME THING

  • u gotta read between the lines...that remark was for TV.

  • Succeeds =/= Surpassed

  • cleaner though.

  • ouaiiiiis mooooe terrible. Par contre faudrait travailler ton aigu ! ;-)

  • I love arturo's personality in this vid. if you wanna learn trumpet, take a look at my site allabouttrumpet [ . ] yolasite [ . ] com

  • Arturo is awesome!!! I had the chance to meet him a few years back after a concert. If you have never seen the movie about his life, watch For The Love Of Country, it's great!

  • Very good trumpet player, but his sound and style are a bit too brilliant for my taste.

  • -Succeeds- souded funny for me, i don't speak english perfectly but it's just not correct. unless that guy meant to say something else.

Gracias, buen chiste

  • No, that's not Horacio Hernandez on drums, but this guy is great.

  • That first lick at 3:30 is just awesome!!!

  • horacio hernandez on drumss??

  • @turulli ERES UN VERDADERO ESTUPIDO... ESO ES TODO!!! DIOS TE PERDONE POR REFERIRTE DE ESA FORMA A UNO DE LOS MUSICOS MAS VIRTUOSOS DEL PLANETA Y DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS

  • Mira, chuckperuzzi.

  • @turulli PUES SERA LO QUE SEA...

  • deffinitely one of the craziest trumpet players ever to live.

  • i like this, but i prefer the softer sound of the trumpet more than the flamey sound of the salsa trumpet.

  • he isnt a salsa player.

  • you're right... he is a trumpet player. plays all kinds of styles.

  • @jerec576 He plays salsa, not very well, but he plays it

  • @jerec576 he plays all styles but jazz and latin jazz are his main ones i was blessed to be cliniced by him he has very inspirational suggestions!

  • @jerec576 No such thing as a "Salsa Player"

  • Awesome!

  • Viva la Bebop...!... :)

  • chupala arturo... viva cuba

  • Exceeds? hmmmm

  • lol I had the exact same reaction when I heard that... Not knockin Mr. Sandoval AT ALL, but I thought that was a bit of a bold statement.

  • "Succeeds"

  • Anybody know what year this is?

  • It looks to be mid-90s, if I had to guess based on the cut of their jib and the fit of their suits.

The end of the video has an overlay that reads "Monday Jan. 2". There was a Monday, January 2 in 1989 and 1995. I'd guess it's the latter.

  • it is schilke x3 years )

  • LOL

  • Arturo's intent is not to play high, but to play well. I'd rather listen to any trumpeter who plays well, then some guy who screeches and shrieks.

  • and he can play high very well.

  • groovin' high

  • i love arturo when hes all over the horn, not just playing high.

  • seriously

  • if he plays any higher he is going to fall backwards lol.

  • i saw him play last night in wesley chapel, fl he is amazing, it's even better when you see him live, he's also really funny

  • lmaooo hes palying two parts at 1 time...damn hes amazing

  • post a vid

  • Does "I envy you so much right now" mean an insult in a different language or something?

  • Ummm... why did I get a thumbs down?

  • You play as high as he does? Your horn sounds much better when blown by someone else. I'm sure you'll meet him again-probably at the same place where you play as high as he does-in your dreams!

    Arturo, tu tocayo

  • he's damn good

  • I met him too, about a year ago in Napa, CA. It was an awesome show and my mom set me up with a special meeting with him. It wasnt long but it was long enough to realize that hes not a fake and is truly a nice guy, some famous people can be real asses but not him. I cant wait to see him again

  • i envy you so much right now.

  • omg, he's amazing. 4:10, THAT'S CRAZY HIGH!!!

  • he is amazing.

  • wow who needs a big band???
