I'm watching in now for the first time in many years.. just got MeTV here. An episode from 64 with Warren Oates.. At least Mr Rugolo had a long life..
Nice to hear this so clearly - and in stereo! Note how this is another of those themes that was written to have LYRICS added, if possible - "The Fuu-ga-tive--..." - I wonder if anyone ever did? Anyone??
I was a kid and never missed an episode . I loved the show . It was sad to lose David so early. Such a young man with more to give . Cigarettes and booze
I recall this series well, although specific details of episodes have faded away. David Jannsen will always be "The Fugitive", so sad that he is no longer around. In the years that followed I used the name of "The Fugitive" as my C.B. (radio) handle.
Rest in peace - a great composer. I love The Fugitive, and a big part of it was the evocative music. The musical cues for David Janssen, for Barry Morse, for fear, running, etc. were perfect. I thought it was unbelievable that he never won an Emmy for it. Unforgettable and soulful.
Too many times music is overlooked in movies and TV...even as a 10 year old, I appreciated this piece of music - oh how nice it would be to be so talented!
Rather than just write a compelling score for a dramatic series, Rugolo went much further and somehow managed to match the heart-rending music with the lonely soul of David Jannsen. Sadly the actor did defeat his demons, including his battle with the bottle, but we will always have his powerful performances. And all that sad but somehow hopeful music.
