  • a lot of noise..

  • Those pickups make the sound so muffled..GOD!

  • Wow, this sounds really............not good on so many levels.

  • @Thrashman1990 i thought i had some other video open somewhere else

  • In terms of feeling, how much different is an 8 string from a 7 string? Besides the obvious width of the neck.

  • @xcrowdkillax depends on the 8 string and the 7 string to a large degree ;) If you took an RG 1527 and an RG 2228, the difference isn't as pronounced as if you compared the RG 1527 to a Hufschmid 8.

I think one of the major aspects - aside from the extra string and the added width - is the extra scale length. You have to re-adjust your 'blind-neck-navigation', if you know what I mean.

    Cheers,

    C

  • @xcrowdkillax

thicker wider neck, adjustment to ears as far as notes when chords are contructed and the scale is just different to look at(more width and depth)

  • now throw some drum tracks on here!!! nice soloing dude!!! how do you pull those leads off when you're slung so low? very well executed!

  • @shredalert58 thnx man :)))

I'm hoping to use some / all of the riffs in a new song for my current band DeepCore \m/

LOL - used to have it even lower than that - but that really did hurt the wrists after a while hahah

    Cheers,

    C

  • @CliveJevons

    Diezel is expensive very nice

  • what a HUGE tone !! amazing.. absolutely in love with these punchy and low rhythms..

  • @Carlcode47 thnx man :) \m/ \m/

    Cheers,

    C

  • @CliveJevons Hey , you should check out Guerilla guitars .

  • @Shink5 hey there :) I'd checked there site a while back, but just went there again - they've got some new models out which look wicked. Thanks for the tip ;) \m/

Unfortunately it'd be a bit on the expensive side to get one from over here in Europe with tax and everything going on top :(

  • @CliveJevons Yeah I guess , but like Blackmachine , all their guitars come with custom options such as wood , pickups , hardware ect

  • @Shink5 Absolutely. They also look awesome, and I love the specs and options! \m/

But we get f****d on import tax this end when buying stuff from abroad - and vice versa from what I've heard :(

Have you played one of their guitars? If so, what are your impressions?

    Cheers,

    C

  • @CliveJevons Ive played a few of their guitars , and they play great , the neck is very comfortable , I also tried their V and Im not a big fan of the V shape , I find them awkward to play , but even their V was actually comfortable to play . And im fortunate that I only live 30 minutes away from the factory .

  • OMG 0:20 What chords did you use for the rhythm guitar progression??

    Sick riffs, sick soloing!

  • @CORNP00 Hey man :) Thnx!! \m/ \m/

Sorry for the late reply ...

Right - the first is a B power chord (root, fifth, octave) on the 7th fret of the E string, then that moves into an add9 - so 7-9-11th frets on the E, A and D strings. Then its a G 6 played 8th on the low B string, 7th on the A string and 9th on the D string and lastly E 6 11 played 5th on the low B, 4th on the A string and 7th on the D. With the latter two, I dampen the E string with the finger fretting the low B string.

    Cheers,

    C

  • уродский аппарат, а соляга неплохая

  • Tone is a little too flubby

  • is their any 8 strings in flying v shapes

  • @christslayer666 the only one I've seen was an 8 string 'Routa' guitar by Amfisound (dubbya, dubbya, dubbya with a dot and an amfisound and a dot and an fi). Just had a look at their site, but the pic isn't up there any more :(

  • @christslayer666 yep the schecter hellraiser v-8

  • @christslayer666 Yeah. Schecter Hellraiser V-8

  • @christslayer666 Schecter make a Diamond Hellraiser in a V-shape. You can get one from DumCityGuitarLand for $1000.

  • @christslayer666

    yes there is

    schecter has a few

    go on drumcityguitarland (dot) com

  • @christslayer666 yes, there are. Schecter's

  • @christslayer666 you can also get an 8 string schecter V

  • @christslayer666 Schecter V 8 Hellraiser. :D

  • @christslayer666 Schecter are now doing one.

  • @christslayer666 I beliebe ESP/LTD do make 8 string flying Vs

  • @christslayer666 monsonguitars(dot)com that guy custom hand builds guitars i believe. i think he can do 8 strings too cuz i know he does some 7 strings.

  • just awesome man! o_o

  • nice improv dude but i wanna ask two things: 1)No offence but the tone of the rythm tracks is a bit muddy.Have you scooped the EQ?give it some mids and you won't regret it's like eating chocolate

2)Who much do you make a month?Dude you got a mountain of gear

  • 1) Absolutely right. I'm still learning about recording, and this was one of my very early attempts ;) Got a bit better since then, but still got a LOT to learn :D Still - keeps me off the streets hehe

    2) Enough ;) But the mountain of gear is more due to the length of time I've been buying (started in '89). Also, I spend almost all of my spending money on guitar gear, rather than cars or holidays etc.

    Cheers,

    C

  • 1) Just give it a go at some mids and you'll be fine ;-) try asking sound engineers for some tips ,if you have any as friends or something

    2)Money well spent then :-P

  • Exactly what I've been doing LOL It just seems that you can ask 3 sound engineers the same question, and get four answers hahaha. But there is some communality in their answers, and I'm hoping to find some time to try that out.

I should also point out that I'm not afraid of mids at all - I generally have them quite up in my tone, but this vid was done when I still had the Lundgren M8s in the BM, which are incredibly scooped to start with (hence I now have Häussel in there ;)).

    Cheers,

    C

  • M8s are scooped?really?i could never see that coming...generally lundgrens are respected though i have never heard of this "complaint" before.

As for the engineers..maybe you are right don't ask them about tone ask them about practical issues on recording and try them to see whose advice works best for your playing..And do listen to them if they tell you not to play the guitar in a bathtub filled with water XD

  • ROFL - I'll try to stick to that advice hahahaha

Yeah - the Lundgrens which came in my Blackmachine were definitely VERY scooped. Doug had noticed the same thing when I talked to him about it. Its not a problem if you are going for that very specific sound, of course ;) But I'm more of a 'DiMarzio Evo' kind of guy. In fact, I'm a total BlackDroïd Kent Armstrong Custom convert hehehe - those are by and far the best pups I've played so far!

    Cheers,

    C

  • ... but just let me add, that the Lundgren's are VERY well made pickups!! I didn't have a problem with the quality, its just that they weren't what I was looking for.

AND, the problem is DEFINITELY exaggerated by my inability to record a good guitar tone ;)

  • ... and just another thought: AFAIK the Lundgren M8s are custom hand wound pups, so maybe I just got landed with a bad batch?

  • If Doug noticed it too, then it's either a hand wound malfunction as you said,or maybe the combination of woods that didn't work with the specific guitar..i can't think of anything else, since i suppose you've tried the guitar in other amps too. Also yes i agree about the Blackdroid pups haven't played one in person but in vids or sound clips they've never let me down

  • ... we'd have to ask Doug if he's noticed that tonal characteristic in other M8s - AFAIK he's asked to install them on a fair few of the 8s he builds ... would be interesting to know :)

  • hey man... whats your opinion on the abm single string bridge pieces? are they comfortable to play on? the reason i ask is because im thinking of building a 7 string guitar, and wanted to use those bridge pieces... but i wanna make sure theyre comfortable and stable.

  • I find them really comfortable. They don't get in the way, very easy to adjust, and it makes string changes an absolute breeze!! :D

    Cheers,

    C

  • schecter c8 beats ibanez as does esp love the black machine by the way

  • try an audix i5 mic.

  • Thanks for the tip - I'll see if I can get my hand on one.

    Cheers,

    C

  • yeah dude Audix i5 are the shit.. they make the beast lurking within the amp come out dude..

  • only reason this isnt a 5/5 is because the reason we watch it to see that 8th string blow shit up

  • LOL - I best do one like that then hehehe ;)

    Cheers,

    C

  • ^_^

  • I like the guitar.

  • hey dude, can you tell me where i can buy a blacmachine guitar?

  • Directly from Doug - check out his web site at blackmachine with a dot and a net.

    Cheers,

    C

  • get an agile interceptor or agile intrepid dude..

    rondomusic com

  • hey clive !

u are from germany right ? have a question about the customs when u ordered ur blackmachine, that are 19% taxes and customs right ?

thinks its very very expensive, just for the shipping with the tax and customs .. :(

ah and i enjoy ur vids, pretty nice playing especially the clean stuff ! and you have some funny "möpse" i mean the dogs :P

  • Hi,

The UK is part of the EU, so there's no extra tax or customs :D If you ordered it from, say, the US, then there would be. You'd have to pay some percentage import tax, then the 19% MwSt on TOP of that!! (Which sucks, and which is way US imports are so expensive here :().

Thanks for the praise, man :) \m/

    Cheers,

    C

  • How much do Blackmachine's usually cost in American dollars? I obviously will have to wait a LONG time before I have the money for one but I would like to know so I have a goal to set, hahaha. And do you know when the Blackmachine site will be back up? Thanks for any help!

  • Hey there,

A BM 8 would probably run you around 4200 USD? That's without shipping and packaging, though :(

(AFAIK its normally 3500 Euro, but I've taken out 17% sales tax - but I don't know how much import and sales tax you'd have to pay in the US, so you'll have to add that in yourself).

Sorry - no idea when the web site will be back up - and checking daily myself LOL :)

    Cheers,

    C

  • Alright cool, so it'll take me a few months at my pay to get the amount needed. Do you know how much it would be for a 7 or 6? I'm not too sure if I want to go to an 8-string yet, I just got my first 7 a couple months ago.

  • Sorry - don't know the prices for the 6 or 7s, but they'll be less than the 8 for sure ;)

    Cheers,

    C

  • The seven is 2300 GPB, which would be around 3500 us dollars if I'm correct.

  • Is that an 8-string guitar you're using?? If so, WHERE did you get it??

And the way it sounds through that Diezel head.......*drools with delight*

  • Hells yes :)))

Its a Blackmachine 8 - a guy called Doug hand-makes them in London. The web site is normally blackmachine with a co and a uk - but its currently down for re-design :(.

    Cheers,

    C

  • dude come on msn once in a while

    ollie

  • Hehe - I'll try to ;) Just been super busy recently :(

    Cheers,

    C

  • Hey bro do you think you could still do that tool video with the blueface and an LP?

  • Hey there :)

I'll do my best, but don't hold your breath just yet - I've got a lot of work on at the moment and am only barely getting to even *play* guitar, let alone do any sort of recording :(((

Once things quiten down a bit and I've gotten through all the other vids which are first in the 'queue', then I'll have a go for sure :)

    Cheers,

    C

  • Awesome, hope things clear out for you bro. Things are hectic all the time here too.

Thanks alot, I've never seen another blue face, so I'd be awesome to hear some tool tones on that sucker when your ready.

    Take care

  • your really lucky to have a blackmachine, ive been on the waiting list for about 6 months

  • Man - I remember the WAITING! lol ... I had to wait over a year for mine once I'd ordered it ... but I fear that the waiting time is even longer now! So I wish you strength and patience during this time - just know that it is well worth it in the end! :))) \m/

    Cheers,

    C

  • \m/

  • Sehr feine Riffs, sehr feiner Sound...

    alles in allem fein ;-)

    Freue mich auf die EP!

  • I really like that song, I've heard song from your site as well. Are you working on some release?

  • Thanks! \m/ :)

Yeah - we're just putting the finishing touches on an EP ... untitled as yet, but we're really happy with how its sounding ;) Should be available in the next month if all goes well ...

I'm hoping to also post a little 'making of' type of vid and maybe an attempt at a music vid to one of the songs here :)

    Cheers,

    C

  • "Making of" video would be great! I love watching these stuff!

  • what are you using to duplicate

    a rhythm guitar?

  • I'm doing all the audio recording with GarageBand and then mix the audio to the video in iMovie. But I haven't figured out how to video all three takes and cut them together so that they're synched ... hence what I'm doing is recording the rhythm parts first, then videoing and recording the lead take, mixing the audio together, exporting it, then adding it to the video take of the solo - which is why you hear all three takes but only see one.

    Cheers,

    C

  • cool and full tone ;) thx Clive for posting

  • sexy.

  • this is fucking cool shit, the first riff sounded meshuggah-like.

  • nah, thats really korn like..

  • Cool.
