Yes, I agree British leadership fought for their own interest for the whole war and many acts British Command did to their allies, notably Republic of China is despicable. But the soldiers, like you said, do deserve our respects. I read many of the Canadian and British soldiers' memoirs, in them, they especially noted the bravery of their Chinese comrades in arms. That said, It is interesting to note the first British agents entering Hk in 1945 are ethnic Chinese.
