This video isn't about trying to find metal. It's to give ideas to people on how they can hide their metals for a short amount of time in the event of social and economic collapse. This is not a long-term solution to protecting your metals. People are not going to be walking around with metal detecors on your lawn -especially if you have some guns for self-defense.
Forget the lock box. Use pvc with removeable end caps. Easy to bury. Water tight. Light weight. Works for food stashes too. I have them all over my "FOREST".
This is an example that I was using in this video. Anyone can do the same thing with a safe, etc. Some people, especially those on a budget, who focus on storing more food than silver/gold, will probably have a smaller amount of silver/gold, therefore they will only need a smaller safe/lock box. There is no need to use a large safe that is hard to hide if you have little silver/gold. As far as food goes: you shouldn't hide the bulk of it outside So that won't matter. Anyway, thanks for watching.
Very cool tutorials and advice dude. Who in the hell taught u this cool stuff? Is your father a commando or somethin? What kind of guns do u got to protect your neck? I'm trying to get some revolvers myself.
Thanks. Yeah, I learned a lot from my uncle and father when I lived in Ireland. My Great-grandfather fought the British in the Irish revolution and the 1916 uprising and was a solder under Michael Collins, in the orginal IRA( Irish Republican Army). So yeah, I learned quite a bit about guns and self-defense in my life.
If things completely collapse, currency has no place, it will be barter only. People starving or freezing or thursty don't care about taking your gold for their shovel you want, they'd like your blanket and some of your fire wood though-- then you'd have a deal.
I always say and always have said in my videos to stock up on food, water, etc., first, before buying metals. This video is for those who already have metals and have already stocked up on food, guns, water, etc. For example, I have about 6-8 yrs of food storage, enough ammo, etc. At that point, it's alright to by silver, gold, and even alcohol and smokes, since those will be the new currency. But when interest rates go well above 20%, things will completely collapse.
There are woods near where I live, I should hide there, after I hear the news that its over and M-law is decalred. It's owned by the city by the way. The info I have is that the American government will collapse around Feb of 2009. What should I do? I don't want to be around for the mobs to break into my Apartmen and murder me for what I may or may not have.
The Gov. won't collapse by Feb 2009. However, that is when we could see inflation start to peak( around the Feb-April time period). This doesn't mean the gov. won't collapse. We'll probably see a COMPLETE systematic collapse of the U.S. gov. by early 2010/ late 2010 at the earliest and early/mid 2011 at the latest, assuming they don't prolong the inevitable depression first. Store food, buy guns, get out of the city, even if that means moving in with a friend, etc.
Well, have some of the things I talked about already happened with the U.S. economy? Yes. I am not asking people to take my word for the gospel. I am simply presenting the facts to those who have ears to listen. I am not some person in front of a pc either. I have a pretty good understanding of economics as that is my major I am working on. We are headed for a major depression and that is what will happen. If some people cannot except that then they have the right to their own opinion.
I have an accent. It's mixed because one half of my family is Irsh/English and the other half are Irish Americans. After being born in America, I was raised in England for about four years until I was five years old, then came back to America.
In summer, things get very hot in attics, so food and drinks shouldn't really go in there. As far as metals go, it depends. If you have a very big attic with a lock box and can hide it in one, then go for it. But if they make gold and silver bullion illegal - which they probably will - you want to hide it off of your property so that you can't get in trouble if it is found.
This is what happened during the depression, and that is why there is gold buried all over america, what happens if a person has a metal detector and finds your loot?
Right on for you! I don't have any metals, but I can grow and preserve food, and I have seeds, which are precious to me and will come in real handy when things are hard to come by. Unfortunately I am still in the city, like 10 min away from Downtown along the highway, I hear gunshots at night and there isn't even economic distress yet, so I don't think it is a good place to be, but I don't think I can move...Can't really afford to, I work in the city, don't know what else I would do...
Depends what kind of lock box you have. I have a key, yes. You can also buy ones with combination codes that you put in too, which would probably be better. If you have a key then put it somewhere people can't find it.
One thing I was told about the great depression was that people couldn't get jobs or money, but they would barter. They saved everything. A lot of older people save everything because they lived thru the great depression. If you meet an older person who hoards everything, ask them if they knew anyone who lived in the depressiion. Find out what they did to survive. Most people who lived thru the depression would be at least 86 years old now or older.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Give me a break. the economy will not collapse. there are people who really want this to happen. Cant hack it in the industrial world..but think they will be the big dog once we go back to hunting and gathering. i know somewhere there is some loser guy thinking.."all the women will want me because i have big garden and lots of guns. women don't like me now but just wait till the economy collapses , they'll come running to me"..fuckin pathetic.
You obviously never knew someone who lived thru the depression, or else you wouldn't say that. One of my relatives told me about what it was like as a kid. Kids went to school with no shoes and were hungry. They made their own toys. The people who did ok knew how to farm and can their own food for winter. People had goats and chickens along with their gardens. The way it was described to me, I hope it never happens again. I think it's wise to be prepared for anything.
Redemption is near thanx to a socialized liberated government that never a gave a damn about protecting the citizens. Only of their own foolish dreams and desires. You wanna survive the collapse of the free world you better resolve your sins and prepare for the rapture. Hiding Precious Metals in the ground is not the answer to todays problems.
I never said to go out and buy metals and hide them in the ground. I am simply advising people to put the precious metals they already have in a safe place, like in a box underground, etc. As I already stated, food, water, etc., should come first. Obviously, God's plan will be much worse for those are are not ready.
Keep spreading the word, folks. Before it's all over and done with, we're all going to need one another. The more people who're warned and prepared, the better our own chances of survival become. Well done, Jack. Keep 'em coming. Also, google:
'survivlism.' and
'wilderness survival.' Oh, if ya know one end of a weapon from another, get a shotgun or two. For 'liquidity challenged' checkbooks, a .410 is a good, general purpose weapon. Inexpensive, accurate and not a lot of kick.
Jack, a book I suggest for everyone is "Back to Basics" by Reader's Digest. It's a comprehensive collection of traditional skills people used to survive before the oil age, very good stuff to know. Could save your life. Still can get it at amazon
Great book. Thanks. Just bought it a few days ago. I am only focusing on giving everyone basic things that they will need to know in order to survive. Cheers.
Jack, you're very welcome, the more people that know those skills the better off we will all be. Hoping that cheap oil will forever make life easy is something of a fools paradise in this day and age, it's fading fast. And oil is only one problem we are facing. Take care, all the best, Mike
I just bought some fake Carpet cleaner cans, that look exactly like a carpet cleaner spray. But you twist the bottom and there is a hole to place your gold in. Only 20 bucks :)
They make the cans really light, so that when you add the gold in, it feels normal. You can't really put to much silver in them though. I place some gold and stuffed paper towels in it so it doesn't make any noise.
We will for sure be living far more locally...as Kunstler suggested, even living within our neighborhoods as things get nuts. I have a half acre that is becoming quite sustainable for me and my family.
If there is a real serious economic collapse there is one thing that will be worth more than silver and gold... FOOD! Can't eat silver and gold and nobody is going to give you the little food they have for your gold.
I agree. That is why I said to buy food and other essentials FIRST. Once you have food and guns and other essentials, it wouldn't hurt to have something like silver bullion on hand. Things like wine and smokes will also be part of the new currency for some time.
Jack, another good way to stash items like gold is use ABS plastic pipe. You place your stash in the tube and seal it water tight. Bury the tube vertical so your gold is out of reach of the metal detectors. Wine, smokes and hard liquor would indeed be good stuff to have for bartering. Extra guns and ammo you could trade would be worth their weight in gold!
Hopefully it won't come to that. But I'm beginning to wonder from what I've been observing, I'm getting ready.
I'm looking for a nice place in the forest but shouldn't I be staying home to guard my place while things go bad. I'm extremely prepared but I hope things won't get that bad.
I don't think you would want to live in your home if you live in the city. It WILL get bad. People will be out of work, they'll have no money, and they'll have no food, so chances are they WILL be breaking into stores and homes. This happened during the first great depression. It is coming. Stay away from big cities and grow your own food.
Thanks Jack for responding. Most of friends think I'm psychotic when I tell them to prepare for a second great depression. I wonder how many people are aware of this thing?
Jack, I know the food problem is worldwide, but with all the executive orders on the books and uncertainty around the election do you think it is safer to be in the US or Europe come fall?
It depends. It will get pretty bad everywhere, but as long as you live away from a city you should be fine. I moved away from the city and I live in a big forest and it would be hard for people to find me to break into my home and take things. Just find a good area out in the country and you'll be fine. If you are going to move anyway, Southern Ireland or Alaska is great.
Just move somewhere where you can grow food or raise some small animal to eat. Also some place that you can collect water. A warm place will be nice, that will help you with food and energy not to fighting with the cold. I will move to countries where there will be no shortage of food and that the mixed of GNP is not so much depending on Service industry and trade so heavily with USA. Look into THAILAND.
Please google "Saudi prepare nuclear fallout April 2008" "Israel drill april 2008" "REX84" "VMADS" "HAARP" Maybe we all can talk about what all these mean. I am more afraid of something more than USD or economic collapse to take place.
Unemployment DATA!!!!! Worse than expected!!!! JUMPS 4.8% to 5.1%, loss for march was 80,000, conventional forecasters had estimated 50,000. Largest job losses in 5 Years.
"About 1.4 million persons (not seasonally adjusted) were marginally attached to the labor force in March. These individuals wanted and were available for work and had looked for a job sometime in the prior 12 months. They were not counted as unemployed because they had not searched for work in the 4 weeks preceding the survey." from a quote in urbansurvival dot com/week on Friday 4/4.
BobBrinker: The 'marginally attached' although not employed, are not seeking employment. Therefore they are not counted as actively unemployed. It is not assumed that they are employed - just that they do not want to work, for whatever reason.
Jack .. any prediction when will USD collapse? How bad will it be reduced to after all the dust settle? I think it could well be worth 15 to 20 cents on a dollar. It will come soon after we see Oil at $6 per gallon and a pass of massive gun control bill by the government. I see this around Oct 2008 or March 2009
It will keep tanking as the Feds keep cutting rates. But they are running out of money and it could collapse by fall or spring '09. The 'Feds' will do whatever they can to prolong the inevitable crisis. But we will be in a depression by 2009. Go read about Zimbabwe, Africa, because that will be us.
BTW, rice is now in shortagee. India , Egypt government just suspensed all export of rice. Vietname cut in half. Thailand price of rice has been increasing 50% in the last few months and in 2 months will be around double of price of Dec. What does this tell you? Flour price is already double in the last year.
Today I tried to tell a close friend of mine (who is a strong republican) about dollar collapse and the crisis to come. He laughed and knocked down everything I said. He said no way USD will collapse and so on because other nations will not let it happen because it will be bad for the whole world. He kept on saying US government is smart and will come up with something. There is nothing to worry. I couldn't get through to him.
The collapse of the dollar will be bad for many countries, but sooner or later coutnries like China will understand that they CAN survive without our gross consumption. They ahve no choice but to shy away from the USD when it crashes. It doesn't matter what your friend believes. This will happen when the dollar crashes.
Kelvin: Find any and all books by writer/ policeman/ gun expert Massad Ayoob. He writes straightforward advice without the machismo. Guns are tools not toys...remember that and you'll be ahead of most people! Good luck on your purchase and subsequent training!
If you live away from the city and/or move before the poop hits the fan, there really won't be any need to carry ALL of your silver. Silver is a poor mans gold. No one will be giving a 1 oz gold coin away for a pound of meat. That is WAY too much money. This is where silver comes in handy. But, like I said, metals are jsut plan B. Storable food is plan A.
Money pumping in the system will work till people realize what is actually going on. The more people talk about it, it will have no effect and the crash will be faster as people will pull money out to buy gold/silver. We could see hyperinflation before the dollar collapse as people are in a hurry to buy food to store for a year. Housing price will collapse as people want to sell houses for cash. However way you look at it, it will be very messy if you are not prepare before others do.
The Feds are just artificially keeping the market afloat and will continue to do so. While they do this, the little guy is getting in and the smarter people are leaving. What has happened already is icing on the cake. This was from just 10%....wait until 90% of the sb mortgages reset leter this year. It will be much, much worse with more bank failures.
Yeah. That happens in a country that is run by fundie chriatian nutheads with an IQ of 85. Laissez-faire capitalism - the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.
you are right. I tried to buy Silver coin, Egle. I called 5 places, none has it for sale.. but they are willing to buy. So I settled for Austrian coin instead. What does that tell you? It will be fast and swive. Those who have lots of CASH in banks, 401K, stocks ... when Bank HOliday comes and reopen, it's going to be too late. Those in the city are going to have a rough time because of the limited food supply. I say middle of next year that all these will happen, if not sooner.
(MarketWatch)- The dollar bumped lower Tuesday after data showed U.S. consumer confidence expectations were at a 35-year low in March, and home prices in 20 major U.S. cities plunged a record 10.7%. The dollar index, which measures the U.S. currency against a basket of major counterparts, was at 72.222, compared with 72.340 earlier Tuesday. Against the yen, the dollar was buying 99.62 yen, down from 100.20 earlier, and the euro bought $1.5601, up from $1.5580
When the USD Index goes under 55, watch out. It will be fast fall and the collapse will come soon after. Make sure you have things ready to survive 1 year. Moving out of the country could be an option as well. Go to countries with relatively stable government and less complex in the banking system .. where it is warm that food shortage won't be a problem. Thailand is a good place.
Southern Ireland is a good place too. I might move there for a bit if things get really, really bad. My cousin actually owns a big farm up there too. But for right now I am not in the city so hopefully that will work.
Jack... I have been closely following world events since I am a daytrader. I believe we are here because of a group of people say so. USD will collapse which will lead to the doomsdays. With Iran/Russia oil brouse to fully get online and so on, the USD will collapse. I think we will see war with Iran before the collapse, last attempt to preventing the collapse. If no war, I am thinking that by mid 2009, USD will collapse as well as US govern 6 months later. What is your time frame?
WW 2 pulled us out of the big mess of the great depression, so it is possible that WW 3could break out before or after the depression. I'm thinking some kind of major conflict( like the Iran war) will happen when the next puppet president comes in or after the next depression, when the bankers get what they want. Depression will come in 2009. Some kind of conflict WILL be used by then to PROLONG the crisis.
Great videos... listen im from ireland and when the US goes down ireland will collapse. we are very much tied to the us politically and economically. preparing for the us collapse is what every person living in ireland should prepare for. Peace
I too am Irish! I go over there to see my cousins all the time. They have a farm up there. Yes, when America goes down it WILL bring down Europe too. It will be a big mess. You're right, EVERY person should be preparing and not spending their money on things they don't need.
I don't think I do. I have to look. But MANY soft, green leaves on trees are actually eatable, like spinach leaves. So that and acorns are great when it comes to survival. I have some fruit trees and I am planting more, so I think that is fine as far as trees go.
We used to make birch syrup in Alaska - takes quite a bit of sap, and then lots of time to boil it down to syrup, but it was fun to do. Needs to be done in the early spring, when it still gets very cold at night.
Try to identify the trees and bushes in your forest - natural foods and health remedies are there for the taking. You may also want to locate favorable mushroom hunting spots, or start some mushroom culture yourself.
I can find some wild honey in summer in my forest. I can also eat mushrooms. Just make sure the mushrooms you eat grow on the trees! Those usually aren't poisonous. You're right though. You'd be amazed at how many things actually are eatable in a forest! I got lost in one when I was 16 and lived for one whole month in a forest by the mountains. It was all over the local news...so I guess thats my experience, lol.
Dude dig a 4 foot deep hole aprox 2 x 3 in L and W be sure at six or seven inches from the top there is a bit of a shelf to rest a peice of plywood over drill a hole in the plywood and place a peice of camo colored nylon rope throut it witha knot. Cover the plywood with the rope out of the ground and cover the rope with foliage and dirt. I have done this to hide my secret stash works like a dreammmm.
Hey gang. I don't know about you but is TGS just in the room to stir up shit. One of his last remarks seemed like he was referring to MOT. Pardon my French.
Yeah, we all need to be getting along during this inevitable collapse of America. Save the fighting for....well, fighting, when the mob comes to take your gold and guns!!!
Yes. But make sure you do NOT water your plants at the time of the day when it is the hottest. Wait until it cools down and then water your plants. Watering plants in direct sunlight is a recipe for sure death! Also, I feed my plants sea water because of the mineral content in it. It keeps the soil replenished so there will be a better chance of bugs not eating the plant!
Jack, you should probably dilute that seawater a bit - the salts will build up in the soil over time and cause your plants to do poorly. The very best thing to water with is rainwater; its naturally ionized and makes plants thrive. Catch it in barrels, run it to your planting areas through gravity drip irrigation hose. I water very early morning - but I have river silty loam. I also mulch heavily with composted leaves. It helps keep the ground temperature and moisture more even.
Hmm, I use water from the ocean/river all the time. I don't think sea salt wil hurt it because it is so high in minerals it helps the plants grow. I use rainwater too, but I also use water from the ocean a couple times a week, so it isn't much anyway. The salt actually evaporates.
The sad thing is I would have been laughing at you 6 months ago, as many are today.
However the real truth is you do not know how people will respond to the financial collapse of the dollar. People may come together and help each other.
That is my hope and I am working with my community to ensure that we do.
You're right. Many people will come together....but many people will also be committing they ahve never committed before in order to feed themselves and/or their family. Crime will go through the roof. Just look what happens on wall street when the dow goes down 1000 points!
Could you make a video in regard to the recent actions taken by the Federal Reserve. To be quite honest, it would add to your integrity as a Youtuber to elaborate as to why you are making videos such as this one. P.S. if you live out in the country, it will be much easier for someone to do you harm. Neighborhoods will stick together if the shit hits the fan. It's funny how this all feels like the Y2K scare, or the chemical weapon scare a few years back.
You mean the Federal Reserve( a private bank) giving 30 million of our own tax payers money to Morgan to buy up Bear Stearns? I'm really mad about that. I will make one on that. Cheers.
Also make sure to know where you put it, and make some kind of treasure map on how to get back to it. After losing everything in 1929 my grandpa put all of his money (it was silver money then...) in glass canning jars and buried it around the farm in places he knew about. Problem with that is he got Alzheimers, then died, and we had to run around 160 acres with a metal detector to find it all. Still don't know if it was all found or not.
Yep, a 'landmark' area. I have a photographic memory, so I'd have no problem remembering where I put it....especially if it's by a landmark area by your property, like a shed. So you never found your silver? Argh!!!!
All of us cousins got together one summer and did the search - we did locate quite a bit - that was back in the early '80s. We just don't know if we ever found it all. Grandpa never trusted a bank again after the 1929 crash. And he didn't want to keep any maps for some reason.
Just made it a little harder on us after he was gone - but it was quite an entertaining family reunion we had!!
Might want to suggest that you bury it deep, then put some kind of decoy type junk (nuts & bolts, old angle iron, etc) a foot or so above it in the hole...
Good info, hunt. If the hole is deep enough, the dirt will be somewhat thick on top, so it shouldn't really matter. but if you want to do that, thats always better. There are many leaves abck there too, so I put thsoe on top. The chances of the 'mob' finding it is very rare anyway.
They have metal detectors that can find it, so I would definitely go as deep as you can. And hunt is right about using a decoy buried on top of it, some kind of old metal junk...
Yep, thats why it's good to dig off of your property. If you dig no shorter than 10-20 feet off of your property, chances are they won't be using it around there...just on your yard. Good idea though.
Are u fucking retarded? Thank u captain obvious! No shit I should pick a place I'll remember!! and if things get as bad as u say gold and silver will be totally useless! Unfortunately I am still in the city, like 10 min away from Downtown along the highway, I hear gunshots at night and there isn't even economic distress yet, so I don't think it is a good place to be, but I don't think I can move...Can't really afford to, I work in the city, don't know what else I would do...

Give me a break. the economy will not collapse. there are people who really want this to happen. Cant hack it in the industrial world..but think they will be the big dog once we go back to hunting and gathering. i know somewhere there is some loser guy thinking.."all the women will want me because i have big garden and lots of guns. women don't like me now but just wait till the economy collapses , they'll come running to me"..fuckin pathetic.
uzda4ce 3 years ago
You're right. A depression never happened in the 1930s and Hitler never castrated six million plus people either.
JackNeedles 3 years ago

Hiding Precious Metals in the ground is not the answer to todays problems.
south1777 3 years ago

BobBrinkerisanIdiot 3 years ago
Hey BobBrinkeris,
How heavy are real carpet cleaner cans?
Will you be able to fit something else in to make the weight distribute 'normally' and buffer the noise??
hunt1803 3 years ago
They make the cans really light, so that when you add the gold in, it feels normal. You can't really put to much silver in them though. I place some gold and stuffed paper towels in it so it doesn't make any noise.

If there is a real serious economic collapse there is one thing that will be worth more than silver and gold... FOOD! Can't eat silver and gold and nobody is going to give you the little food they have for your gold.
imikewillrockyou 3 years ago 2
I agree. That is why I said to buy food and other essentials FIRST. Once you have food and guns and other essentials, it wouldn't hurt to have something like silver bullion on hand. Things like wine and smokes will also be part of the new currency for some time.
JackNeedles 3 years ago
Jack, another good way to stash items like gold is use ABS plastic pipe. You place your stash in the tube and seal it water tight. Bury the tube vertical so your gold is out of reach of the metal detectors. Wine, smokes and hard liquor would indeed be good stuff to have for bartering. Extra guns and ammo you could trade would be worth their weight in gold!
Hopefully it won't come to that. But I'm beginning to wonder from what I've been observing, I'm getting ready.

moniequa 3 years ago
I don't think you would want to live in your home if you live in the city. It WILL get bad. People will be out of work, they'll have no money, and they'll have no food, so chances are they WILL be breaking into stores and homes. This happened during the first great depression. It is coming. Stay away from big cities and grow your own food.
JackNeedles 3 years ago
Thanks Jack for responding. Most of friends think I'm psychotic when I tell them to prepare for a second great depression. I wonder how many people are aware of this thing?
moniequa 3 years ago
Jack, I know the food problem is worldwide, but with all the executive orders on the books and uncertainty around the election do you think it is safer to be in the US or Europe come fall?
sheiki22 3 years ago
JackNeedles 3 years ago
Just move somewhere where you can grow food or raise some small animal to eat. Also some place that you can collect water. A warm place will be nice, that will help you with food and energy not to fighting with the cold. I will move to countries where there will be no shortage of food and that the mixed of GNP is not so much depending on Service industry and trade so heavily with USA. Look into THAILAND.

These individuals wanted and were available for work and had looked for a job sometime in the prior 12 months. They were not counted as unemployed because they had not searched for work in the 4 weeks preceding the survey." from a quote in urbansurvival dot com/week on Friday 4/4.
hunt1803 3 years ago
Dont they just assume people who people are employed 6 months after they file unemployment? So regardless, they take them out of the numbers?
BobBrinkerisanIdiot 3 years ago 2
BobBrinker: The 'marginally attached' although not employed, are not seeking employment. Therefore they are not counted as actively unemployed. It is not assumed that they are employed - just that they do not want to work, for whatever reason.

Jack .. any prediction when will USD collapse? How bad will it be reduced to after all the dust settle? I think it could well be worth 15 to 20 cents on a dollar. It will come soon after we see Oil at $6 per gallon and a pass of massive gun control bill by the government. I see this around Oct 2008 or March 2009
Kelvin701Lakeland 3 years ago
It will keep tanking as the Feds keep cutting rates. But they are running out of money and it could collapse by fall or spring '09. The 'Feds' will do whatever they can to prolong the inevitable crisis. But we will be in a depression by 2009. Go read about Zimbabwe, Africa, because that will be us.

BTW, rice is now in shortagee. India , Egypt government just suspensed all export of rice. Vietname cut in half.
Kelvin701Lakeland 3 years ago
The collapse of the dollar will be bad for many countries, but sooner or later coutnries like China will understand that they CAN survive without our gross consumption. They ahve no choice but to shy away from the USD when it crashes. It doesn't matter what your friend believes. This will happen when the dollar crashes.

JackNeedles 3 years ago
Money pumping in the system will work till people realize what is actually going on. The more people talk about it, it will have no effect and the crash will be faster as people will pull money out to buy gold/silver. We could see hyperinflation before the dollar collapse as people are in a hurry to buy food to store for a year. Housing price will collapse as people want to sell houses for cash. However way you look at it, it will be very messy if you are not prepare before others do.
Kelvin701Lakeland 3 years ago 2
The Feds are just artificially keeping the market afloat and will continue to do so. While they do this, the little guy is getting in and the smarter people are leaving. What has happened already is icing on the cake. This was from just 10%....wait until 90% of the sb mortgages reset leter this year. It will be much, much worse with more bank failures.

you are right.
Kelvin701Lakeland 3 years ago
So much for the dollar bottom LOL
(MarketWatch)- The dollar bumped lower Tuesday after data showed U.S. consumer confidence expectations were at a 35-year low in March, and home prices in 20 major U.S. cities plunged a record 10.7%. The dollar index, which measures the U.S. currency against a basket of major counterparts, was at 72.222, compared with 72.340 earlier Tuesday. Against the yen, the dollar was buying 99.62 yen, down from 100.20 earlier, and the euro bought $1.5601, up from $1.5580
visionvictory 4 years ago
Yeah, God help the little guys who are getting back in...
JackNeedles 3 years ago
When the USD Index goes under 55, watch out. It will be fast fall and the collapse will come soon after. Make sure you have things ready to survive 1 year. Moving out of the country could be an option as well. Go to countries with relatively stable government and less complex in the banking system .. where it is warm that food shortage won't be a problem. Thailand is a good place.
Kelvin701Lakeland 3 years ago
Southern Ireland is a good place too. I might move there for a bit if things get really, really bad. My cousin actually owns a big farm up there too. But for right now I am not in the city so hopefully that will work.
JackNeedles 3 years ago
Kelvin701Lakeland 4 years ago 2
Hey Kelvin,
WW 2 pulled us out of the big mess of the great depression, so it is possible that WW 3could break out before or after the depression. I'm thinking some kind of major conflict( like the Iran war) will happen when the next puppet president comes in or after the next depression, when the bankers get what they want. Depression will come in 2009. Some kind of conflict WILL be used by then to PROLONG the crisis.

Jack - do you have any sugar maples in your forest? It would be cool if you could make your own maple syrup.
hunt1803 4 years ago
I don't think I do. I have to look. But MANY soft, green leaves on trees are actually eatable, like spinach leaves. So that and acorns are great when it comes to survival. I have some fruit trees and I am planting more, so I think that is fine as far as trees go.
JackNeedles 4 years ago
We used to make birch syrup in Alaska - takes quite a bit of sap, and then lots of time to boil it down to syrup, but it was fun to do. Needs to be done in the early spring, when it still gets very cold at night.
Try to identify the trees and bushes in your forest - natural foods and health remedies are there for the taking. You may also want to locate favorable mushroom hunting spots, or start some mushroom culture yourself.
hunt1803 4 years ago
I can find some wild honey in summer in my forest. I can also eat mushrooms. Just make sure the mushrooms you eat grow on the trees! Those usually aren't poisonous. You're right though. You'd be amazed at how many things actually are eatable in a forest! I got lost in one when I was 16 and lived for one whole month in a forest by the mountains. It was all over the local news...so I guess thats my experience, lol.

hunt1803 4 years ago
Hey Jack. Should I water my garden more then once per day. I have sandy loam soil. Seems to be dry when I get home.
Hopefl1 4 years ago
JackNeedles 4 years ago
Jack, you should probably dilute that seawater a bit - the salts will build up in the soil over time and cause your plants to do poorly. The very best thing to water with is rainwater; its naturally ionized and makes plants thrive. Catch it in barrels, run it to your planting areas through gravity drip irrigation hose. I water very early morning - but I have river silty loam. I also mulch heavily with composted leaves. It helps keep the ground temperature and moisture more even.
hunt1803 4 years ago
Hmm, I use water from the ocean/river all the time. I don't think sea salt wil hurt it because it is so high in minerals it helps the plants grow. I use rainwater too, but I also use water from the ocean a couple times a week, so it isn't much anyway. The salt actually evaporates.

Jack,
Could you make a video in regard to the recent actions taken by the Federal Reserve. To be quite honest, it would add to your integrity as a Youtuber to elaborate as to why you are making videos such as this one. P.S. if you live out in the country, it will be much easier for someone to do you harm. Neighborhoods will stick together if the shit hits the fan. It's funny how this all feels like the Y2K scare, or the chemical weapon scare a few years back.
sunnyroots1 4 years ago
You mean the Federal Reserve( a private bank) giving 30 million of our own tax payers money to Morgan to buy up Bear Stearns? I'm really mad about that. I will make one on that. Cheers.
JackNeedles 4 years ago
good vids, hope you make more
sbmillionair 4 years ago 2
Also make sure to know where you put it, and make some kind of treasure map on how to get back to it. After losing everything in 1929 my grandpa put all of his money (it was silver money then...) in glass canning jars and buried it around the farm in places he knew about. Problem with that is he got Alzheimers, then died, and we had to run around 160 acres with a metal detector to find it all. Still don't know if it was all found or not.
hunt1803 4 years ago
Yep, a 'landmark' area. I have a photographic memory, so I'd have no problem remembering where I put it....especially if it's by a landmark area by your property, like a shed. So you never found your silver? Argh!!!!
JackNeedles 4 years ago
All of us cousins got together one summer and did the search - we did locate quite a bit - that was back in the early '80s. We just don't know if we ever found it all. Grandpa never trusted a bank again after the 1929 crash. And he didn't want to keep any maps for some reason.
Just made it a little harder on us after he was gone - but it was quite an entertaining family reunion we had!!
hunt1803 4 years ago 2
Sounds like fun. I have a reunion coming up but no silver hunt to look forward to. Just a lot of preening relatives. Oh well.

Fantastic info, Jack! This is something every precious metals investor needs to know! Did you come up with that idea? Lol.
Nice forest, BTW!
1776in2008 4 years ago 2
Might want to suggest that you bury it deep, then put some kind of decoy type junk (nuts & bolts, old angle iron, etc) a foot or so above it in the hole...
hunt1803 4 years ago 3
Yeah, but I think 4-6 feet is deep enough! Maybe thats why he said 4-6 feet. Trust me. Very deep, man.
1776in2008 4 years ago
Good info, hunt. If the hole is deep enough, the dirt will be somewhat thick on top, so it shouldn't really matter. but if you want to do that, thats always better. There are many leaves abck there too, so I put thsoe on top. The chances of the 'mob' finding it is very rare anyway.
JackNeedles 4 years ago
They have metal detectors that can find it, so I would definitely go as deep as you can. And hunt is right about using a decoy buried on top of it, some kind of old metal junk...
girlyoudontknow 4 years ago
Yep, thats why it's good to dig off of your property. If you dig no shorter than 10-20 feet off of your property, chances are they won't be using it around there...just on your yard. Good idea though.

Smart idea, hunt.
