awwww i lived close to Hiroshima/Miyajima for the past year and just got back home two weeks ago... seeing this i realize how much i already miss it ♥
I saw you live in Fukuoka! I only went there once but really loved it! Maybe i'll return for my masters degree (hoping either in Fukuoka or Osaka) :)
i remember when my older sister and i were walking to the store, and we stopped when a deer appeared and we both stared at it for awhile as it stood still glareing into our souls XD i wanted to give it a cracker, it ran away :c i guess it only works in japan ^^;
Ah!! I remember going there last year in June!! I loved going to the Momiji Manju factory and getting to try free samples. The chocolate-dipped ones were especially good. Ah... I hope to see that place again someday when I have the money and Japan is doing better.
omg I love Miyajima. I went there with my host sister and her friends when I went to Japan. Someone handed me some food pellets to feed the deer, and they all just kinda started attacking me...like biting on my clothes and stuff. I was terrified haha.
@ParkLeeNa Throughout one week it ends up being, 3 voice classes, 4 guitar (harmonic, melodic, technique seminar, songwriting seminar), 1 instrumental ensemble, 1 band ensemble, 1 ear training, 1 music theory, 1 copyright law.
Voice is like bootcamp, they say "if you're not in physical shape, you can't perform live", so they always make us sing scales and voice warm-ups while jumping. You sweat a lot.
i think its fucking crazy because i was JUST thinkin how awesome it is that yall are still together and go everywhere together. then that popped up. i dont think you should believe that rubbish. yall are def the cutest couple
Oh haha yeah that place is nice, but cold hahaha. The temple is also pretty cool with the red little red shrine/bridge/ thingy/pillar in the middle of the lake
@cloudstrifeification You can't really tell in the video, but it was a male deer ( a buck?) they saw off their antlers so they don't harm tourists, I guess. He totally made a charge at me that would have been dangerous otherwise.
@cloudstrifeification like it's more of a quick head-butt action, but in the next part where I'm talking (0:40), I have my hand on his head because he was still pushing towards me. You can see him kind of shake his head around.
Oh man... that's my home. I can see my house from there. I'm on Miyajima up to 4 times a week. Please, please don't feed the deer. It makes them sick. They die all the time from tourists feeding them food, paper, anything. That hurt to watch. :(
@shortnsuite3 They were eating garbage, plastic, anything off the ground, and they were really aggressive. One was biting my sweater. I thought it'd be better to give them something real and digestible instead. :(((
@Ciaela Yeah, I know. It's pretty sad. That's nice that you gave them something digestible, but they eat that crap cause tourists feed it to them, you know? Sorry if I came off rude; I love my island. Hope you had a great time!
I love Miyajima. I've been there twice and it's such a great experience. Last time I went, I got to stay in a seaside hotel and it's just breath taking at night.
Also, kind of off topic. But the deer there were like crazy. I saw one of the deer actually eating a bike handle. o.o
If just a location makes couples break up, then I must start changing what I believe was important in a relationship. Haha, I don't believe it.. Oh well, guess we'll see in a couple of weeks? :P
It's so cool to see Japan. I'd love to go there one day! At least I know of a couple of places now by seeing your videos :-)
i been durr...we saw dis deer covered in blood and its face was torn out. Everyone was taking pictures til i started yelling at them to leave it alone. @_@
@Expresso98 You don't need to think to deeply about it. It's just something people say. I'm sure couples that go to the supermarket, or to the mall, tend to break up too. People date many times in their lives before they get married, and even if they marry, people tend to divorce.
I don't think it's scientifically relevant to location, how can visiting a neutral place influence a relationship so badly? It's just some myth people made up for fun, you don't need to take it so seriously. :)
Miyajima is a great island to visit. It is a holy place. You are not allowed to give birth on Miyajima and you are not allowed to bury your dead there, either. I had some great oysters there.
The only thing I do not understand, is why there are rocks placed on the Torii. I noticed that when I was able to walk up to it.
Anyway, I also took a walk up the mountains and had a nice view over the island and could see over into Miyajimaguchi.
@Ciaela No not the barnacles but on the cross beams at the top. I saw lots of rocks. Or if you like large stones. Not sure if they were put there by man or nature.
I do love Miyajima. I took my parents to visit there a few years back. Wen't in summer though so the heat was a little overwhelming. You look like you went at a good time though. :)
@HarpSama I looked it up. It means "good and flat," whatever the heck THAT means! I mean, would you name your kid Good and Flat? "Hey, Good and Flat, pick up your toys!"
Ryuhei is too funny. Any time I see him on a bike now, I remember the outtake from the other video where he almost crashed both of you. He's like a Japanese "Charlie Chaplin" at times hehe.
@VTnumb I had a job in Canada, then I came to Japan and got a job again. Money! I work Monday-Friday after school every day. Like, typically I go to school from 9-3 and work from 4-9 (with one hour to catch the train in between) every day.
@TheGhx I don't get paid per hour, I get paid per lesson. So like, I don't get paid for prep time, or wait time, I only get paid for the classes I teach. Anywhere from 1-3 classes a day. Between prep, cleanup, and writing reports for each lesson, it takes quite a while. Other than that, I always thought it was rude to ask someone about their income, I guess they don't teach that in other countries? Maybe it's just a Canadian thing, but I don't discuss money with strangers.
@Ciaela Usually i heard people get paid in Japan by hours of work they done as the Immigration law state that those with student visa can only work up to 28 hours per week. I am sorry if i offended you because, knowing how much a foreign get paid in Japan is important as you can calculate how many hours would you need to work per day to cover all of your expense. On other note, asking about each other salary is quite normal thins in Asia.
@TheGhx Nono, like I mean, I get this question a lot but I'm always shocked because I was always told it's rude to talk about money. I don't know how much my co-workers make, whether they make more or less, I don't even know how much Ryuhei makes every month, and we live in the same apartment. I've never asked because it's none of my business. Not offended, I just genuinely thought that was a rule or something. Like how people shouldn't discuss religion or who they're voting for..
@Ciaela it's probably rule of the west, because as far as i am concern. A lot of country in Asia don't have that rule. Middle east, south east Asia, China and etc. Anyway thanks for your information :)
@Ciaela I've been in B.C. during 1 month (english immersion) and people are WAYYY much more "this-is-my-own-business-GTFO" than in Quebec. Dunno about others provinces thought. That made me think of japanese people at that time (not much personal questions).
@VTnumb Most westerners in Japan teach English. It helps to have an English degree, but any degree and being a native speaker of the language will often do.
Thank you for sharing wonderful video of Miyajima. I also went to Miyajima last month. Miyajima is a very spiritual place in japan where it is believed that Gods live. Have you tried a cable car going to the mountain? You can see many beautiful things there including wild monkeys, temples, views, bog rocks, etc. My favourite is fire that has been lasting since 1200 years ago!! "Peace fire" in the Hiroshima Peace Park use the fire as well. I would love to go to Miyajima again! Thank you!
@selllout101 Well kind of. There are things that I can only express in English, and there are things that are quicker/easier said in Japanese. I have a habit of starting a sentence in one language and finishing it in the other. Some words come faster to me in Japanese and some come faster in English?

Ciaela-sama : do you know why it's not supposed to be lucky for "couples" to visit Miyajima? Where did this superstition come from?
And what type of "couples"? Married? Courting? Human only? There seem to be lost of deer, some of those must be couples, ne? Thanks!
