  • A biplane at 0:40?!

  • @initvesa I-153's, nasty little buggers.

  • Luftwaffe - The Battle Begins

  • My dad was a 385th BG pilot in 44-45, 37 combat missions and he has nothing but respect for the Luftwaffe fliers. They fought hard & died for their country. Even when the appearance of the Mustang & barely trained pilots spelled almost certain death, the Luftwaffe still came up to fight.

I'm a Marine myself, however you slice it, war is brutal. All sides in any war will ultimately resort to whatever tactics it will take to win, or stave off defeat. Civilians will always die in wars. FACT!

  • GERMANY bombed the fuck out of Europe BEFORE Churchill gave any orders. But they cried when the Allies gave them some of their own medicine.

    Fuckwits.

  • Music reminds me of ... "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray." Guess I'm getting old.

  • luftwaffe curse? only one name, adolf Hitler with his bad ideas like back me 262 for example.

  • @214metalero Hitler's idea's weren't bad, they were just a little late. Since Germany lost the war, everyone feels they have to discuss the "evil Nazi's" and their idea's of world slavery. Hitler didn't want a war with Britain, so he decided to stop fighting the British in 1940 and begin the defense against Soviet Russia, but because he stopped, everyone believes that Britain won. Everything Hitler did to give the allies a chance to settle peacefully was mistaken for weakness.

  • luftwaffe curse? only one name, adolf Hitler with his bad ideas like back me 262 for example.

  • @NightmareGbg Well, you certainly didn't want to get in FRONT of one of them in aerial combat. Devastating forward firepower for the day. Hence the later successes as night fighters when retrofitted for nocturnal bomber destruction runs.

  • Flying coffins the 110's. Slow and cumbersome to fly. Especially later in the war.

  • @TheRealSlipperman Actually they wernt that bad, they had their uses. But they used the wrong tactics. In the defence of the reich as a nightfighter it was very effective at times.

  • greatest airforce of all time

  • I-16, an I-153.... IL-2 single-seater.... rare footage indeed.

  • machasos son estos cabrones apagar sus vidas con la maxima intuicion humana no solo por defender su patria si no por la vida que emana en la sangre mis respetos a los combatientes de la segunda guerra mundial

  • They had the best pilots in WW1 and WW2.

  • Nothing like good tuba music to make slaughter so enjoyable..

  • P-51 MUSTANG, DO YOU REMEMBER

  • Our time will come again and soon

  • Fantástico documento! Mas, convenhamos, põe covardia nisso!.. :O

  • Me-110 suffered heavily as a front line fighter over Britain in 1940 because it was unsuited for the role. As a night fighter and bomber interceptor it was more of a success.

  • nice footage, check out our channel !

  • Truly one of the greatest and most powerful air force of all time

  • if im hitler I will destroy Russia not UK...in the war in europe it was the russian who won the war..not usa or uk...

  • Killer Music

  • they got the hammering they deserved.

  • even though luftwaffe was immobilised they had the highest kills in ww2

  • @codename47ist of course they had the highest kills! Its well known their numbers were one the highest padded, and 2 they did not rotate pilots like the allies. they fought to the death, or the end of the war. the germans did not have the numbers to rotate out over x number of months, so the good ones were REALLY good.

  • to zaui

whey german lufwaffa losses were so high during the battle of britain. i dont know why

people are so pro german when they lost a war they should have won why? if they are so good how and why did they lose?

  • @tomato6999

Because there are many factors that play into why they lost, it's not all just black and white.

  • @tomato6999 Theres a number of reasons why they lost, lack of fuel,Göring was an idoit that missmanaged the Luftwaffe, they faced large airforces on three fronts and the german aircraft producers didnt make the planes the Luftwaffe needed but rather they aricraft they liked (Messerschmitt was particulary bad at that).

  • send kids into war, before they know what war means

  • So basically with all the bickering comments back and forth aside...I just want to say...great footage!

  • The luftwaffe may have been on the wrong side, but no one can deny their bravery.Taking on England Russia and the U.S.A and only stopping when they ran out of oil.

  • sorry the german airforce stopped when they ran into the raf the spit was a fantastic aeroplane and the germans even with the 190 was just not good enough dont take my word for it speak to some old pilots and read the history of the aircraft

  • The RAF done well to hold the luftwaffa back long enough for hitler to worry about his oil. Hence the invasion of russia and N.Africa. Britain got its oil from its empire.

  • Im pretty sure they could've made it sooner o later, counting their size, training etc they were much more in favor for a victory than the british.

Especially if they'd manage to land troops.

  • @jrobertsoneff ..,keep sniffing buttcracks assclown. The luftwaffe was 'cockblocked' by the RAF during the Battle of Britain in 1940' without Russia or USA or running out of oil.

  • @fluffy1931 A lot of silly names but no numbers ,give me some numbers?

  • @jrobertsoneff what numbers dude, Germany lost the Battle of Britain - the luftwaffe versus RAF in 1940' Russia was military alliance with Nazi Germany & Britain was not in any military alliance after fall of France.

The US did not enter WW2 until Dec.1941'.

    gtfoh

  • @fluffy1931 Britain was allied with Poland, France, Russia and America well before WW2 started. Also, America was fighting Germany long before Roosevelt formally declared war. American destroyers were attacking German shipping in 1940. Germany didn't lose the Battle of Britain, Hitler was trying to find a peace with Britain so he allowed the British to evacuate Dunkirk for the same reason. Churchill admitted that Britain entered the war on her own free will, that Germany was NEVER a threat.

  • @DeutscheRitter1 No. Britain was in a military alliance with France, Poland assclown.

In 1939' Nazi Germany & Russia entered into a military alliance called Molotov-Ribbentropp-Pact. Do the math.

Nazi Germany & Russia invaded Poland together in 1939'.

No. Britain and America were not in a military alliance prior to Dec. 11,1941' when Nazi Germany unilaterally declared war on America.

Britain recieved lend-lease aid and paid cash for military asistance.

No. Germany lost the Battle of Britain.

  • @jrobertsoneff that has nothing to do with bravery, they had no choice.

  • patton was murdered? i need to be let in on this

  • Read some excerpts from Pattons diary on the Rense web site.

General Patton was very outspoken and had misgivings over the outcome of the war and the reasons it was fought.

He also made some very politically incorrect comments regarding the pampered princes of persecution over which this war was fought.

His comments earned him a lot of enemies among the ruling elite.

Officially his death was an accident, although the circumstances were suspicious.

  • yes thats a fact. he got wise to wjat was the great betrayal

  • Look up Douglas Bazata and the book Target Patton. Eisenhower had plenty of chances to destroy the German Army in the West and let them escape. The first was the Falaise Pocket, then the Battle of the Bulge, where he pushed the bulge back slowly instead of attacking the flanks and cutting off two entire panzer armies and opening a huge gap in the German lines.

  • Why don't you google (Kaganovich and Yagoda) and learn some history before you go calling the Germans barbarians.

You must think General Patton is a Nazi.

  • Are you including admiral Nimitze , Admiral Mountbatton General EisenhowerThe royal family to name just a few people of German descent.

  • prince phillip the Queen'

  • Quotes from Patton:

"Actually, the Germans are the only decent people left in Europe. it's a choice between them and the Russians. I prefer the Germans." "What we are doing is to destroy the only semi-modern state in Europe, so that Russia can swallow the whole."

"There is a very apparent Semitic influence in the press. They are trying to do two things: first, implement communism, and second, see that all businessmen of German ancestry and non-Jewish antecedents are thrown out of their jobs.

  • Comment removed

  • There's an interesting read on the Rense web site featuring quotes out of General Patton's diary.

Before Patton was murdered he wrote some profound and provocative statements about the real reasons this war was fought..

  • The US supported international bulshevism and sided with murderous White hating mongolian communists.

The Germans were outnumbered 10 to 1 fighting a war on two fronts. Their superior technology and weaponry were no match for the numerically superior forces of international bulshevism.

Now the victorious New World Order rat bulsheviks infest all Western nations and are eating away and destroying the culture and economies of nations.

Future generations may wind up speaking Ebonics.

  • It was German that started the war by invading Poland and the Luftwaffe bombed Polish cities killing thousands of civilians. On 25 September 1939 Luftwaffe flew 1,150 sorties dropping 560 tons of high explosives and 72 tons of incendiaries over Warsaw killing more than 40,000 civilians. They bombed Rotterdam killing over 1000 civilians. Luftwaffe bombed London, Southampton, Brighton, Birmingham and Bristol, killing more than 22,000 civilians in three months. Nothing to be proud of.

  • Comment removed

  • you call me a Nazi ugh! typical..

  • Racist- too.

  • Comment removed

  • But it was Luftwaffe who started to attack non-military targets - Warsaw, Rotterdam, Coventry.

  • Comment removed

  • The RAF und the USAAF attacked civilans, too. Much harder then the Luftwaffe think about Dresden, Hamburg, Cologne and some other Cities.

  • yes pretty horrific.but takin no sides japan too..we are all the same...and today.

  • @starsunlocked Thank you for saying that, when I was in Germany many years ago we wanted to go to Dresden however we were told not too since we spoke english.

  • @christl301 And how many years ago was that? 50, 60?

  • @080TIGER080 It was 1991 when I was cycling around East Germany and meet up with some locals who had moved from Dresden to Bermburg and they said the destruction of Dresden was still very fresh in the hearts of most Germans.

  • @christl301 Still, I don't think you would be in any real danger going there...

  • @080TIGER080 I agree there wouldn't be a case of danger however there wouldn't be many open arms.

  • @starsunlocked Okay, as if the Germans didn't

Think about, Manchester, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Nottingham, Brighton, Eastbourne, Sunderland and Southampton

    And not to forget London...

  • @080TIGER080 I know. no one can argue that "his" nation did not killed any civilians. Think about Dresden, Cologne and so on. We bombed GB and Americans, Brits, Russia bombed our Cities. Every Nation did Warcrimes. Bombed Cities, killed civilians, raped and lootet villages and cities. Not the Germans ind Britain, but in east europe. We send you Ju-88, He-111, V1 and V2, you sendet thousands and uponthousands of bombers. We must not forget the dismay of the ww2 and all other wars in the world.

  • @starsunlocked Off course, both sides did horrible things. No point in denying that. It's just that your comment was pointing its finger only at the RAF/USAAF. But I guess I misunderstood you :).

  • @080TIGER080 Like you said:"both sides did horrible things." I wont defend any Nation.

  • @starsunlocked

Exactly, Hitler didn't want to attack civilians and was only forced to when German cities were being blasted to bits under the orders of Churchill.

  • @starsunlocked ...,total 'bs' dude.

As far as Dresden being a militarily insignificant industrial centre? An official 1942 guide described the German city as "one of the foremost industrial locations of the Reich" and in 1944, the German Army High Command's Weapons Office listed 127 medium-to-large factories and workshops which supplied the army with materiel.

Among these were a poison gas factory (Chemische Fabric Goye and Company); the great Zeiss Ikon A.G.

  • @fluffy1931 The germans never saw it as a battlle, but if you want to talk battles the luftwaffa won the battle of france on neutral territary.

  • @jrobertsoneff the germans DID see it as a battle

  • @Lotus2102 The brits were right to pull back from france. But hitler waswrong to pull back from britain .But tyhere is a fine line between bravery and madness. And good job we had enough brave men to do the right thing.

  • @jrobertsoneff How was hitler to know that USA would send help, and later invade Europe?

as far as Hitler knew, UK was beaten, and had no ressources to fight back.

  • @fluffy1931 are you calling it BS that the allies used terror bombing against german cities?

If you do, you must be 14 or so, and know nothing about WW2.

  • @Lotus2102 read my post again. Post-war discussion, popular legends, historical revisionism aside, Dresden was Germany's seventh-largest city

The US Air Force Historical Division report classified until Dec 1978. This said that there were 110 factories and 50,000 workers in the city supporting the German war effort at the time of the raid.According to the report, there were aircraft components factories; a poison gas factory (Chemische Fabrik Goye and Company etc.,...

    pls gtfoh assclown

  • @fluffy1931 so....assclown, since you are so happy about wiki quotes, here is one for you, by Churchill: It seems to me that the moment has come when the question of bombing of German cities simply for the sake of increasing the terror, though under other pretexts, should be reviewed. Otherwise we shall come into control of an utterly ruined land…

    Go see the rest yourself.

Pls. get your facts straight my 14 year old assclown. The allies did use terror bombing...

  • @Lotus2102 so...assclown, since when did Churchill enter into the USAAF chain of command, dumbfuck?

Both the RAF& USAAF bombed Dresden & Germany.

If you would like to argue about the ruined land...argue with germanys conduct towards it's own civilians during the last months of the war ,..

page 258, SPEER the final verdict author joachim fest

"if the war was lost the German nation would be lost also, and that no consideration should be given to it's "most rudimentary survival." adolf hitler

  • @fluffy1931 you are really stupid.

Lets just make this really short, so you can understand it, the allies used terror bombing in an attempt to break civilian morale, in hope it would end the war.

Discussing specific bombing raids seems ineffecient with someone like you.

The germans were evil, but that does not make it right that the allies were evil (sometimes) too.

    And no, im not german.

  • @Lotus2102 you are a assclown.

Let just make this really short, you say the allies used terror bombing.

no sources, no facts just your opinion.

being a assclown doesn't mean your german.

  • @fluffy1931 i pity you

  • @Lotus2102 ..,so throw pity party assclown.

  • @starsunlocked It was the Luftwaffe that started deliberate bombing of the civilian population. The RAF and later USAAF only did to Germany what the Luftwaffe did to Coventry, Guernica, Warsaw etc. Be proud of Bomber command, they flew night after night with a chance of being shot down of 1 in 25 for every trip they flew. Would you have the stomach to do that?

  • The Luftwaffe became infamous mostly for targeting civilians. The Messerschmitt Bf 110 had some success in the early campaigns against the obsolete Polish planes, but it shown lack of agility in the air against the British fighters during the Battle of Britain, when some Bf 110 equipped units were withdrawn from the battle after very heavy losses and redeployed as night fighters.

  • nice video.

  • The Luftwafe was pure glory!A shame Germany lost...the world would have been a much better place.

  • First of all ZLNull, learn to spell Luftwaffe!!

And there my be one or two people who, unlike you, were on the receiving end of their "pure glory" and may disagree with you!

Thankfully, my nation and our friends, kicked there arse out of our air space and saved us from their "future civilisation"!

  • Just be sure to spell "civilization" correctly too. LOL.

Kudos for the comment though, the Nazis were really, really bad and should have been knocked out of Germany much sooner.

  • Thanks for your agreement PotatoGunsRule, BUT you really must stop using Zees in English spelling! Pleez!!

  • Buddy, you reallyi had me laughing out loud there! Have a nice day man, I'm off to get the oil changed and car inspected.

  • sardosfish you're a fucking moron.

Germany took on the USA, Russia, Britain, France and basically the rest of Europe, all at the same time.

There are no greater warriors than the Germans you complete and full blown idiot!!!

  • i admit they were great warriors but the second waorld war they were ready for war way ahead of any one else since they had been arming themselves for years before war broke out.... they were prepared before anyone else was a big reason hitler whooped everyones ass.. eventually they got owned because of the fuhrer

  • I love this movie. It sounds like a bavarian guy with a feather hat and long sacks singin, and making the whole thing look like some kind of romantic story. heh

  • I was thinking the same thing !! the reality was less romantic though !

  • The first model kit I built as a kid was that BF110 with the wasp painted on the nose.

  • Revells 1 32 scale i bet

  • Right scale but it was an Airfix kit.

  • Airfix didnt do a 1 32 scale me 110

revell did. through....unless its a 1.72 scale airfix kit i did 3 of them.

    tj

  • Maybe it was a Revell kit, it was over 30 years ago so maybe the memory is gettin a bit fuzzy! I know I did a Revell 109G kit, I think that was 1:32 as well.

  • yeh there's one on ebay seen 1982 made

i did heinz shafners 1.32 scale kit in 1974

  • Damn!!!!......I should have been a Flyboy in the Airforce instead of a Radio Operator in the Army!!!

  • Very nice song and fascinating film!

  • Ta Quali

  • Das lied werd ich immer hören wenn ich il-2 sturmovik birds of prey spiel

  • I tell you one thing - I would not want to fight in a '110. Not by day, not by night - certainly not with those Mosquitos around

  • Mens in plane of ww2 are heroes and all soldiers of ww2

  • Thanks for such a rare piece of film:):):)

  • in russia, german flyier fight against old craft or transport plane....or sturmovic, armored but slow.....infact pilots in russia have a lot of victories(hartmann and company).in africa or Europe change music....marseille,lemke,galland,Barkhorn etc but germans pilots were top.

  • Sehr schöner Flieger, nur nicht wendig genug

  • Deutschpilot, my great respects for Major Walter Nowotny, KCOIC with oak leaves, swords and diamonds holder, with 258 confirm kills!.

  • yes, he won several medals

  • Not confirmed at all. Pilots in the Second World War were guilty of massive overclaiming. When discussing how many aircraft a pilot shot down, it is always "he claimed", or was "credited with" X amount shot down.

  • The Germans' kill counts were supposed to be pretty accurate.

Let me put it this way. I'd rather have been in a German plane than a Russian one right up to the end of the war. Never mind during the Kindermord. Christ, even the Finns managed to massacre them on the ground and in the air and they didn't have much but antique Fokkers.

  • The Finns lost the war- and they were equipped with all sorts, including 109s. And loss ratios of German-Soviet aircraft went from 21:1 in the German favour (1941) to only 2:1 in 1944-45. I'd rather be on the side with the most shit. Its "stuff" and sound strategy-operations (Soviet deep operations) that win wars, not flash, good at tactics Germans, who are shit at operations and strategy.

  • Of course the Finns lost, attrition'll do that. A loss ratio of 2:1 when the enemy is suffering total strategic extinction is pitiful.

  • "strategic exhaustion" - show of ignorance. The Luftwaffe had more aircraft and aircews that at any other time in the last two years of the war.

  • Is that so? Were most of these combat-ready, not grounded through lack of fuel etc?

Not that it matters, 2:1 is still an appalling record in the circumstances, and even if the Luftwaffe did reach maximum size in the final years of the war the Allies were outbuilding them by a staggering margin.

  • No they were not. German production reached its height in 1944, matching the production of the americans. And don't forget, losses count POWs. The Allies were, mostly, fighting over enemy territory, were a downed airmen is lost regardless of whether he survives. The Germans did not have that problem.

  • Wikipedia seems to agree with every other source I've seen that the Americans were outbuilding the Germans by a margin of roughly 3 to 1 at that date.

There's also that the Germans were fighting other countries besides the USA in '44.

  • Oh jeez! I don't think I need to tell you that wikipedia aint' the most reliable source.

And you are right: the USSR's production on top of that would have more than tipped the balance. But if I am going to be really objective here, I could say we are both missing the point - air power's impact was limited by this date in the war to the operational and tactical levels. Strategic targets had been dismantled by the Germans and moved underground or spread out making it difficult to hit targets.

  • I know Wikipedia's shortcomings only too well. But in this case it seems well sourced and listed in intricate detail. Moreover I have seen similar figures in print.

'Underground factories' housed a small fraction of Germany's industry, usually the ultra-skilled stuff they couldn't afford to lose. Such disruptive and labour-intensive projects as those, plus dispersal forced by the threat of bombing, are measures of German resolve, but Allied success.

  • I'm not sure thats accurate. Quite a few were - mostly it was spread out, which is just as difficult to get at.

  • There's a reason industries don't up and move into remote caves in peacetime. If a bombing campaign forces that sort of response, it has succeeded.

For an interesting view of Allied countermeasures google Subterranea Britannica .

  • I didn't say it didn't, and I am not saying bombing did not have an effect. I have Buckley's airpower in total war which is far more academic than the Britannica - with respect.

  • Its not nazi propagand its the history, I recommend you try learn more about the history... maybe u need to be introduced to the books. You kwons nothing about the war that your onw country was envolved. Without american and england suport in material and war machines, the things would be diferent in the estern front. The russian pilots were brave but not trainned enought, to face the germans. The germans killed a lot of russian pilots. A pilot with 50 kills was normal. U relative was lucky!

  • Hehe, its funny when the big unmanouvreable brute tries to roll its wings at the end, you can hardly tell if you are not looking for it.

See how it waddles through the air like a pregnant dug when he tries it at 2m35s :)

  • Great footage. I'm not so sure about the music, but at least it's contemporary and traditonally German and so well done that one can sing along. Thanks.

  • Seit wann hat das JG 4 (Wappen rechts oben) Bf 110 geflogen? Einen Mustang-Killer haben sie gehabt (11 Mustangs, Rekord) auf einer Bf 109.

  • My close reletive was an Luftwaffe ace. Walter Nowotny 258 victories. 253 on the Russian front, 3 on the Eastern front before he was shot while trying to land his plane.

  • Your close relative was a big layer. If only one Nazi ace had 258 victories how come that my grandfather who was a pilot in Red Army finished WWII in Berlin? So your relative a story teller! :)

  • there is a picture of Walter Nowotny in the air and space museum in Washington DC.

    I saw the picture today.

  • as Skipjack said another reason to give up flying...everybody is an expert (and some people cant even read)

  • Very nice bullet tracers :)

  • That guy blastinhg the Russian bi plane looks like Horst Petzschler, 27 victories, shot down by Walter Konantz USAAF, 50 years later found out the lived 3 miles apart in Wichita Kansas!

  • but then again he probably never flew 110s, as someone will point out, got his card here somewhere, says 'Me 109 pilot' and gives his Wichita address and phone number, what a hoot

  • PET DIDNT FLY A BF 110.

    TJ

  • I said that a month ago, but I'll call him and ask him

  • I am informed that I remember this story incorrectly, informed from a good source, his son!

Walter lived in Moussouri and Horst still lives in Wichita.

    Merry Christmas

  • Half the reason I stopped flying after 40 years was from being tired of the old retired boys sitting on the bench at my FBO. Bla,bla bla about airplanes, performance and judging everyones landing. Fact was 98% of the old farts had about 8 to zero hours flying time.

Talk about armchair flying on youtube! Everyone is an expert! lol!!

  • do you have the lyrics of the song??

  • In 1943 The USAAF evaluated the ME-110 and found out it had better performance than the P-38's had, FYI.

  • that is actually strange, because the lightning has a very fast roll rate, and was also faster, the 110 seems to me also a much heavier bird, but the Luftwaffe fighter planes had indeed a better gun platform.

  • No, the p-38L had a top speed of 390MPH,Weights: Empty: 14,100 lb,Operational: 19,500 lb. climb rate: 2770 a min. Messerschmitt Bf 110G Maximum Speed: 388 mph, climb rate 2,960 a min, Empty: 12,350lb's Max Gross: 15,750 lb.the P-38 was much heavier bird.and the 110 had a faster dive speed than the p-38, and could out trun the P-38 at all speed's.

  • Whatever book you are getting that information from...close it and throw it away. The numbers are completely wrong.

Top speed of the P-38L was 416 mph.Top speed of the Me-110G was 342 mph. The rate of climb you posted are wrong too.

  • As a long range escort fighter the 110 was hopelessly outclasses by single engine fighters to the point of when the bombers were attacked they would form luffberry circles to protect themselves. they were just too big and unmanouverable to be an effective fighter. As a night fighter/ bomber destroyer they faired much better.

  • Many are thinking that russian pilots were not skillfull. But that's not quite true. Most of them could handle the aircraft very well. But their problem was that they couldn't use the guns of the aircraft in right well. Their tactic was not the best. That's why they lost airbattles against Finish Air Force by 1:18.

  • yes and all the P 51, P 47 and Spits and Mosicitos only engaged BF 109 and FW 190 ???

And they strafed only armoured military vehicles? Wake up. That war was hell and made deviles out of any soldier on any side. Lets be lucky that it´s over 60 years ago.

  • great video..

  • I guess after a quick look some of the planes attacked include a Polikarpov Po-2 biplane, couple of Sukhoi Su-2, either a Petlyakov Pe-2 or Ilyushin DB-3F (Il-4) and perhaps a couple of I-16s.

  • he got one last shot.Horrido.

  • Well after another look, I think I got many wrong actually , the first biplane appearing is most surely to be an I-153 (no landing gear as opposed to I-15bis and Po-2) ; some LaGG-3 appearing, two Il-2M, possibly a Su-2 and probably a twin-engined Tupolev Sb-2 (althought it can always be an Ilyushin DB-3). These are all early VVS aircraft so footage should be dated around middle of 1942.

  • To hell MONGRELS! Have destroyed more civilians, than all other armies together taken. In any case - Russian planes were better.

  • на 2.25 фашистский отпечаток
