Many advantages in living next to a range and having a thousand acres to go shooting on. I meet cool people that like shooting, and I get to use any gun I want to and not get in trouble, i.e. ar15, underloaded, black powder six shooter, sks, you name it. I just can't let any bullets miss their intended bullet catcher...
Many ranges have their rules for walkon's very strict. Their house.. their rules. Many ranges also are purposefully a bit curt with new shooters they don't know with the express intent of getting you to loose your cool. They want to identify these people quickly so they can send them on their way.
If you want to be able to do combat shooting..become a member of the range shooting club and do it responsibly. If your not willing to do that...then walk on, obey the strict rules and be an adult.
2 seconds at the range I go to. Otherwise, I agree with the old dried up gym teacher comment. That was about 2sec soooo...fuk em and keep shooting. If he throws a fit, tell management you'll take your gun and your money somewhere else. That will straighten them up, especially when you show him the obvious controlled fire string on video. It wasn't unsafe.
My local range has a 2 second per shot rule. Really annoys me. How am I supposed to push myself and strive for greater excellence if I have to wait 2 seconds per shot? I'm already an excellent marksman. I already know I can aim and hit the bull's eye every time ... now I want to know how fast I can shoot and still hit the bull's eye!
His rang his rules don't be such a douche bag. The guy wasn't hurting anything actually he had good control and wasn't screwing off. Maybe if it was a bunch of kids maybe.
this reminds me of my last range experienc, its not much of a range just some hills at our local landfill marked every 100 meters all the way out to 300. its at the local landfill and theres absolutly no rules posted one more time before i tell my story. so i go out there to shoot some cinderblocks with some friends, dickhead tells me to pick up the blocks after i get done shooting, at this point they arent blocks but gravel, so i empty my mag into the next block, flip the bird and leave hahaha
I have a range around my house that lets us fire as fast as we want, the only down side to this place is that they make you buy their overpriced ammo, even if you bring in your own gun.
all ranges have different rules, i dont go to shooting ranges anymore, been swept to many times by loaded guns. the guy shooting was in complete control of his firearm, i didnt see anything wrong.
They do this at alot of public ranges in the "hopes to prevent a round from leaving the range due to going over the burm. I say its a rule that is moronic and stupid, as long as you have control of your weapon and are not being ignorant or unruly then who breaks out a timer for shooting on a range really?
LOL! 3 seconds between shots? How is this place not out of business? Not only does a stupid rule like that not serve any purpose, it actually keeps you from practicing in any sort of beneficial fashion. I'd tell that dumb mumble-mouthed hick of a "range master" to go f**k himself!
3 seconds between shots seem like a dumb rule (to me), but if it's part of the range rules you gotta follow it. Know the range rules and follow them, it's pretty simple. That's all that needs to be said about it.
On a side note: every range that I've been to has a "no rapid fire" rule; intended as a safety measure--they say.
Every range is different. Was it controllable fire, yes. Was anything in that video illegal, no. I can understand not allowing bump fire, especially since many people can't do it with the rifle shouldered where there is actually control. In the end, the range master has the final say. I'd just remember not to take a assault rifle to that range.
Sounds like the range in my area. It's very irritating to shoot with guys sighting in their deer rifles because the yell clear every two or three rounds so they can walk over and look at their targets.
@CrackerTooth000 Putting aside the fact that the range rules are posted, when I tell you to get the fuck off my property, you will get the fuck off my property, or be arrested. If you are dumb enough to swing that rifle around, you will go home in a bag. You are a guest on my property, and you will follow my rules or you will leave, and that is the end of the story. Whine, bitch, moan all you want. All you do is demonstrate what an immature ass you are.
@lasourisaboyante I (partially) agree with Crackertooth. If I am a dedicated member of the range that pays my dues and supports the range, I should have a say in what rules are to be changed or at the very least be informed of the changes being made before the next time I arrive. Then I can make my own informed decision as to whether I wish to remain a member of the range. I would not, however, whine and demand a refund
@OW3NS93 The rules were not changed. It was an established rule. 3 seconds between shots. The rules are posted. When you pay to enter the range, you agree to abide by the rules (in fact, by stepping onto the property, you legally agree to abide by the rules).
If you violate the rules, then it is my privilege as the person running the range to eject you. If you mouth off, then you will be ejected with prejudice.
A range is potentially very dangerous. The rules SHOULD be iron.
@lasourisaboyante If that is the case, then I cannot disagree with you. While I still question the logic of the 3 second rule, if it was a posted and not suddenly changed without the shooter's knowledge, then I have no complaints about it
I'm PRO GUN ALL THE WAY.... If there are no rules posted at the range, And you get hassled... 1. Ask for a refund and simply leave. 2. Blog the incident to warn other gun owners. 3.Go to a PRO GUN shooting range where we are all loved.... And watch that STUPID DUMB range simply go out of business.... Shoot well my friend....
3 seconds between shots? Did I hear that right? At my local range it's 1 second. But then again it's out at Spring Valley and not a very populated area.
The funny part about that 1 second between shots, was meant specifically for ranges in populated areas. Not for properly built indoor ranges, nor at outdoor ranges that lack encroachment issues.
But many you have no clue about the purpose of the rules apply it to all ranges.
only 2 things to blame. 1 building houses near gun ranges. and 2 over populating
gun range gets noise complaints then goes to law suit, then goes to the gun range getting shut down. then where would you go to shoot ur gun legally?, follow the rules so you can atleast shoot the gun. dont ruin it for the rest of us.
@BigAgitator Not an emotional outburst. A frank and blunt summation. Ranges aren't places to be politically correct. Inherently dangerous, and clear, non-sensical, no-holds-barred communication is required.
Don't like my rules, get the fuck out, and don't come back.
It would only get emotional if you didn't follow instructions, followed briefly by your arrest assuming you didn't do anything stupid enough to get shot.
That guy can pound sand up his ass as far as I'm concerned. I HATE being told what to do when I'm shooting. The whole point is to be able to relax when you shoot and enjoy the process like this guy was TRYING to do.
@BigAgitator Then don't shoot at a range that has that rule. Or buy your own property, with plenty of room to shoot however you like. But when you're on someone's property, and you agree to the range rules (every range I've been to has me sign the waiver and rules acknowledgment), you should act like a grown up and follow the rules.
This range is owned by someone. It takes a man to put aside his feelings/opinions and respect another man's rules when he is on his property.
@TheAristotleQ You make a fair point. The guy could have been a little nicer about it. I don't mind following rules but it frustrates me when people are condescending with their discipline. Fair enough?
@BigAgitator As do I. And my range, my rules. Your attitude of "I don't like your rules" is immature at best, and would be met with "GTFO and don't come back."
@lasourisaboyante Your emotional outburst- at a computer screen- isn't exactly noble. Why can we not just agree to disagree. It's okay for our opinions to differ.
@lasourisaboyante If I've already paid my dues or fees or whatever, and then you suddenly decide to make up new range rules in the middle of my time shooting, you can't tell me to GTFO unless you refund my money. We've got a contract; whether it's your range is irrelevant.
the range i go to use to be free for anyone. not u have to have certain types of certification or an annual hunting AND fishing license or u cud get kicked out and fined. auto fire wepons and silencers arent permitted but ppl do it anyway. i guess thats y they made all those rules cuz one of the last times i was there i was sighting in my 270 and my target got obliterated..looked over and there was sum1 using an ak47 with a drum mag and bipod. not to mention all the cross fire that use to happen
1 second at the indoor range and whatever time you want at the outdoor by me :D and no rules on my friends private property! (Besides normal gun safety)
It's 3 seconds at my range as well. I remember when I was a kid though going there with my dad. They only let you load and fire ONE round at a time, then had a few minute break to go check and adjust the targets. SO it was basically one round per 3 minutes.
the reason most indoor and close range outdoor facility's have ''waiting rules'' is so that if there is a ricochet everyone can hear it and duck hahaha but yea pretty pointless when there's anywhere between 10 or 20 people shooting at one time
Problem with ranges is that they have to assume that everyone is a complete moron, so yea, 3 seconds, regardless if you're a pro and in total control of your firearm. Stupid, but it is what it is
My local range hung like 50 signs one week after my buddy and I had a rapid fire shoot... They all read "one second between shots" and "this is not a rapid fire facility" - pretty lame!
Lol. Reload a new 30 rounder and blast that fucker empty, bump fire if you can. Then pack your things up and walk out, givin that guy the finger as you do.
@Antithropocentric No, I don't shoot animals. There's nothing unethical about shooting faster than one round per three seconds. Range masters are great... when they're not just fools on a power trip.
Thats wht i love my range , you just go do whatever you want, shoot whatever you want , as fast as you want, as close as you want, if something happens its on you for being a dumbass.
Ranges suck. They're only good for sighting in a rifle or anything like that. I want to move out of Kalifornia to either Nevada or Arizona so that I can go out into the desert with no problems. No guy on a loud speaker out there on the beautiful open desert planes.
all i heard was gigity gigty im a stupid old bastard, he was controling his weapon what the fucking problem range nazi, thats why i wont shoot at managed ranges, public ranges on wildlife reserves in tennesse dont have attendants and anyone that tries to tell me how 2 shoot gets told 2 fuck of i fire my ak almost as fast as full auto on semi and put every round on paper anyone thats got a problem with it can try and take it from me well see how that goes
there is a gun range in Independence MO called ,Lake city, yes the ammo makers range, and they have way to many rules,on the pistol and rifle range,5 seconds between rounds,so much for practicing your double tap,and every one has about 5 minutes to shoot before sease fire order is given.
Thats why I don't/won't pay dues to a gun range with a safety-putz. I understand the importance of safety, but to have a toughy in some little room barking orders over a speaker cause he "hears" something is BS. Sorry if thats all thats available in your area.
3 seconds before every shot? The guys running this range prolly hate black rifles. Give them one to play with and they'll be bump firing by the days end...
@ScopedPewPew Sometimes that's all we have access to...Hell, the range I go to doesn't even let you load your magazine. "One round at a time ONLY"...very STRICT RULES where I go....real pain in the ass, too. BUT, I also see dumb-ass people at the range every weekend, doing REALLY stupid shit....so, obviously those rules are in place for a reason. Really sux, but, sure beats paying a ton of money every year just to be a member at a gun club. Pros & Cons to everything...
@laney50w Damn that sucks. If you look at my vids, the majority of the ones like all the handguns, AR, VZ, etc are all at a private range that cost $40 a year and you can go whenever you want, no rules as long as you aren't retarded. Or my new one with snow in it, I just found a giant gravel pit in the country and I shoot there
@ScopedPewPew Yeah, it sucks. LOL Handguns are different at the ranges I go to, you can fully load, but not rifles (for some stupid reason) I don't know why??? Sucks, because I mainly shoot my ARs & other rifles. Working on my pistol permit, but, NY is a shit liberal state, and getting a permit is not that easy where I live..And I don't have any access to a lot of property to freely shoot on...so...whatever hehe
@ScopedPewPew And I have seriously looked into a few sporting/gun clubs near where I live, but, yearly dues are ridiculous, plus, you're on a 1yr probation period, they want you to do all kinds of stuff throughout the year, and attend all kinds of club functions....I just wanna shoot, dammit! LOL I work 11hrs a day, and when I have free time I don't want to attend a pig roast and clean up after 80 people! I just want to shoot! hehe
@laney50w You sure there isnt anywhere in the country that you cant just shoot? Honestly I just drive 20 minutes out of the city (Once you hit city limits here its nothing but flat farm land for 100 miles in every direction) and I find a nice gravel pit / hill that's within legal shooting laws and I shoot away hehe
Just because you can shoot that fast does not mean every joe blow can handle it. You would be amazed at the stupid shit people do at the range. There is a reason they have those rules, set the example and dont encourage people to bend the rules.
We have no 3 second rule at our local range. In fact, we have many tactical based shooting competitions using pistols, shotguns and AR type rifles. Heck, many of our scenarios are over within 3 seconds and you may shoot between 7-10 rounds in that time lol...
3 second rule is bullshit depending on your capability. The geezer sounds like he's just another know it all blow hard type trying to throw his weight around and keep everybody under his thumb. If you have money to burn by wasting ammo and you can do it safely, by all means be my guest and have fun. I live in california with the most repressed gun laws and rules around.
he wants to "hear" three seconds before every shot? what an idiot rule...at my range, they say nobody is allowed to shoot faster than their ability to maintain point of aim on the target, but there is no fixed interval of time to wait between shots per se'.
@drs2100 I understand the, "nobody is allowed to shoot faster than their ability to maintain point of aim on the target." You could tell if someone was shooting too fast if they missed the target or shot your own, hehe.
My 'affordable' range near me limits shots to 1-second intervals. I see this rule as an 'old school' rule, but I respect it. I figure if anybody in my brother's (younger) generation started a gun shop they'd allow quick shooting without thinking twice.
As much as I dislike the 3-second rule [for ranges that have that], guests must comply. Let us remember that range rules must always be followed. Not so much for competent and practiced shooters but for the novice, and, most importantly, the careless. Having said that, for those of us in contradiction of the 3-second rule, we should attend a different range.
I do feel that the fellow in the above demonstration handled his firearm responsibly, although his grin at the end belies his competence.
As chairman of the welcoming committee it is my honor to extend a laurel and hearty handshake to our new n_gg_r! Dammit that movie is funny read your comment and about choked I started laughing so hard.
I've spent a lot of time at the range and the two and three second rules are among the most stupid rules. As long as the guy is on the paper what difference does it make. I would much rather have the RSO pay attention to idiots pointing their guns in an unsafe direction, leaving locked and loaded guns on the bench during a cease fire or smoking over an open can of Pyrodex. All of which I have seen ignored in the past.
Many advantages in living next to a range and having a thousand acres to go shooting on. I meet cool people that like shooting, and I get to use any gun I want to and not get in trouble, i.e. ar15, underloaded, black powder six shooter, sks, you name it. This range is owned by someone. It takes a man to put aside his feelings/opinions and respect another man's rules when he is on his property.
TheAristotleQ 2 weeks ago
@TheAristotleQ You make a fair point. The guy could have been a little nicer about it. I don't mind following rules but it frustrates me when people are condescending with their discipline. Fair enough?
BigAgitator 2 weeks ago 2
@BigAgitator Then you can get the fuck off my range and don't come back.
lasourisaboyante 2 weeks ago
@lasourisaboyante I thank you for the kind words. Not to worry though. i have my own range
BigAgitator 2 weeks ago
@BigAgitator As do I. And my range, my rules. Your attitude of "I don't like your rules" is immature at best, and would be met with "GTFO and don't come back."
lasourisaboyante 2 weeks ago
@lasourisaboyante Your emotional outburst- at a computer screen- isn't exactly noble. Why can we not just agree to disagree. It's okay for our opinions to differ.
BigAgitator 2 weeks ago
@lasourisaboyante If I've already paid my dues or fees or whatever, and then you suddenly decide to make up new range rules in the middle of my time shooting, you can't tell me to GTFO unless you refund my money. We've got a contract; whether it's your range is irrelevant.

the range i go to use to be free for anyone. not u have to have certain types of certification or an annual hunting AND fishing license or u cud get kicked out and fined. auto fire wepons and silencers arent permitted but ppl do it anyway. i guess thats y they made all those rules cuz one of the last times i was there i was sighting in my 270 and my target got obliterated..looked over and there was sum1 using an ak47 with a drum mag and bipod. not to mention all the cross fire that use to happen
blahblahblah5377 2 weeks ago
the fuck?! why do you have to wait 3 seconds between every single shot???

jabooper 2 weeks ago
It's 3 seconds at my range as well. I remember when I was a kid though going there with my dad. They only let you load and fire ONE round at a time, then had a few minute break to go check and adjust the targets. SO it was basically one round per 3 minutes.
EviLNox8 2 weeks ago
I would bumpfire, flip off the range master, and go shoot shit inna' woods, like everyone should.
premazek 2 weeks ago 44
thats why i have my own gun range in my pasture behing myself!!!!
weldermatt07 2 weeks ago
the reason most indoor and close range outdoor facility's have ''waiting rules'' is so that if there is a ricochet everyone can hear it and duck hahaha but yea pretty pointless when there's anywhere between 10 or 20 people shooting at one time
hooramarines 2 weeks ago
Ugh...at the nearest range for me it's 4 seconds >:-(
TimTheCrusader 2 weeks ago
Problem with ranges is that they have to assume that everyone is a complete moron, so yea, 3 seconds, regardless if you're a pro and in total control of your firearm. Stupid, but it is what it is
Jaenus80 2 weeks ago
My local range hung like 50 signs one week after my buddy and I had a rapid fire shoot... They all read "one second between shots" and "this is not a rapid fire facility" - pretty lame!

@intoweapons the reasaon they do it in my city is they say the neighbors complain when they hear rapid fire

LifeisGood762 3 weeks ago 2
@LifeisGood762, when shooting in the wild, do you gun down every animal in sight, as many "sportsmen" are prone to? Just guessing.
Them thar rangemasters expect ethical conduct, so steer clear of them by all means.
Antithropocentric 3 weeks ago
@Antithropocentric No, I don't shoot animals. There's nothing unethical about shooting faster than one round per three seconds. Range masters are great... when they're not just fools on a power trip.
LifeisGood762 2 weeks ago
To rangemasters who are dicks, we want free memberships insted of going to a range that has 500000000 rules.

Ranges suck. They're only good for sighting in a rifle or anything like that. I want to move out of Kalifornia to either Nevada or Arizona so that I can go out into the desert with no problems. No guy on a loud speaker out there on the beautiful open desert planes.
TheKATON666 3 weeks ago

all i heard was gigity gigty im a stupid old bastard, he was controling his weapon what the fucking problem range nazi, thats why i wont shoot at managed ranges, public ranges on wildlife reserves in tennesse dont have attendants and anyone that tries to tell me how 2 shoot gets told 2 fuck of i fire my ak almost as fast as full auto on semi and put every round on paper anyone thats got a problem with it can try and take it from me well see how that goes
biggunzcdb 3 weeks ago
there is a gun range in Independence MO called ,Lake city, yes the ammo makers range, and they have way to many rules,on the pistol and rifle range,5 seconds between rounds,so much for practicing your double tap,and every one has about 5 minutes to shoot before sease fire order is given.
wararrows 3 weeks ago
Thats why I don't/won't pay dues to a gun range with a safety-putz. I understand the importance of safety, but to have a toughy in some little room barking orders over a speaker cause he "hears" something is BS. Sorry if thats all thats available in your area.

3 seconds before every shot? The guys running this range prolly hate black rifles. Give them one to play with and they'll be bump firing by the days end...
tadracket 3 weeks ago
Wait why do you americans go to ranges like this with range nazis? I either go into the country or I go to a private range about 5 mins from town.
ScopedPewPew 3 weeks ago
@ScopedPewPew Sometimes that's all we have access to...Hell, the range I go to doesn't even let you load your magazine. "One round at a time ONLY"...very STRICT RULES where I go....real pain in the ass, too. BUT, I also see dumb-ass people at the range every weekend, doing REALLY stupid shit....so, obviously those rules are in place for a reason. Really sux, but, sure beats paying a ton of money every year just to be a member at a gun club. Pros & Cons to everything...
laney50w 3 weeks ago
@laney50w Damn that sucks. If you look at my vids, the majority of the ones like all the handguns, AR, VZ, etc are all at a private range that cost $40 a year and you can go whenever you want, no rules as long as you aren't retarded. Or my new one with snow in it, I just found a giant gravel pit in the country and I shoot there
ScopedPewPew 3 weeks ago
@ScopedPewPew Yeah, it sucks. LOL Handguns are different at the ranges I go to, you can fully load, but not rifles (for some stupid reason) I don't know why??? Sucks, because I mainly shoot my ARs & other rifles. Working on my pistol permit, but, NY is a shit liberal state, and getting a permit is not that easy where I live..And I don't have any access to a lot of property to freely shoot on...so...whatever hehe
laney50w 3 weeks ago
@ScopedPewPew And I have seriously looked into a few sporting/gun clubs near where I live, but, yearly dues are ridiculous, plus, you're on a 1yr probation period, they want you to do all kinds of stuff throughout the year, and attend all kinds of club functions....I just wanna shoot, dammit! LOL I work 11hrs a day, and when I have free time I don't want to attend a pig roast and clean up after 80 people! I just want to shoot! hehe
laney50w 3 weeks ago
@laney50w You sure there isnt anywhere in the country that you cant just shoot? Honestly I just drive 20 minutes out of the city (Once you hit city limits here its nothing but flat farm land for 100 miles in every direction) and I find a nice gravel pit / hill that's within legal shooting laws and I shoot away hehe
ScopedPewPew 3 weeks ago
Just because you can shoot that fast does not mean every joe blow can handle it. You would be amazed at the stupid shit people do at the range. There is a reason they have those rules, set the example and dont encourage people to bend the rules.
TiredOldGamerULX 3 weeks ago
Rules are rules gentlemen. They have em for a reason. If he wants to shoot faster, he can find another range, simple as that really.

Are you too ignorant to understand the meaning of being hypocritical?
tradernorton05 4 weeks ago
We have no 3 second rule at our local range. In fact, we have many tactical based shooting competitions using pistols, shotguns and AR type rifles. Heck, many of our scenarios are over within 3 seconds and you may shoot between 7-10 rounds in that time lol...
jwinn2001 4 weeks ago
3 second rule is bullshit depending on your capability. The geezer sounds like he's just another know it all blow hard type trying to throw his weight around and keep everybody under his thumb. If you have money to burn by wasting ammo and you can do it safely, by all means be my guest and have fun. I live in california with the most repressed gun laws and rules around.
jwinn2001 4 weeks ago
he wants to "hear" three seconds before every shot? what an idiot rule...at my range, they say nobody is allowed to shoot faster than their ability to maintain point of aim on the target, but there is no fixed interval of time to wait between shots per se'.
drs2100 4 weeks ago
@drs2100 I understand the, "nobody is allowed to shoot faster than their ability to maintain point of aim on the target." You could tell if someone was shooting too fast if they missed the target or shot your own, hehe.
My 'affordable' range near me limits shots to 1-second intervals. I see this rule as an 'old school' rule, but I respect it. I figure if anybody in my brother's (younger) generation started a gun shop they'd allow quick shooting without thinking twice.
ntrudr800 4 weeks ago
That limp-dick guy ( the voice at the end ) wanted 3 seconds between shots.
I once belonged to an "Old-Timer" gun club which had similar No Rapid-fire rules that were imposed one year.
Those silly rules lasted less than 6 months. The membership pulled together, protested, canceled memberships until the rule was abolished.
angusnra 4 weeks ago
As an afterthought: what a really nice rifle.
JohnnyLackland 4 weeks ago
As much as I dislike the 3-second rule [for ranges that have that], guests must comply. Let us remember that range rules must always be followed. Not so much for competent and practiced shooters but for the novice, and, most importantly, the careless. Having said that, for those of us in contradiction of the 3-second rule, we should attend a different range.
I do feel that the fellow in the above demonstration handled his firearm responsibly, although his grin at the end belies his competence.
