@429mas Yeah, Flomasters sound pretty good. Except they're cheap and nearly every Mustang on the planet has them. I'll take the Borla Stingers for a more unique sound. I prefer it anyway.

Flowmaster is just a chambered muffler that has special piping on the inside of the muffler. Borla brings brings out the deep roar of the engine. Not to mention it's really loud.

To take it a step further though, Flowmaster is nothing but welded metal with chambered passages. Borla builds a more straightened and free-flowing design but the "deep" sound you here is because of the packing they stuff inside of them (pretty sure it's stainless though and not the junk fiberglass). Two different designs and two different sounds - one aggressive and one throaty sounding.

i love cobras! i just think that borlas, particularly the stingers... sort of "hide" the sound of the engine too much, i mean obviously they are mufflers, but compared to a similar model from Flowmaster, they just make cars sound like a suburban with a cheap exhaust, way too generic. this is why i went with flowmaster, it gave my engine a more lively, raspy sound, especially at idle... not a deep generic rumble.

The regular Borlas and the Stingers are the same thing in that they both use straight-through mufflers. The only difference is that the regular Borla's have more packing around the straight-through perforated tubing, so it's quieter.

The only other Cobra to have a 4V 5.4L DOHC besides the new one is a 2000 Cobra R. I think they only made around 300 of them. They look quite different from the ones we are used to seeing around.

the difference between a GT and Cobra is not just a supercharger, there are many other parts through out the vehicle that were upgraded in a Cobra when compared to a GT

No its not. A GT has a 2V motor while the Cobra has a 4V with forged internals. Thats why they can take monster amounts of boost on the stock block.
