that huge blue hold must cost like a thousand dollars! That is freaking huge, i have never seen a hold that large.

Its not a hold, its a volume ya spanner!:) Its a large screw on feature that gives the wall more area and more options for route setting. But yeah, they can be pretty expensive.

He's not trying to catch her, he's there to stop her landing off the matted area if she cuts loose. There's little close spotting in the comps because of the risk of hitting the spotter during a swing and voiding the ascent.
