Well, I guess this app will be never used by "agree" from side of cellphone companies. In other case this application will give really hard-to-discuss statistics on cases-per-usage-of-cellphone of any mulfunction or (I wish it would not happen) even really hard health problems.
People sho sell communications will make everything to delay of full reveal of invisible dangers. Dont forget - they act in law! They do nothing criminal at all!
.The word "radiation" here is being used to scare people into parting with their money for an App which is just showing a circular animation in reverse of the number of bars of reception. Cellphones are receivers and transmitters. The "radiation" is the transmit signal. Cellphones automatically control how much transmit power to use based on the receive signal strength. 5 bars receive=low transmit power. 1 bar receive=high transmit power. All cellphones do this to save battery power.
I see a lawsuit in this company's future. It is extremely unclear to me how a piece of software can measure radiation. It is a shame how this company is misleading and scaring the public into believing this actually can detect levels of radiation. There are two main types of devices that can detect radiation/radiation exposure. sodium iodide scintillation counters & Geiger-Müller counters. This is false advertising/trickery at best. No wonder why they were booted from the iphone app store!
I agree - we can't have Apple banning apps on the basis that they are shit, pointless and don't work now can we? We would end up with nothing in there.
More shit Apps in the App store now! The people have spoken
No matter how many posts the fanbois of this absurd piece of rubbish make, the fact remains that it is a worthless gimmick masquerading as offering some sort of faux socio-scientific benefit to the gullible.
There is absolutely no scientific reason why this application should exist., it merely times your exposure to a known hazard, you are better off using the free stopwatch
Shame, the company shill who contacted me seems to be unaware of the difference between ionising and electromagnetic radiation, and calims that this application actually merasures phyisical doseage.
PS: To the company shill who wrote telling me that the application "measured" electromagnetic radiation, not ionising, I say "total rubbish". It measures nothing, it approximates subjectively using software. Radiation at 1.8-2.0GHs & energy above 1216Kj/Mol effects water molecules, of which living tissue is comprised (roughly 78%). Ionising radiation (note correct spelling) is the greater danger to humans, not electomagnetic. Enjoy the education, get your facts right
@criticalbastard You seem to mis-understand the health effects of electromagnetic fields quite well. You said "Absortion of ionising radiation is not something that can be readily metered" which means that you think this app is attempting to meter ionizing radiation.... which it isn't. Simples, no? Also, I'm not a shill, but maybe you are?
As a radio design engineer with a post grad diploma in radiology, I can say with absolute conviction that this "application" is a blatant LOAD OF OLD TOSH.
Absortion of ionising radiation is not something that can be readily metered, save post mortem, hence one of the reasons why scientists on all sides of the fence (biomedical, physics, medicial) have all been unable to agree. Best practice says a) keep use minimal,b) keep away from body when not in use. Don't waste your money - snake oil
While the jury’s still out on health impact of mobile phone usage, many health organizations (eg EWG, FDA) recommend taking precautionary measure to limit exposure to mobile radiation. tawkon is a solution to help implement these measures without disturbing normal phone usage. You can read about the technology behind tawkon by visiting our detailed website to understand the features behind this practical solution to mobile phone radiation.
@mayacaspi3 The jury is NOT "still out" on the health effects of mobile phone usage. Not a single study has ever shown negative effects relating to cell phone radio waves (I refuse to use the word "radiation" and spread FUD like you guys). Your title is "Tawkon Marketing" and obviously not "Tawkon Scientist". Science is peer reviewed, marketing is mostly bullshit.
Fact is it doesn't matter what the app is, apple sucks for taking it down. Who are these people that let a company decide what software you can have on YOUR device?
I would never buy junk from apple and this is one big reason why. Go with pc and google at least then you can decide for yourself.
Apple thinks that they get to decide what you read, watch, and listen to.
@DrSmokeTrees It's Apple's app store. They can sell or refuse to sell whatever they want. If you want a phone that isn't locked down, don't buy Apple.
Apple won't approve this application because it is a scam. Not a single study has ever shown negative effects caused by cell phone "radiation". I'm not a huge fan of Apple's censorship of their app store (remember, it is *their* app store) but in this case, Apple is correct. Keeping Tawkon off of iPhones will save ignorant people a lot of money and prevent them from being scammed from ignorance/dishonest developers.
I can't think of any reason that Apple wouldn't give consumers the information that we need to make informed cellphone use decisions. I'm all for this tawkon!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Apple should continue to show its leadership by adopting this must have technology which will soon become de-facto on additional platforms (already on Blackberry) - people need the right to chooose and apple as an innovator and provider of cutting edge user experiences should drive this kind of beneficial App and take a proactive stance...

I don't want to use something like this because I don't believe it harms me.
But i do agree that people should be allowed to use it if they choose to.
So Apple, think it over. Let your customers choose.
