Just use electric gel. He gets paralysed while you fire. The fight ends in less than one minute and you don't get a scratch in you. Just did that now and finished the game for the first time. What an easy boss...

although i fought him on Normal diff, i found fontaine extremely easy, all I used was the Xbow (trap bolts) and Target Dummy/Winters Blast2, didnt even worry about the adds just kept focusing on him, might try for hard now haha

If you want an easy win, the first two forms can be killed REALLY easily with the electric gel from the chemical launcher. Paralyzation and fast damage... third form is immune, but then, that's why grenades exist.

dude, crossbow = strongest weapon in the game. in all of his three stages, fontanine has a really predictable start/stop movement pattern, making the crossbow pretty optimal for fighting him despite its slow speed
