  • I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but you should check local laws. In most (possibly all) states and jurisdictions it is unlawful to create a hidden compartment or false floor in vehicles for street use. Thanks to drug runners. Cool just the same. Same kinda stuff we used to make to conseal stereo equipment.

  • @darter1075 I'm sure that's something the officer is going to use judgment one though. I mean, if he pulls over a lady with a clean record, somehow notices it, and only finds bottled water and first aid gear, I don't see it as a problem. Especially when the person explains *why* it's there.

Good point nonetheless; always good to review your local laws. I personally wouldn't let them deter me with this.

  • Great videos!

  • I would use truck only if it has woodgas system

  • R U serious? How much miles could you go without refuel? I rather take horse or bicycle. Because If disaster strikes I think you will end in traffic jam... Best way of transportation in disaster situation is devices without fuel. I think the fastest would be gliders ( para, delta, ultralight) If day is good you could travel up to 200Miler/hour (ultralight superglider) without any fuel. But you have to start from some hill (special location). Then comes horses and then bycicles.

  • I'm doing this to my car today! thank you for the video!!!

  • @xchrisforbushx: You're welcome, my friend! Let me know how your project turns out. Many blessings --GM

  • Love it! Thanks for posting!!!

  • @hinano316: My pleasure, brother. Many blessings --GM

  • I never would've thought of this. Thanks for sharing.

  • hey great project, i just finished mine a couple days ago, sadly i couldn't find my electric saw blades so i had to use a hacksaw to do it all by hand, all in one session, i ended up quiet sore, but is totally worth it the room i got in the trunk is awesome, now i can carry my veterinary gear and have room for say groceries and stuff :D

  • @finmithndil: Awesome! You've made my day, and I'm glad to be of some help --GM

  • Bravo

  • those two trucks that were shown first, were they toyota tundra right?? if so what best truck would you pick for a cheap tough and good mpg would you pick

  • Damn that almost sounds like a business to get into.?Really someone calls you and they have a blank car and year and you have that on record and all they have to do is glue it in space.

  • Nice mod to break up the storage in the trunk.. looks really sharp. The only question is why do you need to break it up like that? I mean, trunk space is trunk space, not sure why you need to have a false floor to store things under.

  • @silvermediastudio: Good question: I separated from the upper from the bottom portion of the trunk so we could transport everyday items (grocery bags, boxes from work, etc.) without disturbing our emergency gear underneath. Many blessings --GM

  • @AnalyticalSurvival Right on. Quality tutorial and good craftsmanship. Hope to see more of this from others.

  • That was really freaking smart, thanks for Sharun

  • @THETRUECRASHMONKEY: Thanks, brother! I'm glad to be of some help --GM

  • I was an Infantry Scout in the military, my oldest brother was a Ranger, we both teach martial arts now and I'm into firearms. I'm contantly trying to learn more especially now that the world is turning and myI have a wife and child to care for... If you don't mind me asking, what part of the country do you live in and where would you retreat to in case of SHTF ?

  • @RECONDO101st : See my video entitled "Networking and Organizational Schemas." Many blessings, and thanks for serving! --GM

  • I didn't read all 7 pages of comments, so forgive me if this is a repost... but if you ever need to do this again, just visit your local custom car audio shop. They will have all the automotive grade carpeting you could want for a project like this. Then you can keep the stock carpet, for when/if you need to return to stock config.

  • @audioguru76: Thanks for your suggestion! Will keep in mind. Many blessings --GM

  • Nice vid. Is that your Tacoma in the beginning? Have you ever thought of getting a bull nose? What happens if there're abandoned cars on the road that you need to move during an emergency. Just something to think about.

  • Awesome video,

Thank you and keep it up.

  • Will you be doing any more videos in the near future?

  • @ArizonaArmsGuy: Yes, I am gearing up for another series of videos this summer. Stay tuned and thanks for your sustained patience --GM

  • Hey there. Thanks for the video and suggestions, I believe it will aid greatly in the transformation of my bug out vehicle.

  • @marksmanman96: It's my pleasure to of help, my friend! Let me know how your project proceeds and best of luck --GM

  • how tall were the 2x4 blocks that you used for your wife's car? While cars vary, what would you recommend the block size be for a subcompact, sedan, small suv (honda cr-v, toyota rav-4, etc.) ?

  • @HwaRang777: As per the video's suggestion, the 2x4 blocks were 5". You can certainly vary this depending on the overhead height you desire. Good luck, brother, and many blessings --GM

  • Hi again...Nice work. Back to your BOV, have you ever consider the vehicle will ran out of fuel? I never agree to bug out on a vehicle when Disaster strikes....well not in the city for sure but in the outback, a vehicle might be ideal but then comes to the fuel problem again. How long can you go with your vehicle. I still feel the bicycle is the most ideal BOV, slow but sure as hell it can squeeze thru traffic. Just my POV. Cheers

  • I am doing a very unique life living out of a van an tading Stock living on superfoods an laughing at the world. You learn some of my way an benefits. On my channel look for yourself.

  • THE BEST KIND OF CAR FOR A BUG OUT CAR IS ONE THAT ONCE YOU GET IT UP TO 88 MPH, YOU CAN GET BACK TO 1985.

  • nice job...i did custom car stereo (professionally for 12 yrs there are some easier techniques you could have used to make this set up and even compartmentalize the false floor,

very good video though...and a great way for for someone to diy it...keep up the good work !

  • @SurvivingSTL a false floor...great stuff and not hard to do if you know your way around basic woodworking

  • @SurvivingSTL : Interesting! Thanks for sharing. Many blessings, brother! --GM

  • Thank you for your reply GM, may your vehicle only need to be used for fun weekends in the country all the very best, Chas.

  • You folks should avoid reading Revelations and get out more, enjoy a sunny day, take your shoes off when it's warm and walk around on the grass barefoot, when having a cup of coffee or tea just look at the clouds with a clear mind, this end of the world thinking will drive you nuts, all the best.

  • @ChasJs: Thanks for your insightful comment. Spontaneous blissfulness must be balanced with a keen appreciation for nature's fury. That same beautiful nature can turn hostile in a blink of an eye. Thus, there is a deep-seated, long-lasting, and joyful reassurance that develops ONLY when one has prepared properly for life's inevitable calamities. Food for thought, my brother; many blessings --GM

  • @AnalyticalSurvival Very well said! I applaud you sir. I cant beleive I just found your channel! Great channel BTW! Preparing for survival is or should be instinctive! Preparing for death should also follow suit....Thanks and God Bless!

  • @ChasJs I agree with you, but it dose NOT hurt to be prepared, its better to have it and not use it then need it and NOT have it..... Greetings from Mexico.

  • Thank you for the idea :) Been thinking about this.

Thumbs up on the Shoe Goo, we used that for making Ghillie Suits and it works AWESOME.

  • Elegant simple effective! VERY NICE.

  • This is excellent.

  • My wife also didnt wanted to give up the room in the trunk :) lol.

So i am definetly going to make such a compartment in my car.

  • @TheOfficialruben: Awesome! Glad to be of some help, brother! Many blessings --GM

  • really... people are actually making bug-out vehicles in the US.. WOW, i never knew that.

  • these are a big help, well made.

thank you for your insight i would never have thought about half these things "medical and dental stuff "

we can't stock up on fire arms in scotland but i have a bow and crossbow.

  • Huge problem! In the event of a crisis, you will not be able to get out of town. I have recently found out that counties and states have plans to block all roads in and out. Only people with addresses beyond the county or state line will get through the road blocks. Police and military aircraft will keep off road vehicles in check also. What really scares me is the fact that they have these plans in place now. That tells me they expect people to run for the hills. I'm getting out now.

  • @mobiltec

    Your proof of this is?

  • I like your truck(s), is yours the silver one?

By the way, excellent video. Really creative concept...

  • awesome =

    video

    idea

    instructions.

glad i found this, and will be back!

  • Your videos should be winning awards on YT. Not only for the obvious subject presentations but for the mechanices, ie. clear, well thought out and photograped superbly. Thanks for the work on helping the rest of us.

  • Would it have been possible to put the hinges down and then the carpet?

  • @hkchris1: No doubt. But having the hinges out on top was our preference. Having had this on our vehicle for a while now, we find that we are often going in and out of this compartment in order to access or replace items. While the carpet-on-top approach would be advantageous as far as concealment goes, it would still not be very practical for our everyday needs. Hope this helps! Many blessings, brother --GM

  • @AnalyticalSurvival I thought the same as hkchris but in this day and age if you were to be pulled over a too subdued hidden compartment is suspect, I'm going to convert our families 95 accord maybe this weekend. GOod vid

  • Love it. Very well conceived, and nicely presented in video.

If this is how you decked out your wife's sedan, I can't wait to see how you set up your personal vehicle!

  • wow!i just starting thinking about being prepared when shtf and i never thought of anything like that.as a single mom of 4 at diff ages its hard to remember all the things and prepared the things they need for their ages andi just started getting myself into that mind set and i've talked to my kids and my only son who is 3 love the idea of getting dirty cause we are going to do community involvement soon and play out some what ifs like quakes fires shtf. women be prepared.mamas be prepared.tnx!

  • Wat about a small22rifle

  • @FOWLER167: Interesting idea -- maybe a Marlin Papoose (something that breaks down). Thanks for your suggestion! --GM

  • Great information here, thank you very much!

  • Excellent video! Well thought out and impressively presented. You got a new subscriber :)

  • That worked out well.

  • I hope i can finish bullshit university and get enough money to buy a safe house, tonnes of food, atmospheric water generators, diesel and gas generators, solar panels, parabolic solar dishes for cooking food.

  • @ThatDifferentGuy: You have a great plan!

May I suggest you do well in your studies, and finish that goal -- no matter how 'bullshit' the university may appear. I know. I have a Ph.D. from a world-class university, and it appeared like 'bullshit' many, many, many times to me.... But you MUST finish your goal. Or, to put it another way, we all must finish what we start. Just a little friendly advice from someone who's been there :) I wish you all the best, brother! --GM

  • You sir, are very crafty. I love your way of thinking, by using all that empty space that's already there for you. You gave me some great ideas. Thanks a ton!

  • Dude that is cool!!!

  • Thats just Awesome and shocking how much extra space you can get by doing this! Great work!

  • I really like this. Thanks for the info.

  • Excellent !! Thanks for sharing.

  • Great channel.

Those videos on vehicle preparations where great. Can I suggest you add metal wire to the kit. The vehicle tens to get hot especially the engine and exhaust components. Duct tape and zip ties cannot hold up an exhaust.

    Keep up the great videos.

    Andy

  • @Andysse: Excellent suggestion! Will comply, brother --GM

  • I am gonna try this with my 06 Lancer ill vid it and link when im done

  • @0jmac0: Awesome! Let me know how the project turns out! --GM

  • ★★★★★ツ

  • thats cool

  • I was apprehensive at first, but close to the end, seeing all that extra space that did not existed before, you definitively sold me on the idea. I am going to try it. Thank you.

    ..X..

  • Lost for words! Outstanding!!

  • @ppspsd: Great! Let me know how the project turns out --GM

  • Great information! Awseome ideas for thinking ousdie the box. Take care.

  • @BugOutVehicles: Thanks, my friend! I love your videos as well, and thanks for watching! --GM

  • Nice idea, the semi-professional installation makes it look good and should not mess with the resale value of the vehicle.

  • Another excellent video. I look forward to the rest of the series.

  • great videos. question, what type of car are you making this floor for ? thanks, Hamm336

  • @hamm336: Honda Civic. Take care, my friend --GM

  • Damn. Thats a good idea....

  • @f0xmuld3r: Thanks, my friend! Stay safe --GM

  • GM--- I love it. I am really looking forward to your continuance of this series. Be safe and God Bless brother!

  • @hinckleypoland: Thanks, my brother! Good hearing from you again! Many blessings --GM

  • Awesome stuff! Keep em coming!

  • very cool idea. great way to have an accessible stash of supplies in your car and even make them some what hidden if done right. maby put and extra piece of carpet on top of the false floor to hide the trap door and the hinges to make the stash a little harder to find

  • @kastraynator: Thanks, my friend! Stay tuned, and stay safe --GM

  • Great idea. For my wife I would velco the whole mat (not cut it) to the false floor and use finger holes instead of a handle on the trap door so the gear would not be detectable by a casual searcher. This in case the car gets stolen so gear would still be there if/when the car gets recovered which they usually do.

  • @Istvan56: I love the idea! I was actually giving this some thought just yesterday. I would like to pursue something similar to what you've suggested -- which is change the handle, and then lay an entirely new rug on top of everything in order to conceal its existence. Only thing -- my wife actually accesses the compartment, say, every week or so for various reasons. Just more angles to figure out! Many blessings --GM

  • Next Project: Those roll cages from Road Warrior and the swivel mounted quad arrow gun. ~Israel

  • @WeAllJuggleKnives: LOL! Let's see what's in our bag of tricks! --GM

  • Awesome video! All your videos are so concise and informative. Could you include in your vehicle series some information on what systems and gear you carry in your survival truck? I'm a bit of a pack rat and tend to carry more gear/tools than is necessary and would like some ideas on what i could eliminate to reduce clutter and increase passenger room. Looking forward to more videos, keep up the good work!

  • @6288duke: Thanks for your kind words of encouragement! I'll do my best in the forthcoming videos --GM

  • Great vid! Great tips!

  • Nice job! I need to do this...

  • I don't know why I expected to see just a duffel bag full of gear and food laying in the back of the trunk,(maybe because that's what my trunk has lol), but you've outdone yourself with this one. Having stuff out of the way and out of plain sight like that is genius. Shoe goo FTW!

Until I can afford a truck or jeep I may have to attempt this....

  • @StormRider308: Thanks for your kind words of encouragement; it really means a lot! Stay tuned --GM

  • Awesome! Super excited about this series!

  • @bohdimlh: Thanks so much! Stay tuned and stay safe --GM

  • Great video!...As a small auto upholstery shop owner, I can appreciate the work you just did...I might even have a few tips on what glue to use for carpet installation "bought at home depot" and sprayer at "harbor freight" but since I am a newbie at this you tube thing I will wait LOL ...I sure do not want to seem like a "know it all"....Keep up the great work and I love watching yours and many others vids on survival things!
