I have tried loads of different tactics to find out the best one, (this is against computer!).
It depends on what you like. I decide between 2 ways:
Take over N-America, from there you have only 3 access points, and 5 reinforcements. Once you get powerful, you can storm S.American then finally Australia.
Take Australia and the BULK of Asia. Once you have a hold on Australia, slowly spread through Asia. Keep at least 5 troops on each territory, and don't attack too many continents at once.
The best thing to do is take N America and s America and let the enemy get the rest of the world then close in on all sides from Alaska and Greenland flanking your enemy and not letting them retreat.
Europe is the place to have cause u get 5 reinforcements each round and if u get lucky with the cards..u can build up on the Asia front and just storm it.likewise for africa and N. America..u can really dominate early in the game with europe but as the game moves on u must give it for for N America Africa or Asia
I didn't like the idea of playing from Australia at first, but I've perfected a great strategy for Australia. And most people think you're either ignorant, or not confident when you start with Australia. I use that agsinst them.
Australia is nice to have, but you are stuck there unless you really want to try to take Asia, which SUCKS! I like to get south America. You get 2 extra reinforcements just like Australia, but you can go to north America or Africa.
Australia is meh. I usually attempt to take control of North America, myself. It only has three entry points and if you can keep in control at the chokeholds, it's easy to expand and foil the exploits of others at nearly any time.
I usually try to take S. America while trying to keep territories in Australia. =)

That's not true. The key is to focus on getting the other players to attack each other.
