Artists like these CHOOSE to use VEVO (or their record label chooses for them) so that they can get some compensation for your consumption of their music. Artists gotta' eat too. Music consumption shouldn't be free.. But the advent of Napster made our generation feel as if it should be free.. And as a result, now people break Copyright law and steal music.

The problem is not that artists won't eat with the advent of Napster/YouTube - but that it cuts out the record label as a needed medium of distribution.

Artists should quit using record labels and go completely on-line and have donation systems in place or their own direct payment systems.

@realigion24 I know these things; yesterday was my last day of classes for my Bachelors degree in Music Industry. My point was that VEVO is an attempt to get some monetary gain from YouTube views. I'm not saying Record Labels are good or bad, I'm fairly undecided on that point. It is possible to record, market, promo, and distribute yourself but it's next to impossible. Labels take care of a lot of shit for artists but unarguably there needs to be a change in their system.
