I don't like MiG's. since MiG 21 every single MiG was bad. Mig 23 isn't special at all, MiG 25 is just a trainer., MiG 29 crashed at it's first flight... I'd pick a Sukhoi any day. Su 27 Flanker is the best looking and the pretty much the best plane ever built by Russia , if you ask me.

WTF are you talking about with MiG? MiG23 highly upgradeable swing wing fighter/interceptor, the MiG25 holds the record for the fastest combat aircraft ever, reaching mach3.2 & posed a danger to the SR-71, and MiG29 posseses one of the largest threats to NATO fighters ever.
I'd pick flanker too, but the Flanker series is a long range, deep penetration dogfighter, and the MiG29 series is a front line dogfighter, so Su is superior anyway.

The MiG 29's performances aren't a myth. It's 1 of the few aircraft that can perform a cobra without TVC & can perform tailslides at very low speeds, possessing superb dogfighting capabilities. at the time, it was a very advanced & capable plane, which is why it's being modernized (MiG35) & had such export success.

DOGFIGHTING IS OVER!!!! most planes have only got 400 chaingun rounds... you can't go dogfighting against other jets with such a small number of rounds. and yes the MiG 29 had an export success... but Romania, Poland, Moldavia i think Bulgaria too kept it only 10 years or less in service and returned to th MiG 21 because MiG 29 is a freaking bad plane.
There's limited rounds since gun kills are rare, many would be too much weight & it only takes a few rounds to knock out the target.
MiG21 = 2nd/3rd gen, the MiG21-93/bis has 4th gen capabilities, but MiG29 is superior in all respects to MiG21. Poland has 36 MiG29s, all to modernized for further service life. Moldova, their air worthyness had expired. Bulgaria has 24 MiG29s, Romania found MiG29 maintenance costs too high for them.
Remember, EVRYTIME someone says dogfighting is over, they're proved wrong. Serious engagments take place within visual range, you need maneuverability to prevent the enemy from gunning/locking onto you, and to evade missiles.
When F4s faced MiG17s over Vietnam, they always came to a close fight & always requested a gun be fitted. many losses for short sightedness. Hence all fighters both Russian & US have guns. Plus their missiles were often evaded or failed!

The Russians don't count now? Their Air force is the 2nd largest, and one of the best equiped. the crisis of the 1990s & early 2000s is over, their military has recovered & is a prominent force. Its management has also recovered.
The Su27 & MiG29 caused the US to develop F22, and now they've been modernized/upgraded. they are now 4++ gen. 5th gen capabilities from 4 gen design.

Iraq never had the Su-27 in their inventory. They also took a severe beating from the Iranian F-14s during the Iran-Iraq War, shortly before. That said, they also were downgraded and Arab flown...
As for the Su-27, NATO has never faced the Su-27 or its variants except in Red Flag, and we didn't do terribly well against it.

No Su fighter was involved in the Gulf war. Su27 scared the west, having a better airframe than F15, more hardpoints, more maneuverable, & that the 'P-42' modification beat all of the records set by the F15 streak eagle.
An air force with technology capable of facing off any nato counterpart (except US due to sheer numbers) counts. they have the tech. Russia is part of BRIC, & by 2050, is projected to be in the top 5 leading economies, beating the US. give time

don't mean to burst your bubble, but the stinger's success is exagerated. It claimed less than speculated soviet machines, though was effective, mainly against helicopters, denying the air mobility the Soviets used to great effect. they might'vewon if the stinger hadn't come into play, for the mobility gave the USSR the ability to strike whenever they wanted as well.
@boffinboy100 i'm not saying the stinger is god given. i personally don't like it.... i preffer AT-4 or Javelin, and sometimes the RPG-7, because it's extremely effective. but it freaking ruled the skies in Afghanistan. and i don't agree the ka-50 or the mi-35 are better than the apache... the mi-35 can't be better due it's lack of mobility... it's freaking huge.... the ka-50 is more manuevrable, i'll give that to it, but it has never been seen in combat. AH-64 ruled wherever it fought.

Plus both Mi28 and Ka50 are better armed, better armoured, just as fast & as manouverable, and have very sophisticated safety systems, very advanced gearboxes and ejector seat.
@boffinboy100 i thought we were talking about the mi-24/35 not mi-28.better armed? really? i don't think their missiles are better than the hellfire which is legendary already. better armoured? sure you need an armour but if you use tons of metal on it it loses maneuvrability and becomes heavy as hell. plus those choppers are supposed to rush... why would you need a heavy armour? you need advanced defense systems against AA's or rockets... and what so special about a gearbox or an ejection seat?
Hellfire is a good system, but it's partially laser guided, requiring the heli to hover, vulnerable to enemy fire. some russian heli missiles are also laser guided, requiring the heli to main until either ground forces or the missile takes over, requiring armour. combat helis/gunships are CLOSE SUPPORT units, meaning that all the while they are at the front line & vulnerable to enemy groundfire. Plus, you can never guarentee that you'll not be ambushed at CQ.
@boffinboy100 in fact the russians use their gunships for airsupport... other armies have helis like the Sea Stallion, the Black Hawk or the Little Bird for that. So the gunships can hunt down other choppers.... and all modern choppers have that kind of counter measures so...
what do you mean by air support? Combat helis/gunships are close air support, meaning that they are within the combat zone. an example of non-combat zone support is artillery.
The Ka50 ejection system & Mi28 advanced gearbox (same in concept to that of the UH60) offers higher rates pilot survival in the event of being critically hit, the gearbox absorbs the forces of hitting the ground, protecting the pilot, while the ejector seat allows the pilot to escape even if the heli is upside down (providing he's high enough). also, both helicopters Mi35 have countermeasures (flares & chaff & jammers & maneuverability to break locks).
@boffinboy100 ur info is very flawed a 4++ fighter is not a 5 intact no where close, the gap is tremendous arguably the best 4++ the typhoon gets its ass handed to it by the f22 and f35 and whoever said the t50 is better that f22 and 35 is also wrong due to the stealth the design of the t50 is much less stealthy than either of the two and with northrops new aesa radar the F series have a much better chance I believe the f15 se could even rival the t50 in stealth(not in dogfights)
With T50, I conclude it to be ultimately better for costs, mainteneance, reliabity in a 5th gen plane are needed. in combat, F22 might have an edge, but if i had to purchase either design, the T50 for it is cheaper, and the Sukhoi OKB's legacy provides quality in aircraft. It isn't pure stealth. The Russians believe that maneuverability is the most important feature, stealth just helps. the RCS is about ten times more than the F22 atm. frankly t50 looks better
@boffinboy100 no the su-35 vs f22 is not a stalemate due to the fact that both have excellent maneuverability, but the f22 has stealth. The su-35 is also a multirole fighter and not specifically meant for aa which is what the f22 is meant for. A more comparable situation would be f22 vs t-50 which depending on the circumstances either could win if the f22 stays out of vr and dogfight senarios it will win almost always. If it comes down to dogfight it depends on the pilot

The Su35 is an air superority fighter but has similar multi-role to Su34, the epitamy of multi-role, the 1st i know to encompass all without compromises. same on board systems. it's a high capability fighter, in the same class as F22 & F15, Lower capability can include JSF, FA18, EF2000, F16, Rafale.

the new russian Archer missile is believed to outperform the AIM9X. it has TVC, and an on board computer that can distinguish between countermeasures & the target.
do you know of the problems the F35 project is facing? it has become political, and a financial, engineering & technological challenge. it can't do one of the many roles it is ment to do because it must be capable of another.

Know of the laser testing. It is endagered by the Anti-AWACS class missile, and eventually, if it enters service, will be detectable & countered. Maneuverability is 1 of 4 things needed in a fighter in combat. (Good Pilot, speed, weapon system, maneuverability).
I can't read your 1st paragraph, but from what i comprehend, my reply is, the Su35BM2 is better than EF2000, simulations lean that way too. they also suggest F22vsSu35= stalemate, F35vsSu35=Su35 winner

about the f22 vs su35 f22 wins hands down but as for f35 vs su 35 it would be closer but i still would bet my money on the f35 for while some say it isn't maneuverable it has better handling turn radius and agility than an f-16(as stated by pilots) has stealth and has the same thrust as an f/a-18 the stealth key
the lasers will eventually be detectable, by satellites & such, check out ausairpower, it has some interesting stuff regarding many an aviation project.
F35 vs Su35, within VR, the Su35 wins, BVR, the Su35 can evade the others' missiles easily, and F35must use stealth to evade that of the Flanker-E's. same applies with teh F22, but with F22vsSu35 having a closer match, and definately comming down to pilot skill.
@boffinboy100 you can't detect a laser firing because it travels out the speed of light, while you may be able to detect it when its charging, you can't maneuver away from that and f22s are much more maneuverable than the su35 while the f35 is much more comparable in almost all military analysis's the f22 wins out they would not enter vr and can be thought of more as a vr fighter
the laser is IR, in the electromagnetic spectrum, speed of light = 3x10^8 m/s etc. but the platforms are detectable, and the energy required will give out readings of radiation etc from the batteries.
The Su37's high maneuverability, equal to or better than F22, was incorporated into Su35BM/S, Su30MK, & even the latest MiGs. don't underestimate their maneuverability, they count it #1 for a fighter.

totally different planes. In air-to-air combat, however, the SU-35 will mop the floor with the mig-35. SU-35 is a heavy, expensive air superiority fighter. the mig-35 is a multi-role fighter.

"Older" design with 3d thrust vectoring wins in both performance and cost race. So there you have avanced models of mig-29 and su-27 which are su-35/37 and mig-29 ovt / mig35, and for Americans f-16 is gonna get upgrade with 3d engine and f-15 also.

Considero que Sukhoi 35 es mucho mas avion caza que MiG-35, ya que es mucho mar artillable, mas avanzado y mas maniobrable, el MiG-35 se me hace mas bueno en apoyo cercano o batalla aerea contra F-35 ligthing ll, Rafale o Eurofigter Typhon que son aviones de mediana capacidad de combate, pero para enfrentase a un F-15 eagle o un F-22 Raptor que son casas de superioridad aerea, el único que les hace frente y les gana es la familia Sukhoi, desde le 27 al 35 que pienso que son los mas imponentes.

I don't like MiG's. since MiG 21 every single MiG was bad. Mig 23 isn't special at all, MiG 25 is just a trainer., MiG 29 crashed at it's first flight... I'd pick a Sukhoi any day. Su 27 Flanker is the best looking and the pretty much the best plane ever built by Russia , if you ask me.

@MrILoveFirearms Seriously? You do not know MiG aircraft, I'm sorry. The MiG-25 was a Mach 3 interceptor aircraft that was developed to intercept the American XB-70 bomber, not a mere trainer. Have you even seen what the MiG-29 can do? Its an extremely capable fighter in the right hands, and can give out F-15C's a run for it's money any day. On the same note, Sukhoi's are nothing to scoff at either, but you seriously need to be better informed on Mikoyan-Gurevich aircraft.

WTF are you talking about with MiG? MiG23 highly upgradeable swing wing fighter/interceptor, the MiG25 holds the record for the fastest combat aircraft ever, reaching mach3.2 & posed a danger to the SR-71, and MiG29 posseses one of the largest threats to NATO fighters ever.
I'd pick flanker too, but the Flanker series is a long range, deep penetration dogfighter, and the MiG29 series is a front line dogfighter, so Su is superior anyway.

The MiG 29's performances aren't a myth. It's 1 of the few aircraft that can perform a cobra without TVC & can perform tailslides at very low speeds, possessing superb dogfighting capabilities. at the time, it was a very advanced & capable plane, which is why it's being modernized (MiG35) & had such export success.

There's limited rounds since gun kills are rare, many would be too much weight & it only takes a few rounds to knock out the target.
MiG21 = 2nd/3rd gen, the MiG21-93/bis has 4th gen capabilities, but MiG29 is superior in all respects to MiG21. Poland has 36 MiG29s, all to modernized for further service life. Moldova, their air worthyness had expired. Bulgaria has 24 MiG29s, Romania found MiG29 maintenance costs too high for them.

Remember, EVRYTIME someone says dogfighting is over, they're proved wrong. Serious engagments take place within visual range, you need maneuverability to prevent the enemy from gunning/locking onto you, and to evade missiles.
When F4s faced MiG17s over Vietnam, they always came to a close fight & always requested a gun be fitted. many losses for short sightedness. Hence all fighters both Russian & US have guns. Plus their missiles were often evaded or failed!

The Russians don't count now? Their Air force is the 2nd largest, and one of the best equiped. the crisis of the 1990s & early 2000s is over, their military has recovered & is a prominent force. Its management has also recovered.
The Su27 & MiG29 caused the US to develop F22, and now they've been modernized/upgraded. they are now 4++ gen. 5th gen capabilities from 4 gen design.

@MrILoveFirearms You're a little wrong in that regard. The MiG-29 and MiG-25 got the crap beaten out of them by the F-15C during the Gulf War against Iraq. Iraq never had the Su-27 in their inventory. They also took a severe beating from the Iranian F-14s during the Iran-Iraq War, shortly before. That said, they also were downgraded and Arab flown...
As for the Su-27, NATO has never faced the Su-27 or its variants except in Red Flag, and we didn't do terribly well against it.

@Ariana321 actually we did the f22 was never taken down and after the f15s were allowed to use there bvr the tides drastically changed intact the su30mk1's were dominated by us and we even learned that the sukhois are very difficult to launch(idk why) and there hull integrity is much weaker than f15s the mig 29 has a ton of flaws in its structure these can't compare to the f22 though which has an estimated kdr of 212:0

It claimed less than speculated soviet machines, though was effective, mainly against helicopters, denying the air mobility the Soviets used to great effect. they might'vewon if the stinger hadn't come into play, for the mobility gave the USSR the ability to strike whenever they wanted as well.

Hellfire is a good system, but it's partially laser guided, requiring the heli to hover, vulnerable to enemy fire. some russian heli missiles are also laser guided, requiring the heli to main until either ground forces or the missile takes over, requiring armour. combat helis/gunships are CLOSE SUPPORT units, meaning that all the while they are at the front line & vulnerable to enemy groundfire. Plus, you can never guarentee that you'll not be ambushed at CQ.

The Ka50 ejection system & Mi28 advanced gearbox (same in concept to that of the UH60) offers higher rates pilot survival in the event of being critically hit, the gearbox absorbs the forces of hitting the ground, protecting the pilot, while the ejector seat allows the pilot to escape even if the heli is upside down (providing he's high enough). also, both helicopters Mi35 have countermeasures (flares & chaff & jammers & maneuverability to break locks).

With T50, I conclude it to be ultimately better for costs, mainteneance, reliabity in a 5th gen plane are needed. in combat, F22 might have an edge, but if i had to purchase either design, the T50 for it is cheaper, and the Sukhoi OKB's legacy provides quality in aircraft. It isn't pure stealth. The Russians believe that maneuverability is the most important feature, stealth just helps. the RCS is about ten times more than the F22 atm. frankly t50 looks better

The su-35 is also a multirole fighter and not specifically meant for aa which is what the f22 is meant for. A more comparable situation would be f22 vs t-50 which depending on the circumstances either could win if the f22 stays out of vr and dogfight senarios it will win almost always. If it comes down to dogfight it depends on the pilot

The Su35 is an air superority fighter but has similar multi-role to Su34, the epitamy of multi-role, the 1st i know to encompass all without compromises. same on board systems. it's a high capability fighter, in the same class as F22 & F15, Lower capability can include JSF, FA18, EF2000, F16, Rafale.

Know of the laser testing. It is endagered by the Anti-AWACS class missile, and eventually, if it enters service, will be detectable & countered. Maneuverability is 1 of 4 things needed in a fighter in combat. (Good Pilot, speed, weapon system, maneuverability).

F35 vs Su35, within VR, the Su35 wins, BVR, the Su35 can evade the others' missiles easily, and F35must use stealth to evade that of the Flanker-E's. same applies with teh F22, but with F22vsSu35 having a closer match, and definately comming down to pilot skill.

the laser is IR, in the electromagnetic spectrum, speed of light = 3x10^8 m/s etc. but the platforms are detectable, and the energy required will give out readings of radiation etc from the batteries.
The Su37's high maneuverability, equal to or better than F22, was incorporated into Su35BM/S, Su30MK, & even the latest MiGs. don't underestimate their maneuverability, they count it #1 for a fighter.

Guys c'mon as many American and Russian pilots have said many many many times in dogfights the thing that counts the most is the pilot hands down you can put a good pilot on an F-4 and a crapy one on an F15 and the F-4 would win not to say that the planes have anything to do with it but when you have the same type of planes going head to head the pilot will make the dif but to give credit to the Ruskies they have been the FIRST in many things swept wing first to space

totally different planes. In air-to-air combat, however, the SU-35 will mop the floor with the mig-35. SU-35 is a heavy, expensive air superiority fighter. the mig-35 is a multi-role fighter.
Sort of like comparing the F-15 with the F-16.

На 1:43 модель Су-37/35 с бортовым номером 711. Этот истребитель потерпел аварию 19 декабря 2002 г. в 80 км от аэродрома Раменское. Самолет разбился из-за отказа ЭДСУ (пилот - Юрий Ващук - катапультировался).
На тот момент он прошёл даунгрэйтинг до модели Су-35 (были сняты двигатели с УВТ).

@razuviousdz You joking right, pak, raptor, f-35 and other "stealth" fighters are long time abandoned projects because they are useless, and price, for example F-22 need 300 hours of maintanace for 24 hours or flight. "Older" design with 3d thrust vectoring wins in both performance and cost race. So there you have avanced models of mig-29 and su-27 which are su-35/37 and mig-29 ovt / mig35, and for Americans f-16 is gonna get upgrade with 3d engine and f-15 also.
