the new GNR drummer Brain is one of the most sought after drummers in America right now. he's beyond a doubt much more accomplished than matt.
Brain Mantia has been a member of Primus before GNR and has worked with everybody from Tom Jones to Buckethead's solo projects. his range of experience varies from rock drums to other genres of music.
plus, he has song-writing credits on Chinese Democracy as well, something matt never had with GNR.

the story about axl forcing slash and duff to sign over the rights to the band name is false. legally, any contract made under any kind of physical or implied pressure becomes defunct. besides, the contract was signed in 92 and according to the law, you have 3 years to challenge the arrangement before it becomes legally locked in.
according to slash's book, both his and duff's lawyers were actively involved in the legal arrangements with axl so the idea that they were forced into something doesnt hold up.
also, slash says in his book that the band discussed the idea of firing axl 6 times. axl was just trying to protect himself by gaining possession of the GNR name so that he couldnt be fired.
remember that scott weiland got fired by Velvet Revolver- slash and duff's new band.

most of the GNR hits were written by axl and izzy. slash actiually opposed some songs which became huge hits like Sweet Child O Mine.
Velvet Revolver is not even a pale comparison to GNR. slash has been in 3 bands (GNR, snakepit and Velvet Revolver) and on every ocasion he has fueded with the frontman and attacked him in the press.
Some of what you said is true. But Slash is the one that made the catchy rift to sweet child of mine, and he was just messing around and thats how the song was started. Slash didn't oppose to the song, and without him the song wouldn't exist. Get your facts straight. And as for Velvet Revolver the reason Slash was fighting with the frontman is because the frontman is fuckin heroin addict, and hard to work with, thats why stone temple pilots broke up!
slash was actually opposed to the song. he has said that he "HATED" it. duff and steven were also totally opposed. it was axl who made that song happen because he saw how good it could be.
slash spoke about this on VH1's Greatest songs of the 80's plus there are other quotes by him and duff to confirm this.

the band gets only a small percentage of album sales. the record company gets the rest.
plus, the record company stopped funding the album in 2004 and axl funded it himself for 4 years. so he has invested his own savings into the album.

To all those that are saying the old GNR is better than the new. Here's the only point somebody needs to bring up because I've seen half of you always saying Slash and the others made the band which is bullshit.

its ridiculous to say that Guns N Roses would have been nothing without slash. slash is an amazing guitarist but lets get some facts right:
most of the GNR hits were written by axl and izzy. slash actiually opposed some songs which became huge hits like Sweet Child O Mine.
Velvet Revolver is not even a pale comparison to GNR. slash has been in 3 bands (GNR, snakepit and Velvet Revolver) and on every ocasion he has fueded with the frontman and attacked him in the press.

Some of what you said is true. But Slash is the one that made the catchy rift to sweet child of mine, and he was just messing around and thats how the song was started. Slash didn't oppose to the song, and without him the song wouldn't exist. Get your facts straight. And as for Velvet Revolver the reason Slash was fighting with the frontman is because the frontman is fuckin heroin addict, and hard to work with, thats why stone temple pilots broke up!

slash was actually opposed to the song. he has said that he "HATED" it. duff and steven were also totally opposed. it was axl who made that song happen because he saw how good it could be.
slash spoke about this on VH1's Greatest songs of the 80's plus there are other quotes by him and duff to confirm this.

as for VR, weiland wasnt the only one on drugs there. slash himself had a major relapse in 2006. he was so hooked on OxyContin that he admits to noding asleep in rehearsals and his marriage almost fell apart.
weiland's drug past was well known to the band when they chose him out of hundreds of choices to be their frontman. infact they chased HIM.
with slash's drug problems, it was hypocritical of them to attack weiland for his.

i said nothing about SCOM being a hit without the riff etc- im telling you the UNDENIABLE fact that that song would NOT exist if slash had his way because he did NOT want to do it. neither did duff.
it was axl who made that song happen. it doesnt matter how legendarey a riff you come up with unless you record it and it reaches the audiences. slash thought that song was a joke and both duff and slash tried their best to make sure they wouldnt have to do it. axl made it happen.
