  • "diss?" get with the lingo old man!!! hahah jk, Respect Grace Lee Boggs, Just RESPECT!!

  • Oh what a difference time makes.

Barak Obama has shown is to Hope & Change what Carlos Mencia is to comedy :(

Plutocrats and Oligarchs can go suck a big one!

  • Barak sounds like her. In fact I think that someone in his campaign has taken her slogans, hope and change and used them as themes. Look at her work in Detroit before 2000, look at her work 20 years ago.

  • I wouldn't be surprised if Barack used some of these ideas. Hopefully he will be President who will use these ideas at a higher level. Hopefully, people will follow and lead as well.

  • there is one major issue of mrs.boggs that is not addressed by either candidates is ending the glut of materialism. in order for us to have a safe and sane world, we have to learn to live with less, so other people in the world can live. i see in the message of change is physical, first female or the first multiracial. what i hear is the loss of wealth by those who have something and wanting a change so they can regain there wealth and continue material advancement.

  • I agree that materialism isn't addressed by any candidates. Probably because they know that the economy is based on consumerism (closely allied with materialism). Yet, this issue is at the heart of many of the problems we face today. It would be a breath of fresh air if one of these candidates took this issue head on.

  • I agree :]

  • @BRIANBLACKNEY How stupid these comments look 3 years later.

  • the gut of materialism that you speak, isn't the working poor...it is those who 15 homes and think it's criminal that they 7 homes. Or, having a warehouse full of cars that not driven, nor anybody sees - ever. when i hear barack say, it is time to sacrifice, d*mn i am not listening b/c im not part of the few that are creating the economic riot here.

remember it only takes a few...the "gang of five" comes to mind to reak havoc to ruin something.

basically the havemores want and demand more.

  • My Goodness!! Her words sound like Barack's campaign RIGHT NOW!

  • There is an amazing comparison to Grace's and Barak's ideas. Both Grace and Barak believe that we are too dependent on external sources of leadership and solutions. They both believe it will take all of us sacrificing for a common cause, not the government to do these things for us. Although Barak believes that government does have a responsibility to show the way to achieve these ideals.

  • I think she is very wise. Part of being our own leaders requires us to limit the size of our government. I have a feeling our Founding Fathers knew this as well. She touches on this when she mentions the Iraq war quagmire.

  • She is wise. Being our own leaders requires taking back our power. Our govt was intended to be very small. It has gotten out of hand and it has affected our self-determination.

This wonderful philosophy is why I'm a Ron Paul guy!

  • Grace has been around long enough to understand, it is not up to our leaders to change things for the better it is up to each of us to transform ourselves. If we live integrity we will expect integrity in our leadership.

  • This is a person we should all be listening to. She is an inspiration grounded in a deep understanding of what is going on.

  • My late Aunt Filomena Daddario was a friend of Grace's. I met her many years ago, and the memory of that meeting has stayed with me.

  • I fully share her views: surely we need a change in our thinking in this country. We need to move away from consumerism and unbridled expansion and consumption to use less and meet the needs of more of our people.

  • I hope we can achieve Grace's vision of leadership and community involvement. Otherwise we will be the fodder for the rich overlords who pitch rampant consumerism.
