  • Some incredible vids you got here man, very impressed!

I have a question but i doubt its possible. is there any way a snes can be modded to accept input from a memory card and read the roms from it like it would a cart?

    Cheers :)

  • I finally own a Switchless Super Nintendo! It is awesome! All thanks to Damomonster! Thank you so much!

  • @Bylga - Awesome mate! So happy your enjoying them dude !!

  • great vids bud,very informative!!

  • @bravotwozero007 - Cheers mate!

  • Hi there, what wattage of resistor do you use, or does it not matter?

  • @jlb506 - Hey mate, resistor wattage isn't important - like 1/4 Watt should be fine :)

  • @TheDamoMonster OK cheers mate, btw ur vids are awesome!

  • nice vid!

  • Where do i get a programmed PIC 16f630?

  • @Bylga - Hey there.. Most people get a blank chip and program them.. If you want one thats already programmed I could maybe doa trade or something with ya? Cheers!

  • @TheDamoMonster Ok thanks for your help. I think about it.

  • which method would you choose if you're just trying to get your snes running again. I have a black screen and it's not the connector so I know it's the lockout chip that is fried. I have an SNES 001 model ntsc

  • @slavetomyfate - Hey dude.. did your PPU start playing up while your were trying to mod it? Or di the machine just break down? Cheers

  • @TheDamoMonster - Hey, Nah I bought it off ebay as/is for parts. I figured just needed a cleaning or a new pin connector. The pins were all bent up so I put in a new connector, and still no go black screen power light on. I know the CIC chip has a tendency to give a black screen when burnt out. So I was wondering whats the best method. I am a beginner to modding so still need to work on soldering skills. Do you think it could be bad capacitors if not this? BTW thank you so much for these vids!

  • @slavetomyfate - Thats a hard one dude.. If your pins were all bent up it could have shorted out/damaged any number of components.. If your capacitors have gone bad, they usually (but not always) have goo leaving from the top or bottom of the cap, and the lid is press out or burst open.. To be honest, I think it may just end up staying as a parts one dude, as the easy fixes don't sound lke they've helped..

  • @TheDamoMonster hmm, well I got a few that have this so let me try a few different methods and see what happens , and i'll let you know. I just spent hours last night taking out and replacing one of SNES with brand new capacitors, it had residue underneath most of the capacitors , and it wasn't flux I could tell. Anyway this paticular one I did this to had rolling green bars come up on the screen and after doing this same results. I get sound but no picture just rolling green bars.Any thoughts?

  • @slavetomyfate - Hmm.. not easy mate, it gets really hard to diagnose a machine ya havent seen aye :) The only advice I can give is just check the joints, caps etc over and hopefully you'll something else wrong.. If your getting sound but no pic, then it sounds like your machine is probably working, so make sure its not something silly like a broken cable or a TV that doesnt like the signal etc.. But if not, something may be damaged on the video encoder..

  • That's the Super Famicom model. What?!

  • @OtakuDeju - The mod is done on the US Super Nintendo model 1 dude, but it will work on any of the first gen SNES's or SFC's :)

  • @TheDamoMonster I have seen the real thing that logo four colors is at the top you see in all SFC systems, games, and all authentic accessories as well.

Hey I have a question my Super Nintendo has a yellow stain color on it. Is there any way to get that out?

  • @OtakuDeju - The 4 coloured logo is also on the PAL Super Nintendo.. I have done a vid on adding region and 50/60Hz switches, but this vid is about adding a PIC controller to the US Super Nintendo which doesn't have that logo.. As I said though, this mod is compatible with all Super Nintendos and Super Famicoms..

As for the stain, I think there is a product designed especially for that but I can't remember the name of it sorry as it isn't available in my country lol..

  • hm, tempted to do this mod for my only pal cart, but i think its to risky messing with the ppu legs, they are so fragile

  • @Padoca85 - Hey there.. Yes, you do want to be confident about attempting this mate - broken legs usually means the end of the console.. There's no harm in popping the lid off and having a look at the job and seeing how you feel about it first :) Let me know if I can help out in any way too dude!

  • @TheDamoMonster i mess around with some consoles and already opened the snes some times, but the ppu they are very tiny legs o.O XD. i will probably do this when i get a spare snes, cant risky loosing my only one right now ^^. Thanks for the support though

  • @Padoca85 - Always better to attempt when you have a spare :) Cheers mate!

  • F the new YT layout :)! Awesome work mate! And congrats on another great piece of hardware! I Defenitly have to get into PIC programing :)! This is such such a cool and clean end result! One thing bothers my mind! Are there many place to download HEX codes(besides your website wich i was stupid enough to only visit today LOL) for these tipe of mods or do you make them yourself ?! I sucked at DOS programing, hence the question LOL! 5* work!

    Cheers my friend :)!

  • @shock25sr - Hey dude :) Programming the hex code is a bit involved to be honest, as you need to be comfortable programming either C++ or ASM.. If there is something in particular your after, just let me know.. Code for most machines is already available, and there is no use re-inventing the wheel :) Cheers bro! Hows the SMS games going man?

  • @TheDamoMonster Yeah mate.. i think i told ya i wanted something like this for the Dreamcast`s VGA mod! But all in due time :)! And i`m sure that mod is on your list :)! I understand PIC programing isn`t for everyone, but only now i realized the potencial of it,hence my curiosity :)! Hey bro, thanks again for hooking me up! Sonic 2 and wonder boy 3 are kicking ass :) And also road rash, aero 2 and echo the dolphin have made my joy in the past days:)! Thanks for the fun :)!

    Cheers!

  • Where's the cool and funny robot dog of the Saturn mod video?

  • @icedlain - LOL.. Don't worry, he'll be back.. I try to use different intros for different vids :)

  • great mod mate

  • @brettscotland - Cheers dude :)

  • Awesome mod.

  • @shaurz - Thanks mate :)

  • @zillzultraboy - Thank you, and I'm glad your enjoying them :)

  • That is one cool mod

  • @killdoser666 - Cheers dude!

  • That is cool Damo you do some amazing work my friend.

  • @jboypacman - Thanks mate :)

  • exelent video! at first i thought why would i mod a snes, but the fact there's no switches needed helps a lot :-D so this leaves me with just only one question: have you found a (few) game(s) that did not worked with this mod? not that i'm still having one, but i guess this would be usefull info for current snes owners who wants to mod their snes after seeing this exelent video.

  • @musicmaniac1965 - Thanks for the kind words dude!.. I have tested every game I own, and they all work perfectly.. From what I understand, I think Mario RPG is THE game to test, but I don't own it.. From what I can tell, at the very least, this mod will work with the vast majority (if not all) of the SNES library of games :)

  • @TheDamoMonster youre welcome. you might want to put this info you gave me on the video subscription for other users, to make your video info more complete. maybe someone tries out your mod, and can tell of that mario RPG works or not.

exelent info, and it's fun to see that modders and tech freaks (not ment as a insult) are still active, even on the old school consoles :-D i'm still having much fun with my commodore 64 :-)

  • @xTHExSTIGx - lol :) Excellent mate :)

  • @xTHExSTIGx - Thanks dude! You sure you don't want to try this one lol.. Cheers mate, hear from ya soon!

  • This is a sleek, cool mod! Switchless is the way to go! I've not gone into IC programming yet, but it sounds like fun =) Love your vids! I'm into repairs and mods so naturally your channel would appeal to me =P

  • @PhatPhunk - Cheers for the kind words mate :)

  • That's amazing Damo! excellent job :D very cool on the (orange) 'auto mode' as well

  • @thomas3120 - Cheers dude!! And thanks again SO much for the Super Nintendo dude!

  • AWESOME

  • @SNESosT - Thanks mate :)
