its still kind of a shame to me, this looked to be an interesting level, but they never pulled through. i still dont understand why they still leaved the level behind with no graphics and the music still intact. it could have been a level in a heartbeat.

Umm... In your description of the vid, you said it was replaced by Oil Ocean. That isn't true, as on the beta versions, both existed at the same time.

Also, the creator of the Hidden Palace said that the "Master Emerald" in the level was just a breakable object.

Let me elaborate more on this... what they did to erase Hidden Palace Zone was to overwrite the graphics and tile data with Glitched Oil Ocean Zone graphics, there is a great video in which a guy shows some Action replay codes that tell the level to Load Oil Ocean Zones proper graphics for the Hidden Palace Level.... They show up perfectly which proves that is what SEGA did to Erase Hidden Palace Zone.

wow i remember back when i was 10 yrs old. this tune on sound test was puzzling. i also like the way the race levels on sonic 2 were meant for the other levels were scrapped.

This is simply because the graphics were not stored on the cartradge. You used a Game Genie, correct?

I didn't know about this until now. Hidden Palace is HIDDEN.lol Have to say that. I felt bad about it being scrapped...and hidden, in Sonic2. Good find!

this level was suppose to show you where all the chaos emeralds come from after getting all of them, unfortunately it got scrapped :(

You know, I found something. It's similar to this, using game genie. What happens when you put in a certain code in (don't ask me for it, I know I saw it somewhere though) and then do the level select code, select Emerald Hill. Wood Zone loads!

This does show that Sega ran out of time to finish this level, but it was meant to have been complete.

Oh, go download Sonic 2 Delta or sonic 2 Extended and you can get a beautiful COMPLETE level.

oh... P.S Oil oceon did not replace it. If you notice Oil Ocean was already in the beta along with Hidden Palace. (If you also notice, Dust Hill and Mystic Cave are both in the beta as well.)

What a beautiful level. Well it was a beautiful level. Did you know that you can get wood zone too? Same thing, put in a code in the game genie, (dunno what it is though) go to level select, and select emerald hill. Instead of emerald hill, you get wood zone!
